I'm Sorry But Would Somebody Remind Me Again Why We're At War

I was reading this article about GWB and him saying that American families should take comfort knowing that they are not forgotten for the sacrifices they've made to the war (the loss of a son or daughter or mother or father or brother or sister -- and the list of people important to us goes on) be it the first casualty or the most recent --
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...

I mean listen to this garbage:
“One day, people will look back at this moment in history and say, ‘Thank God there were courageous people willing to serve because they laid the foundation for peace for generations to come,’ “ Bush said at the State Department after a two-hour briefing on U.S. diplomatic strategy around the world. “I vow so long as I am president to make sure that those lives were not lost in vain.”

Well, like I said -- I read the article and all of a sudden became confused again as to why we were over there fighting in a land that doesn't belong to us // maybe somebody out there can help refresh my memory in that regard. Why are we there?

All that $$ (billions on top of billions of $$) spent over there every couple of DAYS -- for what? All those lives our bombs have taken -- for what? All those sons and daughters that GWB claims won't be forgotten -- I'm completely lost for an answer here folks. No joke.

Just this past weekend it was reported that the number of war deaths (our side) has reached 4000. I heard this joker call in to C-SPAN and try and remind everyone listening that we had a lot more deaths on D-Day, a lot more deaths from the Vietnam War // I never did get the caller's point, it seemed to me they were suggesting we really don't have much to complain about since 4000 is a long way from the bigger numbers.

-- What the hell is wrong with some people?

Read yesterday that MCCAIN claims we're still winning in Iraq even though those 4000 numbers are being flashed across the TV screens and news print. Winning what is what comes jumping back into my head -- What? Why are we even over there -- Saddam? WMD? Spread Democracy? Oil? None of it matters to me, personally because I know none of it was truly worth a damn thing (especially those WMD lies and that spread democracy crap). What the hell is going on?

And each day we get up across this land we are being told the same damn things -- when in reality the only things that are really changed day by day are the number of deaths increase and we continue to dump billions of $$ on a land I just don't understand the importance of. Never have, actually.

Sometimes I get the impression that GWB considers himself more the President of Iraq than he does the USA. Maybe by maintaining a war over there, shooting and killing and 'playing' cowboy and indians -- He feels like Dictator without having to have all the folks here really concerned about him being that. He did tell us almost that not too awfully long ago when he reminded all of us he is THE DECIDER -- But to me his decisions have been totally piss poor from day one. Maybe you see it differently. But I think it's time to impeach the entire lot of them for war crimes and massive disrespect and massive lies to the American People. Why do we allow another day to go by w/o doing something to fix this mess?

Why are we at war again? Can somebody help me understand this mess? Thanks.

-- edited to add (a VIDEO of GWB interviewed in Ireland) // This example only makes me question everything all the more:

Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11 whatsoever. Sadam has always been a bad guy (some would say that is the kind of leader that the people needed to maintain order, and they are correct--once we're out there will no doubt be another Sadam in his stead), yet there are far more pressing global matters to remedy: the genocide, mass starvation, and mass disease in Africa that all could have been solved by now. Also, Iraq is the birthplace of civilization...what gives us the right to dictate how the oldest civilization on earth conducts itself?

Hover through the fog and filthy air!

I can't help but be reminded of these Shakespearean lines when I read all this nonesense in the news around me. Nothing makes any sense any more. People's lives have become meaningless. Our soldiers have become indoctrinated much like those in Nazi Germany. Our efforts are futile and a remarkable waste. We have a blathering idiot for President. We, the United States of America, have for the highest office in our land, a true imbecile, an incompetent fool. Corruption is rampant. I don't really know where to even begin. The only thing left worth clinging on to is this thing called the Ron Paul Revolution. Those are truly dark times.

Ah, Macbeth

And everyone thinks its all going to miraculously change once a new administration is in charge of things....

Why are we at war?

To protect the financial interests of the international oil and banking cartels.

