Friendly advice needed
My brother and sister are basically telling me to vote for the lesser of two evils, (and implying I am foolish not to). How do I convince them that I'm not an Idealistic Fool for not being willing to compromise and vote for the lesser of two evils?
I have no intent of compromising- I will never vote for the lesser of two evils agian! I will only vote for another besides Ron Paul if he is endorsed by Ron Paul.

Tell them that doing that
Makes THEM evil!

Tell them
that if you vote for the lesser of two evils, you are still voting for evil.....and if you choose to do so...you must take part responsibility for the outcome.
It boils down to personal accountability
even if i KNEW i was the only person to vote for Ron Paul- Id still cast my vote that way. Too much at stake this time- I will only be able to sleep at night if I vote for the GOOD regardless of what happens with the other evils. If we all took PERSONAL responsibility in voting RP then we'd find out that the polls were nothing but a tool to get us to vote for the lesser of the evils. Ill vote RP not to make a statement, not to keep anyone else from being elected, not because I hate anyone- but simply because its what I know in my heart is the right thing to do.

You are so smart
Do it like Ron Paul does. Just tell them how it is and let it lay there. No animosity, no discussion. Or just stop telling them anything, let them talk as if you hear them and then go vote the way you know you must.
another thing
Ask your siblings what they are trying to do with their individual vote. What is their purpose in voting?

Better to be an Idealistic
Better to be an Idealistic fool then a media programmed drone. Tell them they can vote for any of the 3 democrats in the race but your voting for the conservative!

It is not a horse race!
The Republican and Democratic Parties have made it choice of them or us and therefore exclude any other thinking. It will last thousands of years to follow this code.
You vote to say who you want or what you don't want.
You have the courage of your convictions and your vote is your voice.
You don't vote because you want to pick the winner, or you want to screw the people you hate.
That is truly a wasted vote as we have no clue what it was you wanted!
In this way change is possible.
The other way change is not possible and what you get becomes more and more divergent to what you want.
One man/woman one vote was to allow evolution and change in politics.

I'm glad you are sticking with your priciples.
I have to say though, if you are old enough to vote, you should be old enough to stop caring what other people think. Live your life. It's your's.

I just wish they could see it my way....
and would vote RP.

If you
never vote for what you want you will never get it... Everyone that voted for anyone that lost has wasted their vote by this logic.
ask *this* question of the "lesser evil" voters
How will your vote for your preferred evil candidate help to bring better candidates out in the future?
I ask this because Ron has constantly said that he was skeptical about how many would support him in this campaign. He said *that* because of past experience. Even if I became convinced Ron had zero chance to become the nominee, I would still very proudly and happily cast my vote for him, because he has voted for me for 20 years in Congress -- by voting against the growth of big government and the encroachment of the Leviathan state upon my liberties. I certainly will reward that, and will just as certainly *not* reward statist oath-breakers -- wicked servants! -- like McCain, Clinton, or Obama. So my vote for RP would become an investment in the future, even if it were "only" a protest vote. I say that both as an American and a longtime Ron Paul Republican.
If we are offered what we want, and we vote for something else instead, why would we ever be offered what we want again?

