Dr. PAUL Satisfies Ballot Requirements Nationwide, this is why it is expensive to go third party.

Ron Paul Satisfies Ballot Requirements Nationwide
March 21, 2008
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has satisfied the ballot requirements for all U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico as of yesterday, March 20, 2008.
“Dr. Paul’s message of peace, freedom and prosperity has broad appeal” said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “Well-organized and determined volunteers throughout America made this possible.”

If he went third party he would end up spending all of our money and time getting on the ballot.

Now volunteers please do the following:
1) Go to http://www.gop.com/images... to see a State by State summary for delegate selection for the National Convention.

2) See list of ACTUAL pledged delegates here http://www.thegreenpapers...

3) BECOME A DELEGATE please go to http://www3.webng.com/ron....

4) Volunteer in St. Paul, MN to help Ron Paul win here: www.gopconvention.com/

5)Get your hands on Robert’s Rules of Order, before the convention, (they have a nice four page laminate you can order at your local bookstore), or watch the training videos at www.ronpaul2008.com.

6) donate whatever you can to his campaign.

Do your research you will find that some states are not bound to vote for anyone. Go to your local GOP office ask for a list of rules, a list of delegates and plant those seeds. The Main stream media uses words to conveniently avoid the citizens in knowing these delegates that McCain supposedly has are “predicted” or ‘forecasted”. You must remember those delegates are not all pledged to the candidate. We have our conventions to attend.

The person who gave us most of the above information was an administrator for the Democratic party for more than 6 years. This person quit to support Ron Paul. Please email them at newspaper4paul@hotmail.com if you wish to help keep this info posted and shared to other supporters.

He is republican with a small r.

Get him the Republican nomination, this is in our grip.

What exactly do you mean?

What exactly do you mean?

Quesion: does this mean that he will be on the ballot...

in November even if Johnny wins the GOP candidacy?

No. These are primary ballots

IMissLiberty

K, why is this important if he is on all the State ballots

if most of them have already had their primary?

RP Finished Qualifying for the Remaining Primary Ballots

The GOP and the D's will be on all the state general election ballots no matter who they nominate, unless they forget to file the paperwork, and even then, I'll bet the powers-that-be would bend the rules (varies by state).

The LP is working on getting a spot on these general election ballots for whomever they nominate. Getting on a primary ballot is less important because (surprise!) the primaries are just a straw poll. The nominee is really chosen by the delegates to the LP national convention next month.

IMissLiberty

NOTE RE: "Straw Poll Primaries"

Some states have tried to force the parties to have a primary and make the party nominate the highest vote-total getter. Voters don't like it when they think their candidate won, and then the party doesn't nominate them.
The states thought it would be popular to make the votes of voters count by forcing the party to accept their selection.

The LP of California won a court case (Federal court, I think) in which the court agreed that this would violate the right of freedom of association. In other words, the parties, being private groups of individuals, can't be forced to nominate a candidate chosen for them by voters who are not members of their party. Even though our state law says the voters get to choose, the law is not enforcible due to the court decision.

As members of the party organization, the members make their own rules and bylaws. Some state parties do count what the voters say and bind their delegates, some just collect the information as if the government-run election were their private polling firm at taxpayer expense, some let party officials decide, and some do a combination.

Each party organization has a right (that is to say, the members have a right) to do what they want. If you don't like their rules, you can try to change them or you can leave the party.

Which gives me an idea: It's possible the members of a state or local GOP organization could vote to disenfranchise themselves from the GOP and apply to join the LP instead. That might get a few headlines, but I'm not recommending it.

IMissLiberty

Thanks. So what is the significance of being on the...

state general election ballots?
What are those used for?

To elect the candidate

Parties qualify for the ballots. Not the candidates. The party gets a spot on the ballot, then nominates someone to fill it.

In the case of Ross Perot or Ralph Nader, they start their own party and go through the process of getting it on the ballot.

In the case of Ron Paul in 1988, he had to help raise money for the party so they could get the signatures to be on ballots.

IMissLiberty

"If he went third party he

"If he went third party he would end up spending all of our money and time getting on the ballot."

Please explain Why. Because I've voted Libertarian in the last two consecutive presidential elections, and Harry Browne and Michael Badnarik had no problems getting on my ballot.

No Problem? Are you sure?

The rules for getting on the ballot in each state vary. If it was no trouble in your state, you're lucky.

Some states are notoriously difficult. The LP is working on ballot access right now and does not expect to make all 50 states this year. It is a struggle every time to get on all 50 states (plus territories) each time.

In some cases, automatic ballot access is granted if the LP won a high enough percentage of the vote the last time 'round. Other times, they have to collect thousands of signatures.

You can donate to gain ballot access here: LP.org Paid petitioners are working now.

