Fortune Favors the Bold

I am an anarchist.

I've often wondered about

I've often wondered about this, which is better. Now, guys, don't bite my head off, I'm just trying to learn here. It seems, though, despite what everyone says, that if you have a republic you're forced to trust, and put power in, a very small group of people (435 congresspeople, 100 senators, a president, and 9 justices). Sure, you can write your legislators, which I've done time and again to no avail, they don't care.

Cons against democracy often go like, "Well, in a democracy the majority rule and the minority get squashed." Well, in a republic you still have majority rule, right? Majority votes get a bill passed and on to the president's desk. Then he/she can decide if it becomes law. Meanwhile the people, in relation to this law, have virtually no say. Then you have the issue of the people even knowing about the law in progress, which is why it's vital for we the people to be on top of the laws brewing in Congress, but sadly most Americans don't even know who their rep & senators are.

I don't know about you, but I think ordinary people should have at least some legal power in the process. Now Switzerland, for example, is unique among nations. I think it's referred to as a "parliamentary democracy", which sounds like a hybrid of republic and democracy. They've been so far the only holdout from joining the EU, probably because of their unique political structure that gets the people directly involved. They've also been able to stay fairly neutral in foreign entanglements, which is why they've stayed peaceful and prosperous. They also have one of the best economies in the world. Anyone know more about this? Anyone know how Switzerland is faring? Anyone know of a story where the democracy isn't working so well there, problems, etc? I'd like to know for my own education.

democracy

Democray v Republic explained in this video...... Ron Paul says http://www.youtube.com/wa... ...... are we run as a republic or ... http://www.youtube.com/wa...

This is why we should not feel guilty

This is why we should not feel guilty for trying to take over the party mechanism before we have educated the masses. With a citizenry so unashamedly ignorant of the issues, it is not a matter of WHETHER they will be ruled by a power elite, but WHO that power elite will be.

When I become a demented senior citizen, I hope someone has the sense and compassion to keep me from endangering myself and innocent bystanders by diving or burning my apartment down. Similarly, I hope that we have the intelligence and the sense of moral responsibility to keep these people from running and ruining this country for themselves, for us, and for our children.

Republic vs Democracy

http://www.serendipity.li...

It is generally conceded that even a monarchy or a dictatorship is an oligarchy, or a government run by a small, ruling minority.
Such is also the case with a democracy, for this form of government is traditionally controlled at the top by a small ruling oligarchy. The people in a democracy are conditioned to believe that they are indeed the decision-making power of government, but in truth there is almost always a small circle at the top making the decisions for the entirety.

As proof of these contentions, one has only to read the 1928 United States Army Training Manual, which defined democracy as:

A government of the masses. Authority - derived through mass meeting or any form of 'direct' expression. Results in mobocracy. Attitude toward property is communistic - negating property rights. Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether it be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequences. Results in demagogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.

A democracy, according to this definition, is actually controlled by a demagogue, defined as: "A speaker who seeks to make capital of social discontent and gain political influence."

The 1928 definition of a democracy was later changed by those who write Army manuals, however. In 1952, this became the definition of a democracy in The Soldiers Guide, Department of the Army Field Manual, issued in June of 1952:

Meaning of democracy. Because the United States is a democracy, the majority of the people decide how our government will be organized and run - and that includes the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The people do this by electing representatives, and these men and women then carry out the wishes of the people.

Americans don´t seem very

Americans don´t seem very educated...

Well,

the public school system rewards a strong mind. If you work hard and have goals set for your education they can be obtained. However, some that may struggle won't get the help they need and then fall off the map. It all boils down to education being the responsibility of the parent and the individual. The parents have mostly decided that they don't care and don't get involved, outside of prescribing "study pills" for the kids. I think it all relates to one broad theme in this country...the loss of the American spirit.

No..

.. they don't.

;-)

oopppsss..

I didn't see the TJ quote...sorry

Don't forget Thomas Jefferson

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine".

Yup..

.. im adding them real-time. My apologies.

=)

The Founding Fathers On Democracy...

Thomas Jefferson - "A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."..."In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man [democracy], but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."

Elbridge Gerry - "The evils we experience flow from the excess of democracy. The people do not want virtue, but are the dupes of pretended patriots."

John Quincy Adams - “The experience of all former ages had shown that of all human governments, democracy was the most unstable, fluctuating and short-lived.”

Noah Webster - “In democracy … there are commonly tumults and disorders … democracy is generally a very bad government. It is often the most tyrannical government on earth.”

James Madison - “Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.”

