I am willing to donate small plots of land to individuals interested in starting a simple liberty community in Brazil. Update!!
Thanks for all your replies, I have been contacted by many people interested in my idea. So far I have recieved resumes from paramedics, an opthamologist, educators, RN, architect/developer, carpenters, electricians, naturalists and many others. I think there about 25 families and well as a few individuals, perhaps 60 people in all. I am serious about this, I am willing to give a small lote of 3600 sq. feet each for people to build on, I just hope others take me serious. With 50 or so lotes (one lote to represent each of the 50 States) that could be as many as 200 people or more to form a community. There would still be plenty of land to work and live off of and we could barter between ourselves.
If interested in seeing the area on Google Earth the coordinates are; 12''07'53.47 S 43'' 46'58.33 W
The property has 669 hectares, which is around 1800 acres. My intention is to conserve most of the area, since it is covered with old growth trees. I have also been planting many fruit trees, cashew, guava, pequei and many others that are not well known or marketed in the States. The climate is much like Texas with cool night and sun beaten days, a good rainy season from December to April/May which is the summer. The winter is dry but doesn't get much colder than 55-60 degrees. Since the property is located on a plateau at 900 meters it is always cool with a nice breaze. The important thing is to maintain the trees which provide shade and retain water. There is a city called Wanderley about 12 kilometers from my property. In the city there are all kinds services available such as schools, hospitals, small shops and for those interested even the broad spectrum of churches... As this idea is still in development there is no outline as to how the community would function, but with enough interest, effort and vision it could evolve. Just need enough people interested and willing to move to Brazil. Also have to come up with some kind of small government for the community, perhaps we could draw up Declaration of Independence and a Constitution. Something perhaps along the lines of a minarchistic community. I like the Amish community idea except I don't think it would be necessary to be as extreme.
There isn't much up there yet, a few small neighboring homes and a small house on my property, there is a small association of farmers and we share a well and are currently cutting a road for access up to the area. For many years we have gone up on horse or walk. It is a difficult climb, but well worth it!
Contact me at bellvedere@uol.com.br if you are interested.

Also here is an old article from 2002 about Amish moving to the area, the prices of property have gone up now since the dollar has lost 50% of it's value since then.

Well, only if the plots include this...
I was an administrator for the Democratic party for over 6 years and i am well educated in the nomination process, I left the party to support Dr. Paul so i know what i am talking about.
Our founding fathers set the system up like this to assure that there would not have false or fruadulent support for a candidate thus forcing THE PEOPLE to become involved in the election process and to show actual support for thier candidate.
They wanted to make sure they would protect us from VOTE FRAUD and to make sure that a candidate did not win a beauty contest but instead win an election.
Any candidate and thier supporters can do exactly what we are doing if they chose to do so and i am sure from the reports we have received that Mccain does not have real support or he would have the delegates he needs registered as delegates to vote for him in the up coming convention.
Every state is different and you should be educated on exactly how your delegate process works and you can do this by obtaining a copy of you bylaws in your county and your state if you are told you do not have bylaws obtain a copy of the party rules for your county and state for this is the first step to victory AFTER YOU BECOME A DELEGATE.
If you doubt my post go and research it yourself PLEASE here : http://www.gop.com/images...
PLEASE EVERYONE COPY AND SEND THIS TO THIER EMAIL LIST AND MEETUP HEADS AND ANY OTHER RON PAUL FORUM THERE IS.
If you can be a delegate because it is too late to register you can still help us at the convention.
Use these 2 links and help us win.
http://www.gopconvention....

