Candidates Ignore Financial Crisis

Paul Krugman | New York Times

We’re now in the midst of an epic financial crisis, which ought to be at the center of the election debate. But it isn’t.

Now, I don’t expect presidential campaigns to have all the answers to our current crisis — even financial experts are scrambling to keep up with events. But I do think we’re entitled to more answers, and in particular a clearer commitment to financial reform, than we’re getting so far.

In truth, I don’t expect much from John McCain, who has both admitted not knowing much about economics and denied having ever said that. Anyway, lately he’s been busy demonstrating that he doesn’t know much about the Middle East, either.

Yet the McCain campaign’s silence on the financial crisis has disappointed even my low expectations.

In a time like this

Financial crisis and tax filing approaching why aren't we hearing less taxes!?! Get the government out of our pocket so we can work to correct this. We need a third party desperately to raise these points. Where the hell is Bob Barr in all of this? Weren't the libertarians entertaining his candidacy?

Where have you been?

We do have someone talking less taxes, like no IRS eventually, and we have someone raising these points mentioned, his name is Ron Paul, and he is a candidate. You are asking where the hell is Bob Barr, I want to know who the hell is Bob Barr, and what does he have to do with anything we are talking about here on a Ron Paul supporters site?

"Who the hell is Bob Barr,

and what does he have to do with anything we are talking about here on a Ron Paul supporters site?"

Two answers:
(1) Read this article. (I'd prefer that, since I'm the writer 8)

or (2) Watch this video:

What I find amazing is

What I find amazing is that they would put an article like this out, people read it and still vote for the person that they were just told doesn't seem to have a solution to the problem.

"The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for." Maureen Dowd

Although I would certainly agree with the remarks

concerning Sen. McCain't, he is less harsh on Clinton and Obama. Clearly, the bias displayed is toward a more statist economy and he makes no mention of still-candidate: Dr. Paul. In fact, Dr. Paul has predicted our current economic situation for sometime. He's not the only one of course, but then he is the only candidate for president who has addressed these issues honestly and correctly and.....I might add, with considerable bravery. He knew full well that his message would not be received with some kind of "warm and fuzzy" response, but he told the truth anyway. There's no mention of Dr. Paul in this article and, due to that fact, the overall value of the article is diminished.

Yes, my point exactly

from my earlier post. To add to that, Ron Paul is the only person I have seen confront the Federal Reserve with the the correct questions right to their face, and not back down. So this writer, like so many do, only went so far with the truth, and left out the more important part concerning Ron Paul, leaving people with the feeling they have no solution to the problem.

Re: Hillary's appoach

Now where have I heard that "won't cost the tax payer a thing" argument before? It NEVER works out that way....sigh

Can't give any credence

to these guys that write articles like this one, when he doesn't even refer to the fact that there is a candidate who has a great deal of knowledge about our financial crisis and was and is ringing the alarm every chance he gets. Someone should clue Mr. Krugman in to Ron Paul---unless he mentions him on the remaining part of the article, he is wasting his time complaining about it.

Spitzer was Bushwacked

The government monopoly of education is the biggest business in America. It doesn’t generate revenue for the Fed like war does, but “free” rides on the yellow bus to “public” school has sure made Americans think and act like socialists! Pull the weeds from the Marxist gardens; pull your kids and grandkids from the government schools.

I absolutely would if I

I absolutely would if I could afford to. But since I can't opt out of my enormous property tax, and I can't effectively afford to pay for school twice (property taxes for the govt. school + private tuition), I'm pretty much stuck picking the least of all evils in education in my area.

Now, I can't wait to hear

Now, I can't wait to hear OneVoiceOfReason's smug remark to you, the owner of this website, pertaining to the epic financial crisis we are facing. It's high time an ignore feature was implemented Michael. Many are leaving the site because of the trolls man. A simple ignore feature would save everyone a LOT of headaches.
