Landslide in Jackson Country (Kansas City) Missouri for Ron Paul

Kind of a funny story about Jackson County Missouri. This was Ron Paul's Missouri state coordinator's county. They go into the convention and have overwhelming numbers for Ron Paul, but they didn't want to alienate the party leaders so they tried to broker a deal where the Ron Paul people when get a large majority of the delegates. However, there where about a dozen or so Ron Paul supporters that the RP County Coordinator didn't know and they didn't want the deal, they wanted to take everything. So they were
able to convince the delegation to vote the deal down, the Republican County chair threw a fit and walked out of the caucus with a dozen or so Republicans. So the caucus Secretary was voted in as state chair and new elections were held and the caucus continued for hours and they passed resolutions and elected all 187 Delegates for Ron Paul to the State Convention and District Conventions.

Just for the record I live in Missouri and yesterday, I was driving to meet my hubby at his friends house and I could hear the people in the vehicle behind me cheering and waving and honking at me, at first I thought it was just a bunch of obnoxious teenagers and I cracked my window and the were yelling GO RON PAUL !!!! ( they saw my bumper stickers ) It was a bunch of college kids! I was soooo happy after that!

I went with our group in Buchanan county, MO and we were unsuccessful because they sent out emails and told people that a group of pro-choice Ron Paul supporters were going to come try to takeover. Yes they claimed Ron Paul was Libertarian and not Republican and that libertarians were pro-choice and so was Ron Paul. Right when we walked in the door we had to sign in and there was an article setting on the registration table about Ron Paul and how he was a libertarian and he was pro-choice. It didn't go good for us but we tried and I'm happy to see that there were some victories. Good job folks.

you are always in our thoughts. This is now the people's fight and the others are beginning to see what they once ignored. Everybody from my work thought I was nuts when I told them last year of these things to come (because of RP, of course). Now they are listening because they have substantial investments in the bank and they are unclear of what to do. I feel sad because I don't have any advice to give them except get involved and help the rev. It's been this way. Realization always comes late, well, almost. Told them so.

Beware of the push back
All I can say is: what makes anyone think the old party regulars are going to go away quietly? I fully expect legal challenges and/or other moves we haven't thought of that will neutralize what appears, right now, to be a big win for us.
I think it would have been smarter to accomodate the party regulars rather than alienate them. We will need their votes someday, too.

They lost because they chose not to stay despite the offer of compromise.
The point I was trying to make is that we can lose votes for Ron Paul forever if we continually alienate people. Diplomacy is called for. Being sensitive in the exercise of our power can win us votes, while throwing our weight around will lose them.
I don't call that a victory.

That is a nice thought but there is no way that die hard GOP Mccain supporters are going to ever vote for Ron Paul. We need to bring new people in to the party that have open mids not people that have controled the party for years because they will not be swayed.
You forget i was an admin for the democratic party for over 6 years and i understand how these things work and they are not pretty by any means especially when people are being challanged when they are used to not being challanged.
Do not expect help from any of the old right because it won't be there for us.

The fact is the blowback is what they are feeling right now and we do not need them is my point. Do you honestly believe that the old right of the party is actually going to help us? My sarcasm is warranted for people need to think about nonsense posts like the one i responded too.

I've been to conventions, and the idea that the members hold only one view and goal is silly. There are factions in any group.
But, as Dr. Paul said, if China parked off our coast, and began to tell us what to do, we would be unified. I believe that is what the post was about. We would do well not to unify the GOP loyalists against us. We need as many as we can get to join us.

The "old right" is a group. If someone called you an "American," lumped in a group with all the Democrats and neo-cons, how accurate would that be? It's silly to talk about the "previous leaders of the party" as if they are all the same. In fact, some of the other meetings, they were clearly welcoming.
Don't you think they, many of them, became involved in politics for the same reasons you have?
There are plenty of GOP loyalists who will vote for the nominee even if it's Ron Paul. They are watching the way we conduct ourselves. We can alientate them by our treatment of their fellow delegates, or we can take the high road. Why must you declare war when there is a better diplomatic option? If you are saying there is no hope of changing them, then we are doomed to fail.

Cowardly remarks are what mars the campaign. They don't push the boundaries even though the voting and polling is rigged. Even though the vast majority of congress is in the backpocket of billionaire banksters. And no, that's not a misspelling-BANKSTERS-the fraudulent manipulators of the market to stuff their pockets, buy up our assets, and ship our production overseas.

I am willing to go to a caucus, confront the opposite side, speak my mind in public, try to convert the convertable, and yet I am a coward? Because I point out that creating enemies unnecessarily will result in the other side pushing back in ways we can't even imagine, I am a troll? I understand Dr Parent and jshowell disagree with my approach toward building a political foundation for Ron Paul's ideas. I disagree with their take-no-prisoners approach to politicking. We could discuss our strategy differences, or we can just call each other names. Which will it be?

This is like a special / odd situation, right? It makes me feel like Divine Intervention showing us - where there is a will and lots of prayer - there is a way, even if it is a strange way. Great News. Haven't seen anything like that since we pulled the plug on Nelson Rochefellers micro-phone at the 1964 convention. Keep up the good work.
Now you have the power to make whatever necessary changes that you see fit to the platform and rules, if need be. Be Strong and Remember that you have the power, don't give it away.
For momentum at the convention during the roll-call we need to begin now to focuse on Arizona and Alabama delegate count. Obviously, the states that begin with the letter "A" will be first to announce their vote. It appears that we are doing very well in Alaska and that vote count for RP should come out pretty well in our favor but it is the other two delegate counts that we need to build up. I know for a fact that RP is very popular in Arizona but I haven't heard one thing about the delegate count yet.