I know many of you are new to the election process but don't worry.
I am going to go into some depth of how this all works so read and then read again if you need to.
Did you know that the delegates can actually vote to unbind thier delegates that are bound by state rules? Did you know that delegates can actually overturn and previous vote? Did you know the delegates have control of the entire process?
The MSM is not reporting how to become the nominee in a situation like this so i will tell you to stop getting your info from the MSM.
I know many of you are bummed about Dr. Paul not getting more votes in the states popular vote BUT THAT IS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE ELECTION SYSTEM WORKS : Let me explain to you the reality of how to become the nominee.
First stop looking at who wins each states popular vote for most of these states the vote by the people is really nothing but a straw poll and have no real bearing on who will become the nominee. The only way this matters is if 1 person receives 1191 delegates that are bound by state rules to be commited to that candidate. So if a candiate like Mccain now has 906 delegates now but he doesn't reach 1191 WHICH HE WILL NOT most of the delegates the state awarded him mean nothing and keep in mind in most of the states most of the people that represent the 906 for Mccain are actually Ron Paul supporters. NOW there is no possible way that anyone in the race can achieve this goal now because of the major split in state wins by the candidates.
Normally Convention Delegates do not matter because the convention is not brokered and we have a clear winner because someone has 1191 delegates. BUT THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT. This will be a brokered convention there is no way around it. Do you see how the ronpaul campaign strategy will work.
When a candidate wins delegates by winning a primary that does not mean there are actual people that won acting as delegates- these are virtual delegates.
What do I mean by virtual delegates: A virtual delegate is just a number - there are no actual people YET that will go and vote for the candidate who won the particular state at the national convention. We call these people convention delegates
The actual delegates are voted on (in most states) at a statewide delegate caucus after the Primary (which is just a giant preference poll) Who can be delegates? Anyone. In closed Primary states they must be registered Republicans, in Open Primary states they can be Republicans, Democrats, Independents.
View the hard count of actaul pledged delegates here : http://www.thegreenpapers...
And we have lots of delegates.
Out of the 2,380 delegates sent to Minneapolis St. Paul in September-
-463 delegates are bound all the way through the convention some of those 463 are Ron Pauls people.
- 565 delegates will be bound through one ballot. That is, they have to follow the results of the state election on the first ballot. After that, if no candidate has a majority of delegates, they are free to vote as they please and Mccain will not receive over 50% on the first ballot.
- 383 will be bound through two ballots then they are free to vote for whom they wish.
- 318 will be bound through three ballots then they are free to vote for whom they wish.
I am not going to list every state and what the break downs are, just do the math from these numbers or look for yourself here :
http://www.gop.com/Images...
Bottom line is less than 1/2 of the delegates are bound by state party rules. Now do you see how we can win this thing?
So what happens now you ask? You look at the number of delegates that Dr. Paul has that are uncommited to the other candidates and will support him. these delegates are not decided by the popular vote ie: straw poll of the people. Since no one will have enough delegates to skate them through to the nomination we now must look at how many delegates NOT VOTES but delegates Dr. Paul has that are 100% uncommited to the other candidates and will be 100% for Dr. Paul and are free to vote for whom they wish.
This race will go all the way to the convention for there is no other way for someone to receive the nomintaion untill the convention.
The RNC will convene its annual Winter Meeting - and voters will continue to cast their ballots in the nation's primaries and caucuses. Candidates for delegate and alternate delegate to the convention will be elected - and thousands of convention participants and guests will begin planning their trips to Minneapolis-Saint Paul The first week in September 2008
SO WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?
This means that all of the people that registered to become a deligate for Dr. Paul can go to the convention and cast thier vote for Dr. Paul, now think about what i just said : Do you think for one second that all the people that voted for Dr. Paul and filed to become a deligate will not show up at the convention to vote for the good Doctor? Of course they will just like they battled the rain and the sleet and the 15 below zero winter weather to knock on doors and wave signs spreading our message.
Now i assure you that even though we didn't win the popular vote in many states WE DID PICK UP THE MAJORITY OF DELEGATES THAN ALL THE OTHER CANDIDATES IN MOST EVERY STATE EXCEPT A FEW. So yes they won the straw poll and we won what counts which is delegates.
Doesn't Dr. Paul need to WIN 5 states to be on the ballot at the convention for the nomination?
NO THIS IS NOT TRUE for people were just confused on how it actually works.
We only need the majority of delegates from 5 states to be put on the ballot NOT THE POPULAR VOTE OF 5 STATES and i assure you we have picked up the majority of uncommitted delegates for Dr. Paul in more than 5 states.
Do any of you remember seeing posts by myself and many others that said BECOME A DELEGATE? There is still time in most states to become a delegate for the convention and we are picking up more of them every day.
So please STOP! you worry too much because you do not understand how the election system works and you thought we lost didn't you? I assure you we have not!
The fact is Dr. Paul is a genius in his strategy and we are further ahead in delegates than you think and we can win the nomination.
I hope this gives a better understanding of how we have been winning even though most of you thought we were not.
NOW LET'S KEEP WORKING FILE TODAY AND BECOME A DELEGATE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

Were the Quakers cowards for leaving England because of religious persecution. This after the 70 year religious wars in England.