To get Delegates

Radio interview of some good points : Look for Monday KNARR March 17th : http://mp3.rprradio.com/1...
KEEP THIS BUMPED EVERY DAY PLEASE!
IMPORTANT : YOU PEOPLE NEED TO IGNORE THE POSTS FROM JHL - SLAPSHOT AND WRELLIM BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE A CLUE WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
You must become a delegate now call your county chairman and if they say your timeline is passed become an alternate delegate they are just as important.
I was an administrator for the Democratic party for over 6 years and i am well educated in the nomination process, I left the party to support Dr. Paul so i know what i am talking about.
Our founding fathers set the system up like this to assure that we would not have false or fruadulent support for a candidate thus forcing THE PEOPLE to become involved in the election process and to show actual support for thier candidate.
They wanted to make sure they would protect us from VOTE FRAUD and to make sure that a candidate did not win a beauty contest but instead win an election.
Any candidate and thier supporters can do exactly what we are doing if they chose to do so and i am sure from the reports we have received that Mccain does not have real support or he would have the delegates he needs registered as delegates to vote for him in the up coming convention.
If you doubt my post go and research it yourself PLEASE here : http://www.gop.com/images...
PLEASE EVERYONE COPY AND SEND THIS TO THIER EMAIL LIST AND MEETUP HEADS AND ANY OTHER RON PAUL FORUM THERE IS.
If you can be a delegate because it is too late to register you can still help us at the convention.
Use these 2 links and help us win.
Link : http://www.gopconvention....
Link # 2 : http://msp2008.com/volunt...
I know many of you are new to the election process but don't worry.
I am going to go into some depth of how this all works so read and then read again if you need to.
Did you know that the delegates can actually vote to unbind thier delegates that are bound by state rules?
Did you know that delegates can actually overturn and previous vote?
Did you know the delegates have control of the entire process?
The MSM is not reporting how to become the nominee in a situation like this so i will tell you to stop getting your info from the MSM.
I know many of you are bummed about Dr. Paul not getting more votes in the states popular vote BUT THAT IS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE ELECTION SYSTEM WORKS : Let me explain to you the reality of how to become the nominee.
First stop looking at who wins each states popular vote for most of these states the vote by the people is really nothing but a straw poll and have no real bearing on who will become the nominee. The only way this matters is if 1 person receives 1191 delegates that are bound by state rules to be commited to that candidate. So if a candiate like Mccain now has 906 delegates now but he doesn't reach 1191 WHICH HE WILL NOT most of the delegates the state awarded him mean nothing and keep in mind in most of the states most of the people that represent the 906 for Mccain are actually Ron Paul supporters. NOW there is no possible way that anyone in the race can achieve this goal now because of the major split in state wins by the candidates.
Normally Convention Delegates do not matter because the convention is not brokered and we have a clear winner because someone has 1191 delegates. BUT THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT. This will be a brokered convention there is no way around it. Do you see how the ronpaul campaign strategy will work.
When a candidate wins delegates by winning a primary that does not mean there are actual people that won acting as delegates- these are virtual delegates.
What do I mean by virtual delegates: A virtual delegate is just a number - there are no actual people YET that will go and vote for the candidate who won the particular state at the national convention. We call these people convention delegates
