Daily Paul is Under Attack

Dear Friends,
Someone is attempting to hack the site. Yesterday and the day prior, as many of you are aware, someone got in and deleted a large number of posts. They are now attempting to gain access to the site through different members' accounts. If you receive an email from the Daily Paul asking you to reset your password that you did not request - IGNORE IT It means that someone is attempting to hijack your account. It is a good idea to beef up your passwords, not only on this site, but all sites that require passwords. This means using a long string - 8 characters or more, with numbers, upper and lower case characters, and special characters as well (like $, &, *, ^), etc.
I have taken several measures to beef up security, but please be on the lookout and notify me of anything suspicious or unusual via the contact form above. Thank you for your continued support and help.

they are using inmho our online user names and just randomly trying to get in.

very scary.... what are they trying to accomplish???

The emails are harmless..
Just make sure you have a "strong" password.
What they are trying to do is scare you. If you have a "weak" password like "password", or your name, or "abc123" they might be able to hijack your account but if you have a decent password it is extremely unlikely they could guess it...
I had over 30 of those
I had over 30 of those messages myself regarding my password on Tuesday, but only three or four yesterday --- and oddly, one today. Seems like our "friend" has found others to torment or another hobby to pursue (perhaps pulling the wings off butterflies, or burning ants with a magnifying lens, or something equally as productive as all his efforts here).
I've only had..
.. 6 so far. I thought onevoiceoftreason hated me more than that.

Easyist Fix
I have found that the easiest way to deal with these things is to get an ip address. You can set up a fake account and try to get the hacker to steal it's password (honneypot). Once you know his ip, it's simply a matter of contacting his ISP and getting his internet shut off. No internet, no problem.
Of course, that assumes it's not DHS or the CIA or something.

April 15th Rally
Sorry, not sure where to post this question. Is the March still on in June. Is there a group to organize this ?? Meanwhile the April 15th rally by the Granny Warriors that have the permits in hand is not really being promoted. There needs to be a real strong showing at the April event. If the event in June does not have a permit by now is it going to happen ??
My two cents is that the April 15th event should be a real big focus right now ???

and we were really concerned as to what was going on. I am not knowledgable at all about computers, but would it help to know who we thing is doing it? Also, what do the newly added icons next to our names mean, and can someone hack in here and obtain our e-mail address?

If you can track the hacker
If you can track the hacker down, please let me know where I can find him. After I pay him a little visit he won't be able to use a keyboard to harrass anyone any longer, and in fact, when I get finished with him he'll very likely be eating his meals through a straw the rest of his miserable life! :-)

Got any IP addies?
You probably don't have time to look but if you have their IP it would be worth getting your hosting company or using PHP to block them from the site if you have not already done so.
It is probably easy to do
Just go to login and put in the users name you want to mess with and enter anything and put forget password, it will automatically generate an email. Easy peasy. So, find out who the culprit is, that is probably exactly what they are doing. Just hit delete and don't waste anymore time on them. They already have dubbed us "nuts" and "kooks" ~ just like Einstein, Jesus, and the Wright Brothers were. I am glad to be a 'kook" but they are seriously attempting to make the whole daily paul site look like 'whackos". (sp)

... nothing you can do to stop the password hacking attempts especially if they are anonymizing their ip address.
Unless they find someone with a weak password it's really more annoying than serious.
The post deletions on the other hand could be fixed....

Mike, if you need a lil help on resolving your probably massive bandwidth spike, just E-Mail me. Not phishing or anything here, but I'm pretty good with fixing flood/hack issues with php scripts.
Oh, by the way
When I am logged into the site my hourglass keeps running. It acts like it is still loading even though I can travel around and post with no problem. When I go to another site and keep this open, it just continues to run. None of my other links do this. Is that a sign of something weird?