By what definition do you declare patriotism?
You must watch too many action films made in Hollywood. Call the federales? As far as giving the deed to the property, I have already made this clear that those who take me up on my offer, will first go and get the deed transfered into their names. They will of course pay the transfer fees and registration fees since that is the responsibility of any land owner. Think for yourself and look around, there are probably more Ex-patriots living in the States, since they don't believe or follow the Constitution. Location certainly doesn't have anything to do with patriotism, otherwise all those soldiers stationed abroad by your definition would be ex-patriots. Also remember there are 12 million illegal aliens which if any of the three candidates being promoted by the media win, will be given amnesty and be voting in future elections as patriots. By your definition you will consider all of them patriots as you deny my patriotism just because I choose to own property in another country. Do you also believe that to be a true Christian we have to live in Jeruselem or Bethlehem? Oh by the way I also live in Michigan, own a home in Michigan as well as a farm, pay taxes and I will be voting for Ron Paul.
thanks friend.

I'm sorry but this sounds like a scam. Your not going to deed any ownership. You get 50 people to come to a foreign country and build 50 houses on your land, then call the federales and kick the illegal immigrant squatters off your land, and presto, instant slum lord.....No gracias.

"Resistance need not be violent, but the civil disobedience that might be required involves confrontation with the state and invites possible imprisonment." - Ron Paul
The key word is "simple" community!
Just to make one thing clear. What I am suggesting is a simple community. I am not inviting developers to come in and build 15 story apartment complexes. If I were to allow that then of course we would have the Brazilian government wanting to get a piece of the action. But if people were to come and build a small 2-3 bedroom house let's say for $5000-$10000 dollars, or build a house out of dirt even cheaper, as some have suggested, then we stay under the radar and no one is going to take interest. The important thing is to try and blend in with the environment as much as possible. If possible build underground and nobody would know you were even there. I am being sarcastic since I know building underground is not an easy task. But what I am trying to point out is, it's like driving around in an expensive car, you get a lot of looks from envious people and crooks, but if you aren't flashy noone will give a second look or even care. And as many people know this is especially true for not calling the attention of those crooks at the IRS, and equally true here in Brazil.

Live a free life anywhere you wish.
I agree with you about the government in Brazil, and I don't want to give the illusion that anyone taking me up on my offer would be excaping to a better system. But life is also short, so for those willing to take a chance to come down and build a small house to live in a community or build a place to go for retirement, why not? If you have a better chance to do the same thing in Costa Rica do it! If you have a chance to do the same thing in the States then do it! I am just offering another option. Sure the land will be donated, but it certainly won't be free, there will be a lot of work involved to build a small community, many people have suggested coming down to build themselves, others want to know if they can have something buildt for them. I haven't figured out these answers since my offer is not to build a community for anyone, I am just offering a small lote to build on, a common area to grow food on, and my profit will be having a place to go and be part of a community of people that hold similar values. Sure it could all collapse and the government could come in and take over the place. But there is no guarentee that this wouldn't happen in the States or isn't happening already, since both countries are controlled by the same people, or haven't you woke up to this fact yet! They are both run by archists with military control from the top.

