We Still Have a Campaign to Support, Remember?

We are six months out from the convention in Minneapolis and a lot will happen between then and now. Ron Paul is still in the race, is still getting media coverage and remains a viable candidate. Long shot, yes, but he always was, and, as Newsweek states, he has hundreds of thousands of supporters--maybe the most ardent in U.S. political history. You and I are part of that.

McCain has not won, nor has anybody else. This is the time to dig in and keep the message and campaign alive.

Therefore I urge the Daily Paul community to place their hearts and efforts on the campaign; and creating posts that support its forward movement.

Lately, so many posts have been created that have nothing to do with Ron Paul or his campaign and this is not helpful to anyone. Nor is name-calling. Drop an email if you don't like someone, but please keep the Daily Paul a source of encouragement and inspiration to others. This campaign is difficult enough without pettiness.

So much digital ink has been wasted over the 911 stuff. If you are a truther, fine; if you are against truthers, fine. Take it outside, please. We're here to help Ron Paul, not debate 911.

To buy gold or not buy gold? I don't care. Take it outside please, do whatever makes you happy but please keep the posts focused on helping Dr. Paul and the campaign.

All that said, there are some very fine posts that are good and informative and which probably are good to have, especially since the Financial markets are going haywire now, and RP's position is well known (to us) about them.

Last, sometimes people will just go to any old post and post a long essay that has nothing to do with the thread. Well duh. Buy a soapbox and take your rant outside please. We are all here to help Ron Paul. That's the point.

Campaign

We need to continue to campaign for Ron Paul and the revolution.

stop drinking the tapwater

and FOCUS. This is what we are focusing on. Get your Delegates together and study

Instead of DC

We need to go to the convention.

MSM would have a hard time ignoring us there.

We will also have delegates there, and hopefully Ron Paul will be able to speak.

Most Republicans are starving for a conservative now that the only choice is McCain. Even the neocon blogs are not entirely happy

Dr. Paul

Is the one

And what happens after the GOP national convention?

Apparently, no one was interested in thinking past the convention, anyway.

See the reply below

.
Wow, are you negative. Did you miss your happy meal?

Debate

Would love to see a debate between Ron Paul and McCain. Ron would eat him up!

God, that would be

God, that would be hilarious! I can just picture McShame twitching and jerking, with that hideous shit-eating grin of his, as his puppet masters twist and yank his strings in a vain attempt to counter the rhetorical blows rained down on him by Ron Paul. I would PAY good money to see that!

that grin....it's pure

that grin....it's pure insanity.

Yeah, like a ventriloquist's

Yeah, like a ventriloquist's dummy with the mouth hanging open. Come to think of it ........

If not registered Republican...

How can individuals who are not registered Republicans help the Ron Paul campaign from this point forward? Is it too late to register and become a delegate in certain states?

In the last several presidential elections a good SONG and a smile have seemed worth more than 1000 votes, at least in terms of effecting positive change in the world. And while I will certainly vote for Ron Paul if he's on the presidential ballot, I have grown extremely cynical about this country's vote tally process. Are there plans for Ron Paul supporters to get involved into the electoral college as well?

More Songs & More Smiles

Pardon my ignorance...how can Ron Paul win?

I ask with the best intentions. Maybe you can pump up supporters' zeal (including mine) if you spell out how Ron Paul can still win. Again, pardon my political ignorance, but didn't McCain lock up the delegates' vote already?

BTW: I plan to vote for Ron Paul regardless (even if I have to carve "Ron Paul" in the DieBold screen).

there

So there

See this thread

http://www.dailypaul.com/...

There have been many, many posts about not relying on the delegate counts per the MSM. Each state has different rules and it became very obvious that the MSM had no clue as to what they were talking about.

Also, research what a "brokered convention" is - both the Dems and the GOP may run into such a problem this year.

Good question

.
If Ron Paul wins, it won't be because of "politics as usual." Since RP is the only other republican candidate, he would most likely move to the forefront in the event that something happened to John McCain - whether it was a scandal, or illness, or something unforeseeable.

As well, many RP supporters are becoming delegates and that may well put a foot in the door toward Ron Paul moving ahead.

There may be further national calamities (such as the housing disaster, the banks, the FED, Phil Donahue's new "The War Project") that may spur a great change in the tide of sentiment in the nation.

There are no easy answers to your question, just as there are no sure things.

Long ago, a young batter hit a pop fly in Fenway Park. Carlton Fisk was the catcher. The young batter figured he would be caught out, so he just trotted toward first base. After the ball was caught and the guy was out, Carlton Fisk yelled at the guy. He said, "You run like hell, no matter what you think might happen!" The young player got a good lesson that day.

Yes, the odds are very long, maybe insurmountable. But we just can't give up. We have to give 100% because---like that young ball player---we really don't know what is going to happen. So we have to do our best regardless.