The actual delegates are voted on (in most states) at a statewide delegate caucus after the Primary (which is just a giant preference poll) Who can be delegates? Anyone. In closed Primary states they must be registered Republicans, in Open Primary states they can be Republicans, Democrats, Independents.
View the hard count of actaul pledged delegates here : http://www.thegreenpapers...
And we have lots of delegates.
Out of the 2,380 delegates sent to Minneapolis St. Paul in September-
-463 delegates are bound all the way through the convention some of those 463 are Ron Pauls people.
- 565 delegates will be bound through one ballot. That is, they have to follow the results of the state election on the first ballot. After that, if no candidate has a majority of delegates, they are free to vote as they please and Mccain will not receive over 50% on the first ballot.
- 383 will be bound through two ballots then they are free to vote for whom they wish.
- 318 will be bound through three ballots then they are free to vote for whom they wish.
I am not going to list every state and what the break downs are, just do the math from these numbers or look for yourself here :
http://www.gop.com/Images...
Bottom line is less than 1/2 of the delegates are bound by state party rules. Now do you see how we can win this thing?
So what happens now you ask? You look at the number of delegates that Dr. Paul has that are uncommited to the other candidates and will support him. these delegates are not decided by the popular vote ie: straw poll of the people. Since no one will have enough delegates to skate them through to the nomination we now must look at how many delegates NOT VOTES but delegates Dr. Paul has that are 100% uncommited to the other candidates and will be 100% for Dr. Paul and are free to vote for whom they wish.
This race will go all the way to the convention for there is no other way for someone to receive the nomintaion untill the convention.
The RNC will convene its annual Winter Meeting - and voters will continue to cast their ballots in the nation's primaries and caucuses. Candidates for delegate and alternate delegate to the convention will be elected - and thousands of convention participants and guests will begin planning their trips to Minneapolis-Saint Paul The first week in September 2008
SO WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?
This means that all of the people that registered to become a deligate for Dr. Paul can go to the convention and cast thier vote for Dr. Paul, now think about what i just said : Do you think for one second that all the people that voted for Dr. Paul and filed to become a deligate will not show up at the convention to vote for the good Doctor? Of course they will just like they battled the rain and the sleet and the 15 below zero winter weather to knock on doors and wave signs spreading our message.
Now i assure you that even though we didn't win the popular vote in many states WE DID PICK UP THE MAJORITY OF DELEGATES THAN ALL THE OTHER CANDIDATES IN MOST EVERY STATE EXCEPT A FEW. So yes they won the straw poll and we won what counts which is delegates.
Doesn't Dr. Paul need to WIN 5 states to be on the ballot at the convention for the nomination?
NO THIS IS NOT TRUE for people were just confused on how it actually works.
We only need the majority of delegates from 5 states to be put on the ballot NOT THE POPULAR VOTE OF 5 STATES and i assure you we have picked up the majority of uncommitted delegates for Dr. Paul in more than 5 states.
Do any of you remember seeing posts by myself and many others that said BECOME A DELEGATE? There is still time in most states to become a delegate for the convention and we are picking up more of them every day.
So please STOP! you worry too much because you do not understand how the election system works and you thought we lost didn't you? I assure you we have not!
The fact is Dr. Paul is a genius in his strategy and we are further ahead in delegates than you think and we can win the nomination.
I hope this gives a better understanding of how we have been winning even though most of you thought we were not.
NOW LET'S KEEP WORKING FILE TODAY AND BECOME A DELEGATE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