My Creator knows the truth, I just want to work and enjoy life.
In a community based on my understanding of the Constitution, will provide freedom to those to worship God any way they like on thier property. Personally I believe in a Creator, and am thankful to my Creator, although I have no ties to any Christian denomination. I don't worship the sun, nor anything of the creature ie creation. My preference for learning about my Creator is from the bible, which I believe was written by men, and I also learn from nature, which I believe was created by our Father. I would prefer to be surrounded by people who have the exact same beliefs as I do, but this is imposible as Paul from the book of 1 Corinthians 5 explains. So when I talk about building a community I am not talking about building a religious community. This is a personal choice and there are plenty of churches in the city of Wanderley 12 kilometers from the property for those wishing to be a part of those communities as well. I am talking about having a community of people to work together to take care of our physical needs. I hope the people of the community will have a set of ethics, but it doesn't matter to me where they get their ethics from, whether it be religious teachings or just come naturally.
What a great idea
Can you explain how more affluent members can also securely buy large areas of land in foreign countries? Maybe we can get a few people like Lepard (the guy who put $100,000 ads in the NYT) to start buying into foreign countries. Ron Paulites really appreciate the need to make this not only a national effort, but an international effort. We can give self sufficiency to the world.
Care when buying property in foreign countries.
For anyone wanting to purchase larger areas of land there are many agencies out there. But be sure to have a lawyer check out the status of the property. Some properties are sold having only simple rights of usage (posse) and are not actual ownership. Something like squatters rights. These squatters rights many times are sold as actual deeds of ownership and are not valid. I was fortunate and purchased my property from the Bank of Brazil. So the property came with a checked and valid deed where the bank would be held liable if it was not. Where you have to be careful is buying from individuals. There are a lot of sharks out there.
Costa Rica has NO MILITARY & political refuge status is possible
Brazil is beautiful...but the crime rate is VERY high in most areas...plus the red tape ( registering with governmental tax system etc. ) is more then I want to do. After all were trying to eliminate the IRS and why would we want to live were it's mandatory to register in the Brazilian IRS ???
Truly folks...if your going to move offshore,,,check out Costa Rica and it's government / immigration policies / land ownership rights etc. etc.
DISCOVER COSTA RICA
Can you explain what is the point?
This thread gives an impression that you can get rid of the government by going to middle of nowhere in Brasil.
Sure, being there you would be far away from US government and IRS, but there are a government and a big one with a big stick in Brasil. Take it back, not a government, but many governments, federal, state, city, labor unions, all charging different taxes and regulating you.
Please, do your home work checking most relevant taxes and regulations in Brasil, besides immigration laws.
There is Policia Federal, there is Receita Federal, Receita Estadual, INCRA, IBAMA, policia militar, policia civil, sindicatos, you name it. An alphabet of government agencies "taking care of you" and making sure that you "don't do bad things to yourself".
You will end up in jail very fast if you do not do your income tax every March in Brasil. Or if you cut trees in your property beyond what is allowed by the regulations. You will be fined if you don't collect every wage taxes, imposto de renda, INPS, FGTS, etc. You have to present Carteira de Trabalho, a small government issued notebook like passport, where all your employement record is logged, every time you start a new job.
You do not need to oppose the implementation of national ID. It is already there for a long time and is called Carteira de Identidade with picture. If you challenge it, you will be the only one in Brasil agaist it and will be labeled insane. You will have also another ID, only for tax purpose, called CIC. Obviously there is also driving license, Carteira Nacional de Habilitacao, besides them. If you are pissed with DMV and traffic regulations here, you will not be happy there.
National mandated health care is there and it is a case study of how government health care does not work.
When you sell/buy things, you have to pay IPI, federal sales tax around 10-15%, ICMS state sales tax around 12-18%, PIS/COFINS couple of percent. If you charge for any service, you need to pay ISS, service tax to city around 5%. Labor Union fee is mandated and is substracted from your wage before you see it.
Property right is not strong. If someone invades your land and lives there for 5 years or more, it will be very difficult to recover your land there. Don't count for police help for that unless you are a friend of some politician or delegado de policia.
Government corruption is every where.
Brasil is a very socialist country in culture and in government. If you enjoy living in middle of forest with nothing around, because you enjoy nature this is a great opportunity.
Or if you are type of person, who supports Ralph Nader or Al Gore, you might be very happy with strong socialist and pro-government intervention/regulation culture there.
If you are follower of the US Constitution and Thomas Jefferson, you will be very deceived and greatly frustrated once you get there. Brasil is the future of the US if the US keeps its current trend of increasing government for everything.
I have lived there for 24 years and had a business with 300 plus employees in Sao Paulo before moving to the US.
It is a great country with nice, honest and great people, disohonest government and bureaucrats, excellent weather, land and beautiful nature, but definitely is not one for a libertarian or constitutionalist.
PS: By the way, this is not the first attempt to move US citizens to Brasil. There is a city called Americana in state of Sao Paulo and I have heard that it was founded by families from Confederate States, who freed from the US after loosing US Civil War.
freedom of religion
Would there be freedom of religion?

