Let the logical debate begin!
I wish to rekindle the great spirit of this revolution, but I need your help; I need your productive input. By that I mean logical thinking; no immature name calling, nor censoring of the debate (webmaster‘s responsibility). We need to put on our thinking caps and truly consider the following:
1. Why have so many supporters left the movement?
2. Why has hq stopped posting donations?
3. Does an active campaigner book more frequently than every six weeks?
4. Is it about the man?
5. Is it about the party?
6. Is it about the message?
7. What is the best path forward?
Here is my opinion on the above issues:
1. The majority of supporters have left the movement because of the lack of quality leadership and the single digit returns at the primaries. Do we want them back? Yes.
2. The donations are all but non-existent. Why? Voters/former supporters don’t see any evidence of a viable campaign.
3. Yes. An active campaigner has a weekly schedule of events which are posted on his/her website.
4. No, it is not about the man. RP has already said this.
5. No, it is not about the party. It’s about the Constitution and its message of peace, prosperity, and freedom. Principled integrity for the Constitution, comes from you, not your party.
6. Yes, it is all about the message of peace, prosperity, and freedom.
7. Choose a game plan that will draw the support from a majority of undecided American voters as possible in the 18-40 years old range. This plan should address all current major issues facing the average voter/taxpayer and offer a superior solution in each case, to those of all other candidates. I believe Ron Paul’s Comprehensive Economic Revitalization Plan should be the benchmark. Find an active candidate who supports the Constitution, supports Ron Paul, and has a campaign that aligns with Ron Paul’s message. Encourage this candidate to propose a Ron Paul cabinet position (more powerful than a representative). Actively support/fund/promote this candidate and their party, now through November and beyond.

I would like to see the debate continue and never cease,
election season or not. The liberty and economy elements are two things which people like Jefferson understood to be linked. Dr. Paul's message highlighted those two subjects as well as the peace message.
We Need to Force a Debate
You are right. We need a game plan. We need to use people's already exsisting dislike for Mccain... and make them like him even less. And at the same time expose them to Ron Paul. Remember the cheers he got during the debates? We need to force another debate between RON PAUL and mccain.
I feel like Archimedes when he discovered that objects submerged in water.. displace the water and yelled "UR-REE-KA".
We need to force aother debate.

Um, "someguy" is not talking about a RP/McCain debate.
He is "debating" for RP supporters to flock to some other candidate.
The only thing is, there is
The only thing is, there is no other person with Ron Paul's amazing voting record and lifetime of working to uphold the Constitution. Maybe someday there will be. But for me, Ron Paul is a once in a lifetime candidate.
Exacly!
I'm not sure why this "someguy" is trying to lure people away.
Someguy is right though,
We need to revitalize this revolution. There are no other candidates... and its now or never. I AM suggesting the debate. Actually Pat Buchanan suggested it many months ago.
We need to force a debate! Ron Paul needs to call Mccain out.
Semper Fortis
Hopefully the moneybomb will help revitalize
And, if RP will get on Coast to Coast, that would be great.
I, too, would love for RP to demand a debate with McCain. One-on-one, though. (and without Lieberman being his little helper...chuckle)
The R3volution
was always a long-term affair. Even if Dr. Paul were elected (and I still hold out quite a bit of hope that he might be based on what's happening with the delegates), we'd still have a huge battle ahead of us taking over the Congress. We need to control the Congress to effect real change. But we're doing much more than that. Thousands of liberty-minded individuals have attended their local caucuses and are getting more involved than they ever have been. If we stay involved and get to know our GOP locals, we can have a much greater impact in the future. The few supporters who may have given up will be back when our efforts begin to bear fruit. They value the Constitution as much as we do. I believe this campaign was about getting freedom-lovers involved in the process. Spreading the message. I was an apathetic libertarian before Ron Paul came along. I voted, but I never really knew the ins and outs of the system. I didn't even bother to research the candidates. Now I know better. And I'll be voting for Ron Paul in the General Election if I have to write him in. This movement isn't over by a long shot. We've made quite a bit of progress no matter what.
Here's how misguided I once was. 2000: John McCain in the primary, George W. Bush in the General Election. 2004: Dennis Kucinich in the primary, John Kerry in the General Election. 2008: Going all the way with Ron Paul! Sorry I'm 26 and haven't been voting very long lol. But I've recently realized it always pays off if you vote your conscience :-)
Why are you here trying to lure people away from Ron Paul?
I'm surprised you didn't get called out when you were trying to promote yourself in your other thread.
Now you want people here to flock to your "Ron Paul-type" candidate?
Do you not understand the purpose of this forum?
5. Is it about the
5. Is it about the party?
Yes.
The Republican party has become so odious, so big government socialist, so at war with the Constitution, that it is absurd to attempt to "take it back".
If Ron Pauls run Third Party, the energy and the magic will come back.
If he doesn't, pin your hopes on the "delegate strategy" and hope that it works, because if it doesn't, the Ron Paul Revolution will disintegrate.
Third Party is the only way. The stain left on the GOP is too deep to be washed out.