Truth about Iraq (from an employed soldier)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...

Lindsey Williams - The Energy Non-Crisis - Part 1 of 8
http://www.youtube.com/wa...

We are there to destroy America and the constitution.

A free, informed, and politically active American middle class stands as the last obstacle to the realization of the dream of the global fascists; to unite humanity under one world government -- THEIR government.

I am defining the middle class as that socioeconomic class that has some time and money left over after taking care of the bare necessities. Only a middle class has the "luxury" of being able to get involved in politics in a meaningful fashion. Revolutions are not started by starving masses who cannot even afford to buy food, let alone a gun. Even in America, where our working poor live like kings compared to many of the inhabitants of 3rd world nations, the trend is to work longer hours at multiple jobs just to maintain (not improve) our standard of living. Interest in politics should increase as our economic situation becomes more desperate. Unfortunately, people seem to devote even less time to politics, and certainly have less money to donate to political causes and candidates, as they become more impoverished. Eventually they become frustrated by their powerlessness, tune out any meaningful political debate, and confine their political activity to voting. Since they are usually voting for one of two candidates handpicked by the establishment, their vote is meaningless.

So what does this have to do with the war in Iraq?
The war is a vehicle to:
1) Deepen the national debt and devalue the currency.
2) Drain the American population of bright, patriotic young men and women. Many have been killed. Many more have been maimed or have been psychologically scarred to the point of being disabled for life. (One of the “advantages” of modern warfare has been the development of body armor and superior medical care so that wounds that would have been fatal in previous wars are now just horribly mutilating.) Almost all have suffered some type of personal loss, economic opportunities, marriages, children, friends, careers, businesses, etc., that will adversely affect the rest of their lives. The drain on the Federal budget to care for the disabled veterans is an entitlement that will dwarf the current economic cost of this war. It will also have created yet another bloc of voters totally dependent on the Federal government for their very lives.
3) Permanently increase the price of oil, enriching the fascists who control the global fuel reserves, and, more importantly, draining wealth from America through the inevitable inflation.
4) Enrich the fascists who control and profit from the Industrial-Military complex.
5) Further destabilize the Middle East by creating another permanent thorn in the side of the Islamic world; the presence of American troops in Iraq. This also has the side benefit (for the Conspiracy) of strengthening the Islamic terrorist organizations, increasing the threat of terrorist activities, and frightening Americans into allowing further erosion of their constitutional liberties in the name of security.
6) Set a precedent of initiating a major war without a formal declaration by congress as mandated by the constitution. This not only opens the way for future conflicts as required by the Conspiracy, it further shifts power to the Executive branch and away from the more egalitarian legislative branch.
7) Set a precedent of starting a war to enforce a U.N. resolution, a body which has absolutely no standing or power under the constitution of the United States. It implies that the commander-in-chief of the American armed forces answers to a higher authority than the people of the United States. This erodes the sovereignty of the United States and risks redirecting the loyalty of the American armed forces.
8) Demoralize and deplete the ranks of the Republican Party. The rank and file Republicans have historically been defenders of constitutional and libertarian values. Even after decades of betrayal and misdirection by their leaders, there was always the threat that they would someday awaken to the threat and demand a return to traditional values. The Iraq war was yet another nail of the cough and of the now near comatose GOP.

You may have noticed that many of these “reasons” are in direct contradiction to the stated goals of our leaders. It is no accident. It is yet another example of the propaganda technique called “The Big Lie”. The daily mock debate between the Republican and Democratic leadership over whether we are “winning” in Iraq maintains the illusion that there is a plan or desire to secure an outcome favorable to the interests of the United States. President Bush consistently supports the bizarre notion that we are somehow gaining ground and that this will all be for the best some day. The Democrats claim that the war was prosecuted ineptly, but refuse to promote the idea that we should never have gone there in the first place or that we should immediately withdraw. Of the three remaining candidates other than Ron Paul, all have stated policies that will continue to support the goals of the global fascists and hasten the end of liberty in America and in the world.

The way the American people

are suppossed to see it is
we went in there for WMD, we made a mistake,
we toppled their govt., now we have to help them rebuild
a govt(a puppet govt). Its suppossed to be a
humanitarian mission to stop the Iraqis
from killing each other in a civil war.

But the truth is the puppet govt Bush
is trying to install doesnt stand a chance
unless the us military are there blowing
up anyone who resists.

I was watching one of the debates,
and some guy asked a question about
us staying in Iraq however long it takes
to teach the people how to govern themselves
democratically. He likened the Iraqi people
to children who have to be taught how to take
care of themselves.
I dare him to tell a room full of Iraqi men
that.

No one knows and no one cares

This is the American way....

i was about to say the same

i was about to say the same thing about not being at war. that we haven't been at "war" since WWII. but you did a good job of explaining that so carry on

Technically,

we are not at war. Congress never declared war. We are instead involved in undeclared war via perpetual police actions. If congress was to declare war, then charges of treason could be brought up against a majority of our elected and appointed officials. Hence, no war.

And to think people like

And to think people like Rush Limbaugh and Neal Boortz, who seem so vigilantly to champion smaller government and fiscal responsibility, to so strongly advocate for these never-ending, goal-less wars. Don't they know war is the ultimate in big government!!??

