What if he had come out on tv and said...
"we are trying to win the nomination of the GOP by reversing the bound delegates, and by taking over the GOP on the local, county, and state level. So we can then go all the way to the national convention and create a brokered convention in which we will then win the nomination, because no one really wants mccain to be nominated. Thank you for your time, and wish us luck"

Waiting for an answer
I have spent a ton of money on this campaign. I have tried my best to get people involved and informed. But unless I know the facts I can't convince anyone. After watching Dr. Paul and Benten in these updates on Youtube and interviews in the media lately I have found that my only motivation is coming from sites like dailypaul, from other supporters who I don't really know. From people who as far as I know don't have any direct communication with his campaign. So I emailed Pauls campaign myself and asked them some direct questions. I expect to get direct answers. If I get more of the same double-speak that we see in the interviews then I am going to seriously reconsider my options. I will still keep my commitment to the april 1 money bomb but after that I may just invest my money in more bullets and beans.
I know this is not the attitude that is sought after on this site but that is how I am starting to feel. Like a horse pulling an empty cart. We'll see.

Thanks for sharing your honest opinions, most of which I share with you. Sometimes I do feel that the national HQ has toyed with us from the beginning, raising our hopes only to dash them, or leaving us in almsot continual confusion for the last few weeks over the status of the campaign. I have to put a bit of the blame on Ron Paul himself, who is only human and can and will makes some mistakes, but the national campaign effort has been so botched as to be an embarrassment ---- almost everything that this campaign and movement has accomplished, in my opinion, has been IN SPITE of them, and not because of them.

honestly, our chances of actually getting RP the nomination? Not so good. But it is super important we continue. This is a long term effort. We are winning influence, and setting the stage for the future. Also, we have a ton of candidates running this year for every level of office. We are getting the message into the mainstream. This is HUGE.
We also might get RP a speaking spot at the convention. This would also be HUGE.
We should focus on the best possible scenario. It is certainly possible we can win. RP and Benton both know the ony way to actually win is to overturn the rules at state conventions. If they said they were encouraging this, the media would spin it like we were subverting the will of people, and it would be horrible propaganda. Let the ignorant believe there is no chance.

I will vote for Ron Paul, and campaign for him and other candidates who will fight for the Constitution.
I have studied my states delegate process carefully, and come to my own conclusion regarding whether or not Ron Paul can win my state. Knowledge that you fought for will satisfy you the most. Learn about your state, and see if you believe you can do anything to help this campaign or not. Waiting for them is asking a lot of a pared-down, grass-roots campaign staff.

I got out of the political process after I voted for the first "read my lips" lying ass Bush. I moved back here from Texas in November 2007 and didn't here about Paul until late December. You know the rest of the Louisiana story.
Ron Paul cured my apathy but I feel it creeping back. Now if anyone here can tell me what I can do to help Paul get nominated then I'm all ears. Aside from donating to the campaign I don't know. I have one hand tied and the rope is being pulled around the other.
And to me it's Ron Paul or bust. To me this is our last chance. In four years Paul will be 77 which is awful old to be running for President. In four years our house of cards will probably have crumbled. So if Paul can't win the nomination then why should I even keep trying. That's how I feel and that is why I want to hear from his campaign. I trust him and if he says there is still a chance then I'm still in. But if not then apathy sets in and I focus on preparing for the times to come.
My next chance to vote is in November. If Paul is on the ticket then I will surely vote, but if not then I will be holed up here and prepaired for the shit to hit the fan. If it doesn't hit sooner.
Jesse Benton is clearly confused.
He stated John McCain is the Republican nominee though that is an impossiblity as not one single delegate has cast a vote for him at the Repulican Convention.
He was asked if Ron Paul is "in or out of the campaign for President" and he refused to answer.
He was asked if Ron Paul, by continuing to campaign, was attempting to be the Republican nominee and he refused to answer.
Glittering generalities, obfuscation, circumlocution and misleading rhetoric may be left to the other candidates but as a spokesman Mr. Benton should be able to articulate a one word answer for a direct question. I'm really tired of having to explain to people that Ron Paul is still running for President of the United States of America as a Republican and then listening to a grossly incompetent spokesman without a modicum of comprehension embarrass and alienate every person involved with the campaign.

Why are you bitching and moaning about Benton saying the EXACT SAME THING Dr. Paul has said several times himself?
Nobody is forcing Dr. Paul to keep Benton on staff. From a public perspective ,when you piss on Benton you are pissing on Dr. Paul's judgment. Dr. Paul seems happy with Benton.
Also, when you say "embarrass and alienate EVERY PERSON involved with the campaign". Are you really that arrogant to claim you represent all or even a majority of Ron Paul campaign workers?
It is not only Benton who is saying that McCain has the needed delegates to wrap up the nomination. Dr. Paul and his son Rand have said the same thing repeatedly recently.
In my conversations with Ron Paul supporters who are actively WORKING HARD in the state caucus and convention processes, I find that MOST of them understand that Ron Paul will not be getting the Republican nomination and they don't believe in some Secret Magic Stealth Plan that is going to snag the nomination. You disrespect them with the swipes of your wide brush that allows no opinion except your own.
Dr. Paul and Rand have said let's take the significant victories we have won and parlay them into the effort to become entrenched in the state GOP electoral and platform process and also into electing as many Ron Paul Republicans as possible in the future. Have some RESPECT for those who are working HARD but don't believe identical to yourself.
Quit demanding that all Ron Paul supporters fall in lock-step with your opinions and quit pissing on them for not doing it.

Circumlocution - this is a form of obfuscation when you use many and/or large words to avoid or confuse.
Misleading rhetoric - this is a 2-in-1 accusation by you accusing Benton of INTENTIONALLY trying to mislead and using fluffy words meant to appeal to emotions instead of reason(rhetoric).

Now is this how the strategy is planned? Keep repeating that Ron Paul can't get the nomination so that all of McCain's supporters think their job is done & stay home & cool their heels? I hope so, because Ron Paul CAN get the nomination if all of us become state delegates to the national convention. I have only seen a few newspapers, out of thousands, and NO television news, report what is going on at these county conventions - how Ron Paul supporters are taking the delegate slots in BIG majorities. What really bugs me about the "we're not gonna get the nomination," talk is the msg it sends to the Ron Paul supporters who aren't junkies like all of us. They think it's over! It's not!!! There are a lot of Ron Paul supporters who aren't in the trenches like us & they're getting the wrong msg. I think if they knew we were still fighting - and successfully - they might get up off the couch & join us in the trenches.

Given Ron´s intelligence and experience, he hardly does anything, without a strategy in mind. Just trust in him.