I have to disagree with you.
I have to disagree with you. The Republican Party is weak. It is old and pithy. I believe the third party option is futile because, (as RP has said himself) the campain laws are biased against the viability of third parties. That said. I beleive it is our best option to infiltrate the party at every level and take the party back. We all must learn the ropes and pulley's of the machine. Only by populating the machine with our own kind and by working the levers ourselves will we ever suceed in reversing the course toward totalitarianism.

is working so far. I agree, if it fails miserably, it is time to look for a Plan B. For now, Plan A is working. I think we need to wait till after the convention to see how well it has worked.
I am also wary of the LP trying to siphon off members for furtherance of its own ambitions. Not that i have anything against the LP per ce, but i want to promote liberty in the most effective way possible. For me, the Libertarian infighting over who would dominate the Libertarian ideology after the newsletters came out left a bad taste in my mouth.
There's still a time window,
There's still a time window, perhaps after the convention in September. I'm not saying jump tracks right now...but the time to do so will come, most likely.

I think you miss the point.....
.....the "masses" don't decide anything. If you believe the election process works, then it's the delegates that decide. So the number of people that you have to reach is minimal compared to overall voters. That comes later. I was the only person from my precinct(of about 2000+) to show up at the precinct convention. By default, I was the precinct captain and delegate for the precinct. I went to the county convention last week and was by default a delegate for the county. Now on April 5th I will go to the LD convention and try to remain a delegate. We have RP people on the committees as well. You're speaking of things that have been spoken about for months now. Where have you been. The important thing to do right now while here at the Daily Paul is to spread the word about our next one day donation on April Fools Day(April 1st). Remember saying that by doing so we would make the rich Ron Paul people even more rich? You're either grossly ignorant or a troll. Regardless, please donate your money to a good cause. Here's the link to pledge...

It is about impending doom
Anyone who would stop campaigning does not understand the urgency. Never before in the history of man has tyranny been so close to technology. If we don't wake up America this summer, it is over. This is the last chance. We were given a man with proven integrity. A society involved with many unpopular wars. A government with a historically low approval rating. A collapsing economy. What else do we need. The doctor and his message is currently getting stronger. He is being proved right. The noise from all the candidates is lessened now. WE can get the word out. Summer is coming, people will be turning off their TV's. Bring a flag to the Beach.
I was talking to NYC HQ the other day and we are starting to plan Celebrity musician endorsement concerts. Famous musicians can out do the MSM. The doctor needs these endorsements. They have been singing about this message for years. Are they all hypocrites?? Can we not believe their words?? If John Lennon was alive today he would be right with us. So would Bob Marley. We need these people and will make some Noise.

Now is the opportunity
Ronald Reagan didn't do too
Ronald Reagan didn't do too well in his first attempt at the White House. He mopped up on his second and third attempt.
The other candidates had a six month start on Dr. Paul. It takes time to build political movements.
The problem is that too many view Dr. Paul's accomplishment as a "loss" or a "defeat". Seasoned political managers view Dr. Paul's feats as stunning and they know the hard-core remnant will yield considerable power of disruption in the future.
Don't miss out on Dr. Paul's victories because the bar being stared at is set too high...
Ronald Reagan never really
Ronald Reagan never really succeeded, in my opinion. I feel that Dr. Paul has already accomplished more to advance conservatism than Mr. Reagan did. All Ronald Reagan accomplished was getting elected by working the GOP system, up to and including kowtowing to the Rockefeller wing and its CFR philosophies. He left no ideological footprint on the office because the Republican Party is beyond conservative ideology.

Yeah..
.. there was a disconnect between Reagan's message and what actually he actually accomplished. I still like Reagan's message though and so did Dr. Paul at the time.
I was referring to his election success and the success of creating a new coalition of conservatives, democrats, and libertarians...

