Boycott Olympics & Sponsers

The head of the International Olympic Committee says not to boycott the China Olympics because of protests in Tibet. That makes sense doesn’t it? Let's not offend the gracious Chinese hosts by boycotting their Olympic dog and pony show.. They can't help it that over 100 Tibetan protesters recently got in the path of their bullets. Those protesters should be grateful that their country has been occupied by China for 50 years after being under self rule for thousands of years.

Moreover, many people here in America would like to see protesters shot in the streets or at least imprisoned when they ask questions about what we were sold concerning the events of 9/11 or the never ending war. How dare you question our government about 9/11 Bill Clinton stated recently. The next day Joe Scarborough said the protester should be water boarded. Sidekick, Willie Geist, said people who question Clinton and the government about 9/11 should be sent to a secret CIA prison overseas... he wasn't laughing either. O'Reily, Hannity, Limbaugh, and others have made similar statements. That's pretty scary because of their propaganda power.

This is what I say to the non-believers; It won't be long before protesters here are shot or imprisoned for speaking out. Mark my words. They already are being tased. You may agree with the strong armed tactics of the officials now, but one of these days you won't. When the economy totally crashes, when the dollar is worthless, when depression hits, and when there are major food shortages and un-employment, you will want to protest in the streets too. Ironically, the evil aggressive action of the officials you approve of now will be used against you too. People like me who would have stood beside you will either have been executed or imprisoned. Most but not all people just shake their heads.

China has had over 50 years to perfect their tyranny over the people. Slave labor, forced abortion, and summary executions are the norm. Our country has raced to catch up. We are in a technological police state now. Everything you do and say can be tracked or traced by some government agency. (Yeh I know, if you aren't doing anything wrong why should you worry you say) The least we can do to show our disgust with the communist slave labor police state is to protest the Olympics by not watching them and rewarding the Chinese along with their American Fascist Corporate enablers.

Headed for Olympics? Beware of Big Brother
Olympic Attendees Will Be Bugged and Searched, U.S. State Department Says

and

it's a damn good safety precaution..

The Olympics..

.. are supposed to be free of political influences...

The hypocrisy is when we

The hypocrisy is when we toss out condemnation and threats of boycotts toward a nation, such as China, when we openly trade, support, and take loans from them and yet our own government is involved with the same type of offenses that we criticize the Red Communist for in Tibet. Our government have invaded or intervened in over 200 countries during the last 110 years, sometimes with a brutality that would make the Red Communist Chinese look like amatures. The hypocrisy is when we sanction Red Cuba who has done little to either spread the hideous ideology of Communism, or come close to the attrocities of the Chinese and yet we greet the Chinese with open arms.

I am not casting a crooked finger at anyone on this forum however, I am saying that a call for a boycott does little in terms of international pressure on a country like China. If something effective were to be done it would most likely come in the way of embarrassment by flooding the Chinese Embassy with letters pointing out how shameful the actions their government is taking in Tibet. The Chinese are far more likely to attempt to save face by the outpouring of public opinion being rained down upon their Embassy here in the U.S. then by any attempt at a boycott, which are shown to do little in the way of effective deterrent with a massive economic power such as China, but to throw shame upon their reputation, to castigate their actions in a way that is more direct, more personal from the American People will do more to effect action with the Chinese.

The threat of boycott is viewed as a paper-tiger by the Chinese since they realize that the percentages are on their side, that the vast majority of the American people are so hooked on their cheap products that such an attempt at a boycott wouldn't put a dent in their economy nor would it be anything more than a gnat flying around their head. Hit the Chinese where it hurts...hit them in their face with the idea that we think their actions are now worthly of a modern, civilized nation; that their actions are shameful and deserve to be scorned, then you will see the Chinese take note.

So, if you and the rest of those who are calling for a boycott will instead, call for a letter writing campaign to the Chinese Embassy in Washington that clearly denotes how shameful their government's actions are in our eyes I can tell you it will get much more results then a boycott of commercial ventures in China.

$$ Question? Is murder ok??

If someone murdered your mother is that ok?
If they murder your neighbor's mother is that ok?
If they murder the mother of your neighbor's neighbor that live in the house in back of your neighbor, is that ok?
To be clear this is a question about a woman that is normal ( as in normal ).
If the mother (which ever one you choose to think about) live across town or in a different state is it ok for her to be murdered?

The killing of persecuted groups in Chinese military hospitals so that their organs can be harvested for sale may still be continuing, a former politician who investigated the issue said.

Last year a report exposed that China was not only harvesting organs from prisoners on death row but also adherents of the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement, many of whom were detained without trial.

The investigation caused international outrage and prompted assurances from China's transplant industry that foreign visitors would not be sold organs that had come from an executed person.

However report author and former Canadian Secretary of State David Kilgour told a conference at Cambridge University last Tuesday that he believed the tainted organs were still being sold to rich Chinese.

He said: "The party-state in China and its agencies have killed thousands of Falun Gong practitioners, without any form of prior trial, and then sold their vital organs for large sums of money, often to 'organ tourists' from wealthy countries.