Of all the third parties, only the LP has regularly been able to pull this off. Dr. Paul has explained, before, that his campaign spent all its money getting on the ballot in 1988.

IMissLiberty

It does cost quite a bit to do that, plus

how many people know the common name Michael Badnarik and Harry Browne? I voted for good ole Harry Browne, most say Harry who. at least Ron Paul has had his name in the MSM, a lot more than that of Harry Browne, sad, but true. They need a new party, or a complete revamp of the Republican party, an excorcism.

You didn't answer my

You didn't answer my question, though. If Badnarik and Browne--especially considering the puny coffers of the Libertarian Party--got ballot access in the past, why do you think it would be a problem for Ron Paul?

There might be some difficulty getting access if he runs Independent, but what hurdles beset him if he runs Libertarian Party?

We Can't Nominate a Candidate Who Won't Run

Ron Paul has refused an invitation to be considered a candidate. His reasons have been published all over the place. All of them valid.

The LP has it easier than a new party; in some states the LP does not have to petition based on their vote totals in the previous election. A new party would have to start from scratch and pay to get signatures (even a volunteer effort is very costly).

By the end of next month, the LP will have a nominee. A couple of them have said they'd step aside for Ron Paul, but it doesn't sound like that will happen. Certainly not before September.

IMissLiberty

That's what I'm referring

That's what I'm referring to--if they step aside for Paul in September. I don't think Dr. Paul can be persuaded now, and in any case he has some educating and other plans in mind for the convention.

Unhappiness

He'd have to give up his Congressional race (which he has not won, yet), because the GOP won't let him run in two parties at once.

His followers, many of them now elected local GOP chairs, etc., might feel betrayed.

He'd probably lose more than he gained. I suspect he is much more likely to defend his congressional seat and endorse a good LP candidate if he does not get the GOP nomination.

IMissLiberty

Even if it's fairly easy for LPers to get on the ballots...

what about the lack of access to TV debates?
Yikes, that'd be a show-stopper!

I thought about that too...

but remember when he was allowed to participate in the YouTube debate after everyone screamed that he had enough public interest? Was that because he was a Republican? Im wondering if he would be allowed into a general election debate based on his popularity %. Theyd likely decide that number as "3 % more than whatever he has"...but the arguments could certainly be made. Ross Perot topped out at what? 20% was it? If Ron Paul was suddenly ressurrected in time for the general election- having weathered the primary season unscathed scandal-wise- hed do a lot better than Perot ever did Id bet ya.

The LP is working now (and has been for months)

And we don't even know who our candidate is until next month.

Getting on the ballot isn't easy at all. The LP is working on it continuously. It's too late to start the process in September if the GOP delegates don't nominate Ron Paul.

Go read all the "third-party" threads. All this has been explained--over and over and over.

The LP invited Ron Paul to run on the LP ticket, but he's doing so much better where he is, now, that it wouldn't make sense. He's way ahead of where he would be if we nominated him next month as a Libertarian.

Hardly anyone's heard of the LP candidates. At least as a Republican he gets some coverage.

IMissLiberty

hardly easy!

In many states Libertarians pound the pavement for thousands of hours for weeks on end to get enough signatures. It is not easy.

keep up your support of

RON PAUL!!

Remember do not listen to anything I have to say

because I am a McCainite.

Important info

to follow up on. We need to go to all county conventions, state conventions and the National.

It will cost to go to the National, aproximately $1500-$2400 total, to debunk the other people spreading around the high cost, per person if you do not have anyone in the location to stay with. It does not cost to get in to the convention, but it will cost to fly, train, bus, meals, and hotel. The hotels they have reserveded are $250-$300 per night, this is the main expense, We could get motorhomes and see about really cutting down the cost that way.

yeah

Go Ron Paul

good news always needs a bump!

God Bless Dr. Paul

Good news

isnt it? We just need the delegates to attend.

become a delegate in 08'

I hope this helps all of those who are intersted in how to get Ron Paul on the ballot in november...write your media and tell them you want RP and McCain to debate.

dollar/country goes down...

and the belief that only RP can solve the problem goes up with everyone...its the perfect storm! be proud to tell your children you were a part of this...whenever someone at work asks me, how is ron paul doing today...i say, we are right where we want to be...look at the dollar, look at the state of our nation i tell them, are you happy? who has ANY answers? who addresses any problems? RP will be our next President by virtue of the fact that no one else will do ANYTHING to help our woes and only HE is brave enough to stand up to the policies that would destroy us...they do not understand the delgate process...wait until the convention, I say, you'll see!

Do your part! Keep spreading the word. Keep those signs flying in your yards all the way to St. Paul!

kick it up...

it ain't over by a long shot!

Remember to be prepared

if you are a delegate then we need you to go to all the conventions, if you are not one, become one, go to your county convention as a guest, they pay less usually anyway.

St. Paul will be costly so save your duckets.