They are all in the government's pocket. Why else would they side with tyranny? Greed rules the day, my friend. There be traitors in our midst. Your problem is that you think man is inherently good, yet history informs us of just the opposite time and again. American's truly are the most gullible people on earth. Time to wake up!

One word

Oil.

Try to stay with me:

Way back when, cessna-trained Islamo-spores flew jumbo-jets into our World Trade Center, knocking down the towers. A third building fell down, but since it wasn't hit by anything one can only assume it took its own life as a show of support for its fallen, taller brothers. What's odd is that these spores were of the Saudi strain. Saudis are our friends, because they sell us the life-giving oil which they lovingly put into barrels. Just for us! Our fearless leader (OFL from now on, sounds like "awful"), knew, because he is the decider, we had to reply. So we attacked the Afgani spores! See, the King Spore was holed-up in a cave there, attached to a dialysis machine. Try as we might, we could not find the right cave, over all that oil. So OFL, he of great vision, "saw" the evil spores migrating to Iraq, where there were wmd's over all that oil. Now, he "sees" them slipping into Iran where- you guessed it! Hope that clears things up.

This is a must read---

They Died in Vain by Laurance Vance--excerpts from the article: When the number of Americans killed in Iraq surpassed the 1,000 mark in September of 2004, President Bush said of the families of the dead during a campaign rally: "My promise to them is that we will complete the mission so that their child or their husband or wife has not died in vain." Well, the death count of U.S. soldiers has now reached 4,000, and the completion of the mission is nowhere in sight.

This should come as no surprise since Bush’s promise to complete the mission was a lie before he even uttered the words. Back in 2003, in front of a "Mission Accomplished" banner, the president announced: "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the Battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed. And now our coalition is engaged in securing and reconstructing that country."

One soldiers's opinion.

War is the health of the state.

And with the Mahdi army stirring up trouble in Baghdad and Basra and Hizballah threatening all out war against Israel again, I predict our state will get a lot healthier.

uh

Read 1984, then you'll know why.

We're at war to profit the oil companies and ...

military-industrial complex, as well as to kiss the backsides of Likudnik Zionists. Those who profit from economic downturns (dollar collapse, housing and commodaties bubbles) will also benefit. The rest of us; well, we get the shaft.

Is all reality

Is there really a rational answer? No.

Our military is just killing people at this point.

And we sure aren't reaping the benefit's of controlling their oil.

The designs of the Bush Laden Cabal...

...and their globalist money-masters for the intentionally-engineered chaos now being exploited in the U.S. Military Prefecture of Iraq in the name of a perpetual American war-state have trumped the will of the American people and the separation of powers outlined in the Constitution. The unconstitutional military intervention and undeclared "war" in Iraq perpetuates and proliferates the demented foreign policy of American hegemony through global military/imperial domination.

A global military empire does not fit with the framework of the Constitution nor does what is only not in name a surrogate military dictatorship.

It is clear that the engineered chaos in Iraq, and the larger "Global War On Terror (a psychological state) or Terrorism (a nefarious tactic)", is a premeditated and calculated component of the proposed New World Order to not only expand the American Empire, but to perpetuate military Keynesianism and further degrade the solvency and permanence of our Constitutional Republic. A regional authority of World Government (the North American Union) will be substituted for our rightful Constitutional Republic under the auspices of financial and economic crises brought about in large part by the practice and profligacy of military Keynesianism that has rendered the American economy to its knees and robbed the American people of their prosperity.

It is our job, the job of Patriots, to oppose this.