I'm still here
and understand this is just the beginning. The HARD work is before us! The r3VOLution can NEVER end!
If some thought just electing Ron Paul would be the answer, think again. It would be about everything else with which he would have to deal.
That was our part then and is still our part. One man cannot do it all. So, if they've left, the didn't get the message and it's easier to be a sheeple. We will have to deal with the collective ignorant for many years.
People who do not have their brains turned don't know they are ignorant. They don't want to hear it. Thus, they and their families will have to live with the consequences.
Me, myself, and I will be involved until I can't think any longer or until I take my last breath. I have children, grandchildren, for crying out loud.
It's not about me - it's about forever.
Follow The Leader
I suspect those who have left -- or are in temporary hibernation -- are those who "need" or at least want a leader (that is to say, someone else) to guide them. And while I may shake my head, I can't be too terribly hard on many of them; Americans have, as a whole, been conditioned to play Follow The Leader, whether they realize it or not. If the Leader du Jour no longer seems to be a strong leader, these folks will seek out someone else to follow, or flutter around whichever way the wind blows...usually landing under the umbrella of whoever or whatever is "most popular" that day.
This revolution, however, is not about a leader with a bunch of followers. It's about a bunch of leaders following the Constitution. As much as I adore RP (and I do!), this is ultimately about us, collectively and individually, with an emphasis on the individual part. If we want a return to our country's roots, it is up to us to make it so.
That includes accepting and exercising our own responsibility (not HQ's, not RP's) to "evangelize" the messages of freedom, peace and prosperity.
Those still active in the revolution get it about personal responsibility and action. We aren't waiting around for someone to inspire us. The Constitution is inspiration enough.
RP has told us this. It's not about him, and it's not up to him -- it's up to us. Let's show him (and each other, and our families and ourselves -- and our country!) what we're made of.
WE. The People. !!!
Why have so many supporters
Why have so many supporters left the movement?
After Super Tuesday, I gave up hope for a President Ron Paul, left 3 meetup groups, quit visiting daily paul for a few weeks and almost didn't go to the county convention. I figured, why bother? I was only an alternate delegate and I couldn't vote. Plus, some fellow Ron Paul delegates were not attending.
Lucky for me, another supporter encouraged me to attend. At that convention we went over the republican platform that the platform committee had recently written. Because a Ron Paul supporter was on that committee, some of Ron Paul's ideas were included. And while I couldn't vote, I could speak out on the planks that needed discussion. I spoke up in order to support the other Ron Paul speaker. That was a new thing for me- to speak in public. Most of the Ron Paul planks stayed. Only 2 were stricken.
Moreover, instead of being just an alternate delegate, I am now a delegate and am going forward to the district convention. And to think I almost stayed home.
That county convention brought me back to daily paul every day and though I am not as excited as I was on Dec. 16th, I am optimistic that Ron Paul's ideas will become more and more part of the republican party. It remains to be seen.
Very good thoughts here, but
I think the target age group should be quite a bit older, because, if you look at the exit polls, you'll see the majority of voters are more like 45 to 70 y.o.
If you check the census figures, you will find most
Americans fall into the 18-40 y.o. group. This should be our target. That is why I believe a graduation packet should be developed (along the lines of the RP Economic Revitalization Plan and ColdFusion's Common Sense) and distributed on all cars at all upcoming HS and college graduations. This is a great opportunity to not overlook. The challenge is to find the rp type candidate to place in that packet.