Question about delegates

I thought the primaries ended the delegate vote. The 'winner' needed 1191 delegate votes and McCain receieved more than that..So why are we trying to add more Ron Paul delegates? What good will post-primary delegates do? To make a show of force at the Republican convention?

Mind you, I am looking for 'the battle plan' (besides donating).

I want Ron Paul to win the presidency...not just make a point.

The answer

is that not all delegates are "bound" to vote for a given candidate by the results of the caucuses and primaries, and even those that are can be "unbound" in the county and state conventions that occur after Super Tuesday, or whenever each state's election is held.

A great deal of info has been published on this site that goes into detail about how the process really works, and how the MSM have been fooling people for years because they have not understood how the process really works.

Look up "SGP" here; he's Dr. Steve Parent and he seems to be our resident expert on this subject...

Try this:
http://www.dailypaul.com/...

Maybe

I think the convention has to vote to confirm the nomination. I think there has been a case in the past where a candidate had the number of delegates going in but lost on the first ballot. I am not positive about this. The convention will tell the story.

we still have a campaign to support...

thanks zen!
great post with great points for us all to consider and remember!

Nonetheless, I would bet

Nonetheless, I would bet that--aside from a very small handful of trolls, everyone who posts to this site will be voting for Ron Paul in November. Hence, the "off-topic posters" are still Ron Paul supporters.

If you'll look at the subtitle of the Forum, it does not say "Dedicated to Ron Paul's Campaign for the GOP Presidential Nomination". It says "Dedicated to restoring Constitutional Government to the United States of America".

If the editor of the Forum makes a post stating that discussions about things other than RP's 2008 GOP race are off-topic and should be flagged, I'll respect that. Otherwise, I think you assume too much.

Not Daily Restoring Constitutional Government. That would be another site. Probably a good one.

I think you need to re-read

I think you need to re-read the banner under the title of "Daily Paul". Yes, this site is primarily about Ron Paul, but also about "restoring consititutional government", which is a diverse and multi-pronged campaign. I think almost any topic that is pertinent to the restoration of freedom and liberty in this country, or that threatens the same, is fair game here.

LOL

I always thought this was a site for Dr. Ron Paul. Prolly good to be reminded to keep the focus on the campaign. He is the only one who would restore a Constitutional government, so Im with Zen on this.

Thanks "Zenpiper"

I agree with "UnitedWeStand", you have brought up some suggestions that all of us who want to help Ron Paul will try to keep in mind!

In order to accomplish our goals, we must stay focused and not get into pettiness. The opposition loves it I'm sure when we get off-course.

Read this!

Thanks to Zenpiper for his comment that brings up many good points.

For example, don't get off the track with petty remarks, etc. - stay focused - we are here to HELP Ron Paul.

As Zenpiper says
"Therefore I urge the Daily Paul community to place their hearts and efforts on the campaign; and creating posts that support its forward movement."

Also, if you know anybody in

Also, if you know anybody in any of the later 9 states and 2 terrotories, offer to mail them your left-over campaign materials.

Tracy

Are you saying...

that basically the only posts on DP would be about becoming delegates, then?

Sounds pretty boring to me, not a site I would continue to return to.

If RP were to win the nomination, I would hope that a lot of the "unrelated" information on DP, including links, would be of value to explain RP's concepts before the general election to those who voted for other candidates.

Never mentioned delegates.

.
Laurie, did I mention delegates? No. There are hundreds of other topics, videos, posts from others sites, links to stories in the media, campaign strategies, RP appearances, and--generally--how we can help Our Guy move forward.

Delegates are very important, but others are more savvy about that topic than I am, and there have been quite a few posts about how to become one.

Even if I wanted to become a delegate I am relegated to the sidelines, but that doesn't mean I don't carry slim-jims, wear my hat and talk about Ron Paul.

What matters most to me are the issues he talks about with convincing aplomb: the financial mess, the futility of the war, how the GOP has strayed from its roots, how the political systems has fallen into the hands of special interests, the media and the powerful behind-the-scenes people. These are all worth talking, and posting, about.

Many of those other topics are being flag-deleted

See my current thread:

http://www.dailypaul.com/...
And what happens after the GOP national convention?

The lack of discussion is a clear indication to me that this movement will not have much more of an impact than prior ones with many of the same issues.

Sounds like...

.
You are just the person to begin such a discussion. With luck and support, it may be a very positive experience for many. And, it could help pave the way for future discussions about a post-convention GOP, of which RP would play a significant part.

So much for a discussion

about planning for after the convention-

Ball is in your court Laurie

.
Instead of complaining, take action. Start a thread, post something constructive. I bet you can do it. I have see your posts and you have much to offer.

I can't speak for the author, but I took the meaning....

....as one should focus on Ron Paul's campaign and message. I don't believe delegates is the only issue, although I believe it to be the life-blood of making any kind of "change" in this country. Primaries, including my own, have yet to be held in several states. There's a lot of stuff to talk about. That's my 2¢ anyhow.