Official Mission Creep Reasons for being at War

Bush: “Our mission is clear in Iraq. Should we have to go in, our mission is very clear: disarmament.” [3/6/03]

then

Bush: "I delivered good news to the men and women who fought in the cause of freedom: Their mission is complete" (5/3/03)

and more recently

Bush: “It’s a new mission. And David Petraeus is in Iraq carrying it out. Its goal is to help the Iraqis make progress toward reconciliation — to build a free nation that respects the rights of its people, upholds the rule of law, and is an ally against the extremists in this war.” [6/28/07]

and other reasons, in order, at http://thinkprogress.org/...

huh

Bush: “It’s a new mission. And David Petraeus is in Iraq carrying it out. Its goal is to help the Iraqis make progress toward reconciliation — to build a free nation that respects the rights of its people, upholds the rule of law, and is an ally against the extremists in this war.”

When did he plan on seeking a free nation that respects the rights of it's people in our country? Did they have a date for that? Upholding the rule of law stuff? ETA?

Soon we will have one stop shopping for all needs Walmart health care, Walmart shopping, Walmart banking, etc and the quality will all be the same......shitty. It's no different than being government run. There will be no other choices for Americans.

Well, it depends ...

Do you want the 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 or 2007 answer to this question? :-)

Money..it always comes down to $$$

Yes, it is costing trillions...to US the taxpayers and our childrens debt..but the military industrial complex is surely making trillions off of the blood of our soldiers and the countless civilians, the private contractors are making billions and the American people are kept in a constant state of fear of "the terrorists" so that we easily give up our liberties for supposed "security"!

Dollar Hegemony: Understanding the Why of War

www.energybulletin.net/12...
......During the 1970s the dollar nearly collapsed, as oil prices surged and gold skyrocketed to $800 an ounce. By 1979 interest rates of 21% were required to rescue the system. The pressure on the dollar in the 1970s, in spite of the benefits accrued to it, reflected reckless budget deficits and monetary inflation during the 1960s. The markets were not fooled by LBJ’s claim that we could afford both “guns and butter.”

Once again the dollar was rescued, and this ushered in the age of true dollar hegemony lasting from the early 1980s to the present. With tremendous cooperation coming from the central banks and international commercial banks, the dollar was accepted as if it were gold.

*Read the article.....it explains why we are there

Because the best thing is

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women!

Actually, Last night frontline had the first of a two part series about going to war. They claim that the Idea was essentially Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld's idea. They wanted to pacify the middle east for some time, and their thought was that they could use 911 to push this agenda. Iraq was supposed to be the first of a number of dominoes that would bring the middle east into the global community (on their terms of course)

It is strange that the CIA is really made out to look good in this documentary. The had an interview with Michael Scheuer explaining the inteligence they had on Bin Ladens group in relation to iraq, how Cheney pushed the whole thing, etc. .

The latest official story is

The latest official story is that, well, Saddam was a hmm bad guy....

The unofficial story is that he was selling to much oil and not in dollars.

Good morning.

It's about the Babylonian empire.

It is too sad.

We have heard no credible reason, and whatever we're "winning," according to George Bush, Cheney, McCain, is never defined. If I don't watch myself, I can become too, too depressed for great lengths of time, because I believe what's done in our country's name is also done in my name, which repulses me. How can we ever make up for the havoc we've allowed, the rivers of blood we've let, the orphans we've created?

We can't, and that's what bothers me the most.

Sometimes I wonder if there are any Iraqis left to slaughter or maim or starve.

I feel such compassion for our soldiers. What a hard place they are in. Even they can't count on us to support them by doing what's right.

We are winning!

When they state we are winning, the we pertains to them. Oil in Iraq is again being traded in US Dollars, and Halliburton is awarded countless no-bid contracts. I remember a few years back during an interview that Cheney stated that the war was going just fine. Of course it is. They are making tons of money while generations of un-born American will foot the bill. What could be better then that. Looks like a win-win for them.

It's all a matter of perspective, and after all it's just business!

War is great...

...if you need an excuse to remove the rights of your own people to 'keep them safe'. Or if you want to bleed a populace dry of it's wealth.

DICKtator gwb didn't like that Saddam stood up to his daddy and told him to bugger off in response to his 'you better keep selling oil in US dollars' threat. I'm sure there's plenty more we don't yet know about too...

It's about GOD
