The website rfidanalysis.org is no longer up, but it included a complete academic paper on the methodology used to break the encryption on various devices including the Mobil SpeedPass token and some car keys. That was 3 years ago.
If it can be designed & programmed, it can be reverse engineered & hacked. Plain & simple...

I'm in favor of using the hammer method to disable them. You know, one, two, three, whack!