Ron Paul moved from
Ron Paul moved from Pennsylvania to live in Texas. Davy Crockett moved to live in Texas before it became a State. So what is your point! For many years the United States has been influenced by people coming to our country super imposing their idea upon our Constitution. So what is wrong with a small communtity of Constitutional Americans going and setting up a community in another country. You do know that there are over a million Brazilians living in the United States, over 200,000 of which are illegal. So what if I manage to get a few hundred people to come down and build a small community based on the principle for which we all stand for. If anything we could influence some of the people of Brazil to not be drawn into the New World Order. Since I hope you know it isn't just the U.S. that is promoting this.
Please no need to fight with the morons
You have a group of people ready to help you build a new civilization. Anyone who wants to question your motives doesn't need to do anything except get out of the way. Thank you for your generosity. Now if you could explain how the more affluent members could securely purchase more acres in foreign countries that would be appreciated.
True blue American.
I don't think moving to another country is being a coward, on the contrary. Do you think your ancestors were cowards because they immigrated to the States. Do you believe Native Americans ancestors were cowards because many went west to get away from the invading europeans. I am not suggesting anyone give up their American ideal, but certainly we shouldn't give up our right to go anywhere in the world we can if we want, we are certainly not slaves of the U.S. government.
yes
they were cowards. The pilgrims FLED religious persecution. Cowards flee.
If you think that the pilgrims are indicative of the people who formed the USA, you have been spending way too much time in the hot Brazilian sun. Profiteers and speculators kicked down the door that the pilgrims opened, they were loyal to the crown, until they got tired of sharing. The pilgrims are still right where they started, they're called Amish now, LOL.

Brazilian government stimulates legal immigration of people.
Like immigration laws in the States, if you purchase property, business or have a residence you can apply much easier for extended stays as well a perminant visas. There have been many Mennenite communities moving to Brazil over the past years and they get perminant status rather easily. In the States there is a lot of illegal immigration, but there are even more coming in legally. This is why there are many Arabic communities, Korean communities, Chinese communities and even Brazilian communities in the states. I imagine with the price of houses going down many communities of Chinese will be starting since many have cash to purchase a house. Go to Boston and see how many Brazilians legally live there and own homes. Go to New York and see 46th street which is know as Brazilian street, shops owned by Brazilians who because they have made an investment get special attention and get green cards much easier.
You people are cowards
The fact that you are even ENTERTAINING the idea of living anywhere else other than the USA means we don't want you anyways. A TRUE american patriot, someone who BLEEDS red white and blue would NEVER leave this country to go live anywhere else. And before you start calling me names and freaking out, ask this question, and you will have your answer. Would Dr. Ron Paul ever live anywhere else other than the USA??
Just because you're not happy with the current situation DOESN'T mean you tuck your tail between your legs and move to some other country. Dispicable. A member of parliment was always harrasing Tony Blair, asking him why he was such a staunch ally, and supporter of the USA. His calm, cool response was: "Because I judge a country's greatness by how many people want to get IN, and how many want to get out." There is NO country in this world that so many people want to get into. The USA is the greatest nation in this world, and if you're not happy with the current situation, then DO SOMETHING about it. Don't turn tail and hide in some other country. It may be a cliche', but I am a FIRM believer in: America, love it, or leave it!!! And if you're leaving it, then you sure as heck don't love it. Adios cowards.

I strongly disagree
While I appreciate your love of your homeland, your diatribe is a slap in the face of almost all of our grandfathers and ancestors, who fled poverty and often, yes, tyranny in foreign lands for hope for a better life in the United States or Canada. Should they all have stayed where they were bacause it would have been the "patriotic thing to do"? Should my 17 year old grandfather have stayed in occupied Poland and willingly been drafted as cannon fodder for the Czar in the Russo-Japanese War? Was he a "traitor" for leaving? Yes, I guess he was a traitor ---- to tyranny and oppression, and proud he should have been for having been such a "traitor". If things become much worse here in the US, as they appear to be, I would perfectly understand anyone considering leaving for another country, and I may just join the exodus of those who value liberty over false "patriotism".
"TRUE american patriot,
"TRUE american patriot, someone who BLEEDS red white and blue would NEVER leave this country to go live anywhere else."
This feels like a country song. Who are you to tell people what a "True" American Patriot is or isn't. Who appointed you the final say? I didn't think so.