"The Chinese Medical Association recently agreed with the World Medical Association that 'organ tourists' can no longer obtain transplants in China.

"Whether this is anything more than public relations, intended to benefit the Olympics, remains to be seen.

"Another concern is that organs seized from Falun Gong practitioners will now go to wealthy Chinese patients instead, with the hideous commerce thus continuing in the same volumes."

The report cites 41,500 unexplained organ transplants from 2000 to 2005 that do not come from convicted executed prisoners, the brain-dead or family donors.

The report suggests that the organs come from adherents of Falun Gong—a non-political spiritual movement whose principles are truthfulness, compassion and tolerance which was banned in 1999.

There are believed to be at least a million practitioners in labor camps across the country. According to U.N. Special Rapporteur Manfred Novak, Falun Gong practitioners are the victims of two-thirds of all torture cases in China.

According to sources inside China, as recently as Christmas Eve last year surgeons at the Second Hospital Affiliated with Harbin Medical University performed a heart transplant operation using organs believed to be from an executed donor. It is not clear whether in this case the "donor" was a Falun Gong practitioner.

Kilgour said: "Human lives across China appear to have no more value to the Party than does the natural environment, work safety or health care. In my judgment, it is the toxic combination of totalitarian governance and 'anything is permitted' capitalism that allows this new form of evil in the world to persist."

Speaking in a conference with report co-author and human rights lawyer David Matas, Kilgour likened the 2008 Beijing Olympics to the 1936 Olympics in Nazi Germany.

However he said that in many cases conditions in China now are already worse than those in 1936, including what he likens to a campaign of genocide against Falun Gong.

He said: "The propaganda phase, begun in mid-1999 against a then estimated 70-100 million Falun Gong practitioners across China, demonized, vilified and dehumanized them in Party-controlled media. Many Chinese were thus persuaded to think of the community as even somehow less than human. It recalls a similar media campaign unleashed by a regime in Rwanda against its minority Tutsi community prior to the genocide there between April and June, 1994."

The world has more reason to be repulsed by the Chinese government than they ever had against Hitler and his murders.

What is this, the Jimmy Carter Forum?

Jimmy Carter boycotted the 1980 Olympics in Moscow. The USSR and 14 other countries retaliated by boycotting the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. In addition to boycotting the Moscow Olympics, in 1980 Carter also instituted the draft registration and stopped selling grain to the USSR to drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan.

Fast forward 28 years. The foreign troops in Afghanistan are now American. The USSR boycotted the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in retaliation. Jimmy Carter should have been awarded the Nobel Blow back award.

Even protesting at the United Nations general assembly would be a better idea than screwing up the Olympics. China will probably respond that Tibet has been affiliated with or part of China off and on since 1300, the relationship of Tibetans to Han Chinese is similar to the relationship of Native Americans to Euro-Americans, and the U. S. is ...ahem... in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Boycotting any Olympics is an affront not only to the host country but to athletes other nations all over the world. There are runners from Kenya, soccer players from Mexico, wrestlers from Bulgaria, and others who have spent their lives preparing of this event. They worked to have the opportunity to be the best in the world - not the best in the world minus some nations having a hissy fit over something that has nothing to do with the Olympics. Maybe China should stop buying treasuries to protest U.S. actions in Iraq or our boycott of the Olympics. Blowback again.

Look at the larger picture. "Other than unnecessarily and unfairly punishing athletes, Olympic boycotts accomplish absolutely nothing." Don't punish the athletes. This is a historical event, originating in 793 B.C., that now belongs to the world, not China. Legend is that even the warring Greeks gave the Olympics a pass. Let's do the same and carry on the battles for human rights at appropriate venues.

Consider that the US did participate at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Jesse Owens showed up the master race, with Hitler in the audience, by winning four gold metals.

If you don't like China, don't buy its merchandise.

Do it LOUDLY, too

Make a phone call to an advertiser, a sponsor, or the IOC at least once a week, once a day is better. Be sure to hassle some crooked politician while you are dialing!

Yes

let's alienate people who vote, after all we have more than enough support, Right ??

Sure!

I'm all for alienating anyone who would rather seek and maintain the status quo. It'll make em easier for the rest of us who can think critically to pick out so we can concentrate our education efforts on them.

Not sponsors

Not sponsors whose employees and stockholder vote

Yes, sponsors

And their employees. Those companies use their wealth against the best interests of the American people. I'd love to see every business that does something detrimental to our country go out of business. As for their employees. well, why don't they look for a job with a decent American company?

There

There is no one left to work for, we've been boycotting damn near everyone..Fox news sponsors, Glenn beck sponsor, etc..maybe we should boycott the damn girl scouts..The one I bought cookies from said Ron Paul was a nut..I'm sure the boy scouts also did something to piss us off......perhaps you're right though, with 5% support nationally we really don't need any more..

Here's a tissue.

There is no one left to work for...Wha wha wha. Start a business of your own then.

Pull the funding from the problem, and the problem will go away. It's not magic, it's accounting.

I'm

retired !!

That's spelled "retarded".

That's spelled "retarded".

BOYCOTT THE U.S.

