Went to get the petition for city council today... yelled at the clerk
She was going over the info with me, and explained there was a law that no election signs or political material could be put up anywhere in town 90 days before election, including one's own property by town law. I informed her I would be putting a political sign up that evening, and invited the police to arrest me.
She also explained that even though the council is officially non-partisan, they are really all democrats. Makes sense with the taxes we have here and the constant expanding of the police force. I am not so sure I want to run anymore. Admittedly, I can't keep my temper when confronted with absolute bullshit.
By the way, they shut down my venue AGAIN, after being open for two days. Inspectors showed up, and said the company we got to do the inspection of the sprinklers didn't do a satisfactory inspection, so we need to get it re-inspected. We got the landlord involved and he is furious with the city for violating his property rights. That sprinkler inspection cost us $300. I am begginning to wonder if this nonsense isn't politically motivated ( I have made no secret of being a huge Ron Paul supporter.)

Anger will not help unless you can focus it and prevent it from knocking you off-track . Focus on the revolution and our many goals ahead. We have a lot to do. Don't let them discourage you.
Good luck!
Get the petitions and go door to door, if you have to run as a Democrate than do so, who cares, it't just Pepsi or Coke. The important thing is that you win and can make the changes. Good luck. Remember Door to Door is the best, talk to people, get their telephone numbers and call them on the day of election to go out and vote for you.
do you want any "honey" not vinegar emails sent to your council
just let us know - I can be nice
Perhaps a bit more
stealth and wiliness is in order. Never show your hand when the deck is stacked and the game is tilted. And this game is definitely tilted.
Also remember that honey catches more flies than vinegar does. Appear to be agreeable then continue on with your plans when you are out of sight.
Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't out to get you. However, sometimes they're not.
And remember, negativity begets negativity.

I know
Fortune Favors the Bold
the absurdity that indivdiuals cannot put up political signs on their own property just made me lose my temper
So the people who filed more than 90 days before the election
are allowed to put up (and I guess keep up) their political signs? I'm thinking of the 1st amendment right about now.
No
Fortune Favors the Bold
the law is theoretically that no one can put up signs. Of course, i've seen plenty of Obama yard signs around town.