Still Here:
I for one am still here and have been spreading whatever I can in my area.
There is not much I can do elsewhere, but am staying in touch with the right people when the time is upon us to do more. I have sent everything I had left over to someone in other states that needed them and am sure that since things are at a stand still in my state, others must be doing the same as me. I have very little money and no influance but other can do more. I continue to spread the info and draw more people in to reason everyday. My signs are still up and my vehicles still shine with huge RP stuff on them. I turn new heads everyday. I feel sure in my heart that when it is time, all of those who "appear" to have left, will stand up to be counted again. My thanks to each of you.
I am looking forward to saying the words President Ron Paul !!!
I'll bite
1. Why have so many supporters left the movement?
I don't think they left, some are running through a variety of emotions right now...they are floundering..hoping ...waiting, holding their breaths. A small portion are broken and beaten and feel the machine has won. A large portion are here and will never be deterred because we believe what we believe and cannot be swayed. If anyone at all "left", they were either fooled by Obama or Decided to support the party with McJuan but given the slightest encouragement would snap right back.
2. Why has hq stopped posting donations?
Because it is better to not have a public display of the incoming funds unless they are truly impressive...and they were. Now alot of us are in a wait and see mode or maxed out.....but if the money is needed, it will come in, look at the congressional site. Dr. Paul asked and we answered. I will personally be donating on any money bomb day that comes up as a show of support, even if it means some debt.
3. Does an active campaigner book more frequently than every six weeks?
Yes as often as possible.
4. Is it about the man?
No, but I've grown very fond of Dr. Paul. I am in utter awe of his voting record. His courage to stick to what he believes in is mind boggling. He has become a role model for me. A true patriot and hero. Everything I have done for him is a payback for the years he spent defending myself and my family.
5. Is it about the party?
Absolutely not for me, for some others it might be. I believe in supporting the Constitution 100% whomever carries that message is my candidate. I was registered independent before the primaries and ran down and switched it in order to vote for Dr. Paul.
6. Is it about the message?
100%
7. What is the best path forward?
The best path forward is taking back the GOP because it's the only path we have, independent runs do not seem to work. Plus half the GOP believes in alot of Dr. Paul's platform if you remove the war issue. We are a large group, but small in comparison to the mindless masses voting for Mcjuan because he will "keep them safe" or because they saw him on TV the most. What options does a small, dedicated, organized and powerful group have? Infiltration is the best, which is the current path. The next best would be swaying the election in the most Constitutional direction. If a Dr. Paul approved third party came in(after the convention), we could become an instant support group for them. The GOP is probably wondering day and night how they could get us to join McDevil but they know it is not possible because we love America as founded and would love to see each and every Neocon imprisoned for their treason. They know that 95% of us will not vote for McCrazy and can never be convinced.
I personally am hoping the delegate plan works, it sounds like a great plan and we are seeing successes already.
Good points
The Libertarian Party was likewise infiltrated by the so-called neocons - to control it and keep it down. Thus demonstrating the neocons are neither new or conservatives. One would think the Libertarian Party is where our energy need be directed. While we see so much activity focusing around the corrupt GOP. Perhaps in this issue Dr. Paul is calling the tune. He says he is sticking with the GOP, he himself having been in the Libertarian Movement. While we fight against the current stone walls of communism, mind-numbness, fascism, bankers, etc. there are the deeper trenches of forced indoctrination of our children and the constant barrage on our minds, opinions, thoughts and feelings by those who would (and do) control us. Perhaps we need to stay engaged on all these fronts. Are there more of us than them?

The reason I believe so many
The reason I believe so many supporters have left is because they believe that McCain has already won the nomination...most don't understand the delegate process or that there will be no nominee until September. Unfortunately, RP himself has set this into motion with his last few messages...folks don't see a reason to fight if they aren't fighting to get RP in the White House. I'm afraid that even the March on DC in June won't be as big as it could have been for the mere fact everyone is believing he has given up on the Presidency. They are following RP's lead and well, he isn't leading to the White House anymore...I am heartbroken...I have been trying to explain to ppl that he is still in the race and he could still win the nomination, but most don't believe it and look at me like I am crazy...saying McInsane has already won and rp quit......so the question is.....how do we get the fire back???? I guess in the end that would be up to Ron Paul himself...continuing to say that he can't win in the conventional sense makes everyone think he has given up.
Would a Ron Paul type candidate light your fire?
Take the time to review the LP candidates. Find the closest fit to Ron Paul on the issues. Let me know who that is and should Ron Paul endorse that candidate? Should we invite that candidate to the marches? Give me your feedback. Thank you and keep the faith!
God will work with you but not for you - Walter Russell
no, a LP candidate would not excite me
While I have nothing but respect for anyone -- well, anyone decent, at least -- who puts him- or herself forward as a candidate for president and thus offers to (at least potentially) submit to an uncomfortable degree of media scrutiny, I would not get excited about someone other than RP running as a Libertarian. We've done that repeatedly already and it doesn't result in a win. To win at present, you gotta have that R or D by your name. Too many sheeple simply won't consider anything else. So, at that point it's an educational campaign (which is good, per se, just not exciting) or a protest vote (which is also good, per se, if there's no worthy candidate among the 2 majors).
*If* RP changed his mind (which I don't expect) and ran as a Libertarian candidate in November, I would remain excited about his candidacy, but I would still not expect to win. It *might* be possible, in this case, due to his career and the degree of "buzz" we've already seen build up around him in the past year, but it would still be an incredible uphill battle and would take more miracles to succeed than even the current GOP nomination battle. At least in this battle, we have delegates to the RNC (and more likely) and Ron's career in the House within the GOP to stand on in making the bid.
The thought of starting over from square 1 with a no-name Libertarian, at this point, frankly depresses me, not excites me. I would be unlikely to devote any significant energy to such an effort, and would focus my energy on other races instead. We have a lot of good RP Republicans running around the country now and more all the time. Those are races I can get at least enthused about; excited might be too strong a word for my feelings about any one of those races, but I'd rather achieve some wins and build on that than work on something which would seem to me to be a total waste of energy. (I exclude the present RP campaign from that due to its "rainmaker" status; even if RP absolutely couldn't win, the good things already coming from his bid make it a worthy investment of time.)