John Adams - “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”

Fisher Ames, author of the House language for the First Amendment - “A democracy is a volcano which conceals the fiery materials of its own destruction. These will produce an eruption and carry desolation in their way. The known propensity of a democracy is to licentiousness which the ambitious call, and the ignorant believe to be liberty"

Gouverneur Morris, signer and penman of the Constitution - “We have seen the tumult of democracy terminate … as [it has] everywhere terminated, in despotism … Democracy! savage and wild!"

John Witherspoon, signer - “democracy cannot subsist long nor be carried far into the departments of state – it is very subject to caprice and the madness of popular rage.”

Edmund Jennings Randolph - "Our chief danger arises from the democratic parts of our constitutions."

Benjamin Rush, signer - “democracy is one of the greatest of evils.”

Alexander Hamilton - "Real liberty is neither found in despotism or the extremes of democracy, but in moderate government."..."It has been observed that a pure democracy, if it were practicable, would be the most perfect government. Experience has proved that no position is more false than this. The ancient democracies, in which the people themselves deliberated, never possessed one feature of good government. Their very character was tyranny: their figure deformity."

-------------------------------------------

Woodrow Wilson, the Democratic president who gave control of this nation's money to the Federal Reserve Bank and thus put America's economic destiny in the hands of foreign bankers, was the first public figure to proclaim this nation a "democracy."

Martfuncher the Great - "There is *nothing* democratic about the Bill of Rights"

Restore the Republic.

Now.

Just don't...

democracy BAD freedom GOOD!

JohnGalt300 the video made me laugh and cry, my question is,, do you know how to get in touch with (furniture guy) I think he's the guy that made the video? any way maybe I could ask him to do a video, asking these dumb a###S, if they know who are in the CFR and what the CFR people really do? and ask these dumb a###S did you know that there candidates are a member of this group? and by the way now that you know all this, will you still vote for them? That might be interesting to watch.

People don't want to elect a

Let's send our spokesmen to the masses of idiots out there! We're having a one day donation on April Fools Day(April 1st) to the official campaign! We should be taking advantage of the fact that RP is the only candidate left besides McKeating. RP's manifesto comes out in April and this will be a kickstart for the month. C'mon folks! Go to the thread and state what you're willing to give to freedom!!!

Education is the key. The

Education is the key. The dumbing of Americans is so obvious in this video. This is what we are up against, stupidity. Most people don't like to read, hence the success of the DVD's that are available. Get folks to watch AFTF and then some Ron Paul DVD's in that order. They need to understand where Ron is coming from, before showing them Ron Paul DVD's. Just my 2 cents.

Trade with all nations; alliances with none. ~Thomas Jefferson

oh, don't despair!

This is exactly why the Founders made this country a REPUBLIC and NOT a democracy! DELEGATES choose! The ELECTORAL COLLEGE (a very precise use of language, by the way. A "college that elects." I like that!). I think they were aware, even then, that the masses are by and large just people that exist without paying a great deal of attention to the world around them. The USA has become so culturally comatose that this video doesn't surprise me. The last generation that experienced social hardship is all but completely deceased. Those of adulthood in 1929-1939 are few and far between. We have since then "comforted" our entire future into a trance.
This is actually encouraging to watch. I guarantee you that EVERY Ron Paul supporter is versed on something, or some things, specifically that his message and platform represents. We are knowledgable, we learn, we ask, we are active, we are passionate. Every vote for Ron Paul is a vote that is ONLY for Ron Paul. It also means that we have a VERY STRONG perserverance. And, the up-shot is, if people are THAT easily talked into a candidate, they can vote for Ron just as easily. However, those people on that beach, unless they happen to be delegates, matter little or none at all as to the outcome of the election. Let them stay stupid. That's what they're there for. We were NEVER a democracy. Thank God!

Based on the responses in

Based on the responses in the video, people only pay attention to the barest of details. This is why Barack is ahead. He lacks in detail like crazy. This is also a good reason why Ron as a person would be unlikely to be electable. He provides solid reasons for his policies, and employs logic instead of a pure appeal to emotion.

The beauty of the free market is that you generally get what you deserve.

The trouble with democracy is that you generally get what your idiot neighbors deserve.

I don't know what to even

I don't know what to even say. This is the honest truth but I do not want to hear it. Why? Because it makes me want to leave the country!!!!

I feel so helpless that we are being doomed by a bunch of sheep.

Never thought I would say this but, Onward to the free state project!

I laughed then I cried

You got to love the masses - how do they function in the world. da da
