Terrible rumors from Russia continue to swirl around the Middle East that the Cheney-Bush junta has decided to bomb Iran on April 4th or 6th, targeting not only nuclear-power research facilities but ships, planes, antiaircraft installations, and the Iranian pentagon. Apparently the nuclear-power reactor being built by Russian companies will be spared, but not much else. Will it happen? Certainly the neocon hate network is working overtime to make it so. Bush fired the anti-neocon Admiral Fallon. One thing we know for sure: it will be the typical Bush administration snafu, with horrific consequences for the region and the world, not to speak of the Iranian people, and reap much trouble for the US empire. Indeed, it could mark the end of the empire if, as Bill Lind worries, the Iranians in retaliation cut off water-food-ammo supply routes to US troops in Iraq, and, with the help of Shiite militians, capture large numbers of them. Need I mention that Ron Paul, our champion of peace, is the leading opponent of war on Iran?

Iran joined
a group lead by Russia and China on March 24th. It's called the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Basically it means that if any one of the members of the group are attacked, Russia and China must respond. In other words, attacking Iran is the same as attacking Russia and China.
Bush is making an "emergency trip" to Russia this week. I think the Kremlin is going to tell him they know what's going on and are going to lay the "end game" out for him if he pursues Iran.

Thats really intresting. I read on the comments below that Isreal is conducting "evacuation and rescue drills" on that very same day. I heard this morning that Bush was in the Ukrain, but i didnt make anything of it, until I started reading these posts. Why dont the russians and chinese want us to go to war with iran? I mean, we lose if we do. We cant afford it militarily or economically. So why would russia and china not want us to do it?

Russia Needs Irans Approval On The Caspian Sea Oil Project
One reason is that Russia needs Iran's approval on what could be the largest oil field in the World development, "The Caspian Sea Project". All five surrounding countries must agree on every aspect of this Project and split the profits up five ways. In addition, China wants to have two pipe lines run into China from Iran to supply natural gas and oil. Russia also, wants to be the contructor to build the other five or six reactors in Iran to supply electrical power to Iran and then in-turn, it's neighors. Iraq has already signed an agreement with Iran to supply them power. It should be noted that Iran has a very large amount of excellent quality uranium that they want to utilize in order to power these reactors. China and Vietnam will help in updating old wells, as well as developing new oil reserves from zones that have already been identified. Five Other middle East countries have announced that they too, want nummeous to have reactors built in their countries.

China gets more than 1/3rd of its oil from Iran. Russia would love to have their ruble as one of the currencies the Iranian Oil Bourse uses. Russia has also heavily armed Iran.

I was an administrator for the Democratic party for over 6 years and am well educated in the nomination process. I left the party to support Dr. Ron Paul, and assure you that I know what I am talking about.
Our founding fathers set the system up as it is to assure that there would be no false or fraudulent support for a candidate, thus forcing THE PEOPLE to become involved in the election process and to show actual support for their candidate.
They wanted to make sure they would protect us from VOTE FRAUD and to make sure that a candidate did not win a “beauty contest” but instead win an election based upon merit.
Any candidate and their supporters can do exactly what we are doing if they choose to do so.
I am sure from the reports we have received that McCain does not have real support or he would have the delegates he needs, registered as delegates, to vote for him in the upcoming conventions.

I know many of you are new to the election process but don't worry, as I am going to go into how this all works. So read and then read again, if you need to.
Did you know that the delegates can actually vote to unbind their delegates that are bound by state rules? Did you know that delegates can actually overturn any previous vote? Did you know the delegates have control of the entire process?
Mass media (MSM) is not reporting how to become the nominee in a situation like this so I suggest that you stop getting your info from the MSM.
I know many of you are bummed about Dr. Paul not getting more votes in the states popular vote BUT THAT IS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE ELECTION SYSTEM WORKS : Let me explain to you the reality of how this functions to become the nominee.
First, stop looking at who wins each state’s popular vote. For most of the states, the vote by the people is really nothing but a straw poll and has no real bearing on who will become the nominee. The only way this matters is if one person receives 1191 delegates that are bound by state rules to be committed to a candidate. So if a candidate like McCain now has 906 delegates but he doesn't reach 1191, WHICH HE WILL NOT, most of the delegates the state “awarded” him mean nothing. Keep in mind that in most of the states most of the people that represent the 906 for McCain are actually Ron Paul supporters.
NOW there is no possible way that anyone in the race can achieve this goal now because of the major split in state wins by the candidates.
Normally, Convention Delegates do not matter because the convention is not brokered and we would have a clear winner if someone has 1191 delegates. BUT THIS YEAR IS DIFFERENT. This will be a brokered convention – there is no way around it. Do you see how the Ron Paul campaign strategy will work?
When a candidate wins delegates by winning a primary, that does not mean there are actual people that are appointed a delegate, acting as delegates – these are virtual delegates.
What do I mean by virtual delegates: A virtual delegate is just a number – there are no actual people YET that will go and vote for the candidate who won the particular state at the national convention. We call these people convention delegates.
The actual delegates are voted on (in most states) at a statewide delegate caucus after the Primary (which is just a giant preference poll) Who can be delegates? Anyone. In closed Primary states they must be registered Republicans, in Open Primary states they can be Republicans, Democrats, or Independents.

Out of the 2,380 delegates sent to Minneapolis St. Paul in September- - -
- 463 delegates are bound all the way through the convention. Some of those 463 are Ron Paul’s people.
- 565 delegates will be bound through one ballot. That is, they have to follow the results of the state election on the first ballot. After that, if no candidate has a majority of delegates, they are free to vote as they please, and McCain will not receive over 50% on the first ballot.
- 383 will be bound through two ballots, then they are free to vote for whom they wish.
- 318 will be bound through three ballots, then they are free to vote for whom they wish.