Love the question....
I will ask this if it comes up again.
Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips
Yeah!
What you guys said.
All I say is
It's never a wasted vote if you're voting for who you really want. No one ever seems to have a comeback for that.
Tell them this
Tell your family and friends that you won't vote for evil.
You should vote for who's most right, who the country needs most in your eyes, and who you know will do what they promise.
If everyone voted for the candidate based on that criteria, we wouldn't be left with 2 bad options for a leader.
Cause voting for the lesser of two evils...
is still a vote for evil.
It's not a vote for the lesser of two evils.
That's where people get confused. You would be voting for a different face of the same evil... which is a wasted vote.
My choice is a lot clearer.. I can vote this year for good or for evil.
I'll vote for the light, thank you....lol.
Easy...
see http://www.dailypaul.com/...
If somebody tells you that
If somebody tells you that you can vote for a 49% chance of being shot to death, or a 49% chance of being stabbed to death, and the remaining 2% chance is that you'll go free, how are you going to vote?
www.paulforronpaul.com
Good way of expressing it. This lesser-of-two-evils
argument (aka: "Don't waste your vote") has bothered me for my entire adult life. What's bothered me about it is that the argument has actually been so successful.
Ridiculous
Hmmm, what to choose, a stroke or a heart attack?
I agree, but...
I think i'd draw more votes by appealing to their conscience.
Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips
I would expain to them that...
The problem with our country is that very mentality.
To vote for someone because "they have a chance" is stupid. If everyone I spoke to that said, "I like Ron Paul, but he's got no chance, so I'm voting for......." actually voted for him, I think he'd win by a landslide.
It's not a horse race. You don't get a prize for picking the winner.
Dr. Paul votes according to his principles. You should too.
I've been posting this everywhere. On political message boards, Yahoo answers, etc.................
If people keep voting for the nominees, nothing will change. Our politician's couldn't give 2 rat's asses about our country.
Some Americans, the true patriots of this great nation... DON'T trust the federal government as far as they can throw them. They are a bunch of rich, elitist f*cks with nothing on their mind but more power, control and profits for their international corporations. In this country, globalization only benefits the wealthy.
The UN-loving freaks and globalists, like David Rockefeller and the high-ranking members of the Council on Foreign Relations, have spent the majority of this century sabotaging our government, eroding our rights and freedoms, diminishing our sovereinty, and destroying the middle class.
Americans are complacent because they have no clue what's really happening. They go through their lives just trying to get by, which is harder and harder every year, completely oblivious to what their federal government is doing. Our media is controlled by 7 huge conglomerate companies who have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo.
Source: http://la.indymedia.org/n...
They use distractions like Britney Spears and brain-washing techniques to tell us their side of the story only.
Keep voting for who they tell you to vote for on TV. That's exactly what they want.
Go to the Council on Foreign Relations website ( http://www.cfr.org ) and type in "North American Union" into the search bar. Look at some of the speeches and papers, particularly the ones by Robert A. Pastor, and you'll find that they are working toward merging the U.S. with Canada and Mexico in an EU-style North American Union (NAU).
This group is the real power behind our government. The CFR has 100's of the most important people in our country (and others), mainly politicians and wealthy corporation owners. Some people say they want one-world government, some say that's just a conspiracy theory. Either way they're making it easier for their international corporations and harder on us.
I'm all for capitalism, but with capitalism you have to have a SMALL GOVERNMENT, so big business can't get in bed with big government. Mussollini had a term for that... "corporatism". Another word for FASCISM.
The main stream media... they are members of the CFR too.
If you look at the policies they are implementing in our country and around the world, and you think about how sneakily they are pulling off this NAU thing, I don't think there can be any other conlusion other than they are trying to erode our sovereignty and get rid of the U.S. altogether.
By the way, Hillary, Obama, McCain... all CFR shills.
See, so you really don't have a choice. How can we afford more war? How can we afford national health care? We can't. They are tanking our economy on purpose, devaluing our dollar in order to introduce us to the "Amero", one currency for the entire North American continent. (That's why oil is so high... it's NOT... the dollar is so worthless.)
I'm not crazy, and I'm not making this up. Look around, you'll find the evidence. This is exactly how they did it in Europe. It took them about 50 years in Europe, starting with simple trade deals (like NAFTA). They are moving faster over here.
They've already taken away our right to privacy, our right to a fair trial, and our right to free speech. I'm hoping that people will wake up and will rise up when they try and take away the only right we have left, guaranteed by the 2nd ammendment... the right to bear arms.
When they try to take our guns, they will have to pry mine from my cold dead fingers.
Oh, and you can give me all the thumbs down you want. I know you will, because you are all voting for one of the 3 evils. But if you do some investigation, you'll find out I'm right. They are tanking our economy, and Bush has already signed many agreements with Mexico and Canada. Source: http://www.stopspp.com/st... WAKE UP PEOPLE. They don't tell you this stuff on the idiot box.
They say we should be "scared" of the "terrorists", but they leave our borders wide open. We're all screaming, "no amnesty for the illegals", and every bill they put forward to reform immigration includes amnesty.
Texans are having their land they've owned for 150 years taken away by imminent domain so they can build a NAFTA Superhighway with no border checks until Kansas City.
They're leasing the land to foreigners! To take tolls from Americans!
Texans are hoppin' mad about it too...

Tell them
you got to do what you got to do.
or Ron Paul is the lesser of all the evils running, in fact tell them hes not evil at all.
Even if people did vote for the lesser of two evils, and even if the lesser evil wins, people will regret it within 2 yrs.
At least you can tell them I told you so, and will have no regrets you did the right thing.
I am struggling now with having voted for W Bush. It's probably been one of the worst decisions in my life.

Do you vote principle or to appease. Lesser of two evils is a vote of appeasing a need to pick between two evils. Not what you know is right in your heart.
It's latin for "know thyself". in case you were wondering.
We can all say what needs to be done, but who here lead by example today?
I voted to appease twice- NEVER Again!
Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips
the
the lesser of 2 evils is still evil
Did they vote for Bush? If
Did they vote for Bush? If so, how did that go for lesser of two evils? Don't try to convince them about voting for Ron Paul. Try and get them to watch Fiat Empire, America: Freedom To Fascism, Iraq for Sale or whatever. The full version of all of these is on Google video. Do you know what issues are important to them?
Don't tell them where the blue pill will take them... just get them to take the blue pill.
I wish I could- they are far away, and both very busy...
but maybe I could send them a DVD they could watch on their own time.
They care about the economy, and I've tried to approach it from that angle, but they seem to think Mc Cain has clinched the nomination. Both of them think a third-party candidate has no chance.
Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips
thank you all
They both think fighting in Iraq is more important than the economy- better here than there, they seem to think we will be more secure here if we fight them over there.

My brother and his wife said
My brother and his wife said the same thing.
I replied that they only fight us because WE'VE BEEN CAUSING TROUBLE OVER THERE FOR 50 YEARS!!!
Their McReply: "Well, we have to finish what we started".
I came home and banged my head on the wall (after sending another donation to Ron Paul :)
I'm with you - NEVER the
lesser of two evils. Write in Dr. Paul UNLESS he tell us different!
I'd rather have my vote count for something than count for nothing. If they vote for the "lessor" they've wasted their vote and then it is read as support for the evil-doers!
BTW - it won't be an issue because Dr. Paul WILL be the Rep nominee - I can feel it in my bones! Then Dems & Reps can all vote for him. They will even be HAPPY about it as the good doctor's Rx is the only cure!
Educate them
about what is Really going on in the world!
Your inetgrity.....all you really have

Thanks. I know you're right...
My brother may find that easier than my sister-long story. My conscience won't release me from an offense (non-intentional) to my sister- she says she has-but I still don't feel freed.