BOYCOTT THE U.S. GOVERNMENT....LOOK AT WHAT WE HAVE DONE TO IRAQ; HAVE THE CHINESE DONE ANYTHING ANY WORSE THAN OUR INVASION OF A SOVEREIGN COUNTRY? YES, THEY INVADED TIBET AND IT IS HORRIBLE, BUT IT IS NO LESS DESERVING OF CONDEMNATION THEN OUR OWN INVASION, THEN OUR OWN SETTING UP A PUPPET GOVERNMENT TO ACHIEVE AN POLITICAL AND IDEOLOGICAL AGENDA!

WE TRADE WITH COMMUNIST RED CHINA AND YET WE TRY TO STARVE COMMUNIST RED CUBA, YET CUBA HAS DONE NOTHING IN COMPARISON TO RED CHINA IN TERMS OF ATROCITIES AGAINST ITS PEOPLE AND OTHERS.

I THINK NOT! TO HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN, LET HIM CAST THE FIRST STONE....

~~~hypocrisy is not very becoming for a people who claim to stand for Liberty~~~
Bro
We are working tirelessly to change the U.S. government. Criticizing China for brutally oppressing the people of Tibet is certainly not hypocrisy.
This is one boycott that would make a difference
I think this one would actually work. The 'ChiComs' would HATE to be embarrassed like that.
They do it to their own people too; forced sterilization at 29 if you have a second child, that kind of thing - even if you are apolitical.
Right On! Boycott this evil charade
It is unfortunate that such a noble athletic and ostensibly non-political event as this has been hijacked for political and nationalistic PR purposes. Just like the 1936 Munich Olympics in Nazi Germany, the prison-masters of bloody "communist" China are staging this as their big debutante party and I say shame on anyone who supports it by advertising or even by watching the sad spectacle.
Someone please post a list of advertisers and not only will I boycott them, I will write letters advising them of same. I mean business.
Americans, the global corporations took our manufacturing jobs overseas and showed their "patriotism" by closing our factories and then lobbying their well-funded puppets in Congress to enact Most-Favored-Nation status to China so that the same goods we once made could be made in China and then imported into the US cheaply. All while their own people are worked like slaves and denied basic human rights such as freedom of speech, press, religion, the right to organize, etc.
While you are at it...BOYCOTT WALMARTand SAM'S! I don't need to list all the reasons for that.
Peace and Freedom
Keep it Chilly : )
guys .. I hate that boycott
guys .. I hate that boycott crap... i'm no fan of china and what they are doing.. but our athletes train like crazy for a period of years to go kick the crap out of the chinese! don't boycott them cheer them on ! especially when they go against the chinese! just my feelings!
for
for once we agree
Boycot, YES!!
Anyone who thinks that the Olympic Games aren't about politics as well as sports has blinders on!!
Why spend zillions and zillions on all facilities, why clean up slum areas before all foreign nations arrive???
c'mon... wake up.
Boycot.. hit them where it will hurt.
Our athletes do train hard...very hard...but that has NOTHING...
to do with rewarding the Chinese Government, that treats it's citizenry like chickens to be be-headed. At least during the Olympics in Germany the world was still pretending it didn't know what Hitler was up to...These Chinese are pushing our faces into their "mess"
No I am sorrry, it is unfortunate for the great American Athletes, but so it goes. The Chinese Government, should not, and cannot be rewarded for these atrocities against it's people.
China has
one of the worst human rights records on the planet...dark, dark place.
They may have bragging rights on having the worst human rights
record on the planet. But the good ol' USA still leads the world with the highest incarceration rate and most concentration camps. Go FEMA!
lol
lol
Yeah
I'm boycotting.
F**k tyranny.
msm amusing
I find it amusing that the MSM bent over backwards reporting the monks protesting in BURMA. We even had a Senate (or House) meeting about it on CSPAN. Now that people are being killed in TIBET they rush to get it off the news.(no shit..NBC nightly news last night spent about 1.5 seconds covering it) Even liberal Huffpost refuses to print about it. I guess we don't want to bite the hand that feeds us. Even if the food is poison.
too true
They might just stop buying our bonds....
I'm going to be sorry I asked, but please tell me how boycotting the Olympics means that "everyone will starve to death in the death".
I
I meant Paulites..we're boycotting so many people we aren't allowed to deal with anyone..It was a joke
within the next 5 years the
within the next 5 years the odds of you starving are pretty good.. thats for sure!
Only
if your friggin retarded. Don't know how to grow a garden? Should have learned, or find friends who can. Don't know how to can food? You should. Besides how you going to boycott light? Weirdo. Sometimes you have to take a stand and the crap you have in your life really isn't a necessity, but our freedoms/liberties are.
do you have a sponsor list?
The Olympics (in any country) is against my religious beliefs anyway, so that won't be a problem.
There has to be more ...
... but I found this list:
Sponsors of the Upcoming "Genocide Olympics"
What Olympics? :O)
Unless the Dali Lama is participating, Tibet is Free, the FED disappears, the IRS Disappears, and Ron Paul is on his way to being President, there will be no Olympics in the Gregory household.
you are 100% correct