The bottom line is, less than 1/2 of the delegates are bound by state party rules. Now do you see how we can win this thing?
So what happens now, you ask? Look at the number of delegates that Dr. Paul has that are uncommitted to the other candidates and will support him These delegates are not decided by the popular vote (straw poll) of the people. Since no one will have enough delegates to skate them through to the nomination we now must look at how many delegates, NOT VOTES, but delegates Dr. Paul has that are 100% uncommitted to the other candidates and will be 100% for Dr. Paul since they are free to vote for whom they wish.
This race will go all the way to the national convention, as there is no other way for someone to receive the nomination until then.
The Republican National Convention will convene its annual Winter Meeting - and voters will continue to cast their ballots in the nation's primaries and caucuses. Candidates for delegate and alternate delegate to the convention will be elected - and thousands of convention participants and guests will begin planning their trips to Minneapolis-Saint Paul The first week in September, 2008.
SO WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?
This means that all of the people that registered to become a delegate for Dr. Paul can go to the convention and cast their vote for Dr. Paul. Now think about what I just said. Do you think for one second that all the people that voted for Dr. Paul and filed to become a delegate will not show up at the convention to vote for the good doctor? Of course they will, just like they battled the rain and the sleet and the 15 below zero winter weather to knock on doors and wave signs spreading our message.
Now I assure you that even though we didn't win the popular vote in many states, WE DID PICK UP THE MAJORITY OF DELEGATES OVER ALL THE OTHER CANDIDATES IN MOST STATES. So yes, they won the straw poll, and we won what counts – which is delegates.
Q: Doesn't Dr. Paul need to WIN 5 states to be on the ballot at the convention for the nomination?
A: NO, THIS IS NOT TRUE for people were just confused on how the process actually works.
We only need the majority of delegates from 5 states to be put on the ballot, NOT THE POPULAR VOTE OF 5 STATES, and I assure you we have picked up the majority of uncommitted delegates for Dr. Paul in more than 5 states!
Do any of you remember seeing posts by myself and many others that said BECOME A DELEGATE? There is still time in most states to become a delegate for the convention and we are picking up more of them every day.
So please STOP! ...worrying so much because you did not understand how the election system works and you might have thought we lost, didn't you? I assure you we have not!
The fact is Dr. Paul is a genius in his strategy and we are further ahead in delegates than you think and we can win the nomination.
I hope this gives you a better understanding of how we have been winning, even though most of you thought we were not.

You know, last night, I too was awakened by the strong sounds of the aircrafts. I live less than a mile away from the runway. I am COMPLETELY fine with it awakening me. However, my concern was not “how could they do this late at night”… my concern was how unusual it was to hear so many flights, so intensively, and so late in the evening. [!!!] I am sorry, but I have only been here 10 months. And, since I have lived here, I have not heard that MUCH chaos with flights. I appreciate how I have been educated today regarding the possibilities of training extensively at night. Yet, last night was very alarming to me. I did not have those pieces. What I DID know is that we had all heard the news of the confusion with missiles sent to Taiwan from Hill Air Force Base. Plus, the high concerns of how the pentagon is now having to face this major issue (hopefully, with no repercussions – who is to say that China is not looking for an excuse). I also heard how the Air Force base could be in jeopardy when it is time for them to be considered for renewal. Thus, with the breaking news yesterday and having unsettled feelings regarding it, AND THEN hearing the high number of powerful aircrafts last night....Gosh, dog it, I became more unsettled and scared. Sorry, I am new to living by an Air Force base. Sue me. There was even at one point the most HORRIFIC sound from one jet. So… I turned on the news, concerned with what was going on… and they did not have anything to report, which made me feel more at ease. Obviously, the activity was not noteworthy. However, this morning, I finally did not feel alone when it was reported on the news that others were highly concerned. Once again, I do NOT have a problem with flights at nighttime or during the day. I adore soldiers and the gifts they give our country. I sleep with a soldier every night. I KNOW how they feel and what they fight for…. I am an army wife, husband is away. They can fly all night as far as I am concerned. Yet, with the situations that arose yesterday… Why, yes, I was alarmed. In the world we live in… We can never be so sure. So, those of you who “know it all”…. Thankfully, you were right. This time. I do thank KSL [local Utah tv news station NBC affiliate in SLC] for giving some of us, some peace of mind.

Unless
Bush has convinced Putin that Russia will get an equal share of the spoils, I have a hard time seeing this unfold while Bush is there. As long as I'm speculating, maybe Bush could sweeten the deal by negating the anti-missile defense system in Eastern Europe. But, truthfully, I don't feel comfortable with any guesses at this point.

I am afraid there may be lot of truth to this rumor. I read bombing Iran in April this year already about 6 months ago. Also, Bush has prepared politically for this during his Israel meeting, Michael Podhoretz and other neocons have openly preached this and I think the neocons do want to press ahead with this. They are afraid another administration - from their viewpoint - would not do it and they will cite Iran supply of weapons to Iraq. I have heard of conservative Republican senators that follow the party line that have critisized McCain for his BeachBoy song in front of veterans, "bomb Iran". ... bombing Iran unconstitutionally may possibly cause some of them to break with Bush-Cheney and join Paul? There is a possibility. The media will try to spin it, but it could also lead to public resentment against Bush, to be anti-war....Dick Amery was also against the war in Iraq, although he voted for it.

At the mass meeting Tuesday night a lady said that she did not want to take on any jobs in the republican party she was going out of town to see her son and that he is being shipped to the middle east in a couple weeks. and she of course is concerned.
Before the war on Iraq I worked in the reservation department for one of the national air lines, and for months and months people used to be making reservations and telling me about the fact that their sons were being shipped to the middle east, and that they thought we were going to go war and then one day we did.