Just bumping this up for others. There have been about 30 replies from families interested in becoming involved, some would be willing to move there right away to build, while others would need a couple years and asked if they could just pay to have someone build for them. I am going to set up a simple site with some pictures, but I really don't have a lot. But with the right people, effort and vision anything is possible.

In the city of Barrieras about 120 kilometers for the city of Wanderley there are many fast food places.
As for telephone services this is a very hot market. With the falling dollar you could make a very good living. Except I don't think you would do big business in Wanderley. Would have to be in a metropolis like Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo. The big thing in Brazil are celular phone, almost everyone has one, even if they don't have a place to live.
Need a phone guy?
OK, maybe that's a bit too broad.

Not hot in the shade.
Probably compare to Texas with cool nights and sun intense days. The property is about 900 meters above sea level so it is cooler than in the lowlands. The rainy season is between December and May which is the summer. The winter is very dry but the soil on the plateau liberates water and the trees stay relatively green all year long. The important thing to do is keep trees on the property to protect again erosion and the sun. There are already many typical fruit bearing trees such as cashew, pequei, guava and many other that are not found commonly commercially. Grapes also grow well. I had thought one time of clearing it all and planting Eucalyptus, although I would make quite a big of money I think it would be a shame. A good project for a community would be to plant native fruit bearing trees and market them.
Climate
What's the climate/weather like there? What would it compare to in the states, if anything?
My son is a pasture based farmer (beef, pork, chicken, etc.) (Salatin style). Would that be sustainable there? Sounds like water is an issue.
Thx...
I am serious about this, send me an email and I will contact.
Brazil is a big country, actually it is even larger than the continental United States, excluding Alaska. The south of the country was immigrated by many Italians, polish, german and even American excaping from the civil war back in the 19th century. Recently there have been a lot of Europeans, Japanese and Americans buying up large areas of land close to where I own my area. They have plantations of corn, soybean and other agricultural ventures. In the city of Barrieras there are nice neighborhoods as well. What I would like to see develop on my property is a community of like minded people demonstrating that we don't need to depend on the government. Of course this can be done in the States as well, but this is another option.
The property I own is close
The property I own is close to a city called Wanderley if you go to Google Earth you can find it with the following coordinates; 12''07'53.47 S 43'' 46'58.33 W
I have recieved about 25 emails from individuals and families interested in the community. I am serious about this idea, so it all depends on the seriousness of others. There have been replies from paramedics, builders, carpenters, people that build homes out of earth, opthamologist, educators, architect/developer and home builder. So it is coming together. I am gathering the names and emails together and will arrange for a forum to exchange ideas in the future. This will take time and right now we are working to elect Ron Paul as well.

Thanks for the positive responses.
I've been by that area and as you say much of it is sandy. However the soil type of the area where my property is located has a rich top soil since it has been protected and much of the area has never been cleared. Sand however if anyone was interest in purchasing these kinds of areas are being used nowadays for planting Eucalyptus. It is much better for celulose production and for use in the steel industry as coal. This is because Brazil doesn't have much coal reserves.
declaration of independence????
from who? the Brazilians?
Just because you own the land doesn't mean you can start your own country on it.

Easy, easy. Rough day? With the exception of a few trolls that pass through here we are all on the same side - that of liberty - so can we show each other a bit more politeness?
Nothing is free folks!
All I am doing is donating small plots of land to build on. But it certainly isn't going to be free. This will require planning, effort and vision. Don't expect that I am going to give land away for someone to just leave set idle. I would like to see a community develope. I'm not looking to be a leader, building a community doesn't require leadership, but it does require communication, collaboration and elbow grease (Or money to have someone build for you).

I like the anarcho-capitalist society idea.
But I was thinking more along the lines of a minarchistic-free economy society.
This isn't that kind of community, I am not suggesting that anyone follow me as a lead and drink kool-aid. But this is what the U.S. government has been forcing us to drink for years, except that the affects lead to a slow death.