7. Interesting idea
I can assure you
many have re-engaged on a deeper more meaningful level. There is a saying something to the effect "quiet water runs deep". The brash and noisy People Campaign of last year got caught up short on the rocks of reality of rigged elections, manipulative and deceptive MSM, tricky Repub party and numerous other annoying reality checkers. Some of the more sincere type saw through the smoke and mirror haze enough to discern a new direction - delegates and seizing control of the party apparatik on local, state and federal levels. Others are doing the educate your neighbor angle. Please don't for a moment misthink the revolution is over. It has simply down shifted into a slower but more powerful gear. Euphoric enthusiasm has transformed into dogged and resolute determination.
Yes! Yes!
That is where I am. That is where most of us are.
"Nothing is as it appears; everything is smoke and mirrors"
Are we revolutionaries the only kids on the block or
are we the new kids on the block? Libertarians have been pushing freedom and limited government for over 35 years, and are recognized in all states. We have to ask ourselves is it worthwhile to add new blood to an established party who are kindred spirits and like minds or expend much energy trying to reform a thoroghly currupt gop? Many supporters have talked about starting a whole new party after November. Why are we turning our backs to a party that welcomes us with open arms and is our political friend?
God will work with you but not for you - Walter Russell
Please tell me if I am wrong
Please tell me if I am wrong in this assessment. I have a bitter taste in my mouth for the fact that party lines dictate principle too much of the time. We have the Most Amazing presidential candidate in the running this election. He is someone whose message goes Far beyond any party lines yet the Libertarians are not endorsing him. No, it appears to be alllll about the party label, just as it is with Democrats and neo-con Republicans. This Is Not About A Political Party! This is about the Constitution....this is about what is good and right for We The People! The Libertarians lose respect in my eyes by not endorsing RP...and that loss of respect is not going to come back any time soon because of this lack of endorsement.
Yes, you are wrong on this one belief. However, if you
check out the LP candidates, especially Christine Smith, an enthusiastic speaker, you will find many endorsements for Ron Paul. The LP has admitted most of their members are Ron Paul fans. Therefore, after reviewing all the LP candidates, tell me who is closest to Ron Paul on the issues and whether Ron Paul should endorse that candidate. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I too noticed the drop in
I too noticed the drop in internet activity/support and was dismayed about it until I put some thought into it. In our state, I have noticed that the internet support dropped because more of us are doing the boots-on-the-ground type stuff. Me included. We are working on delegates, getting Constitutional candidates elected.....attending more function/meetings where we can reach a wider face-to-face audience, etc. I see us winning here not cuz of our internet activity but because of all the additional time we are devoting to the message Away from our computers. Our economy here has been a struggle for a LONG time now and most people I know are in survival mode...simply put, they don't have any money to donate. Our heat bill has more than Doubled since last year, for a small example. Yet, I have had three people come out of the woodwork and offer to drive me around to do canvassing in the past two weeks (I am disabled)...three people I thought I had not yet been able to make "see the light". So don't lose hope....the media blackout is Not winning!
I think unifying projects like the Blimp, the race car, the Granny Warriors, LimoBob, etc were awesome for the movement and I would like to see these kinds of projects continue and increase.......we have Brilliant and Creative minds in our midst...let's celebrate them and support them!
Sorry I didn't address your input point-by-point...I merely relayed my thoughts as they came to me.....
