Reporting from SD1 in
On March 30th, 2008 netzorro says:

Reporting from SD1 in Texas

Two of us were elected as new precinct chairmen in the primary and our new county chairman stated that he voted in the primary for Ron Paul although he dosen’t agree with Dr. Paul on every issue.
We had representatives on the Nomination Committee and my self and another were on the Resolutions Committee (2 out of 8).
Below are resolution favorable to Ron Pauls positions that were adopted in our platform and will be going to State. Some of the wording is not EXACTLY as we would like it, but overall exceptable.
Resolutions on the War in Iraq and expressing no confidence in John McCain were removed from the platform at the convention.
I’m a delegate and my wife and daughter are alternates.
We have 8 delegates and 9 alternates going to State out of the 54 allotted to our SD.
See y’all at the State Convention in Houston!

Limited Federal Government - We support the re-establishment of states’ rights guaranteed by the tenth Amendment of the Constitution, which reserves for the states powers not specifically delegated to the federal government, and reject the notion that Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 of the Constitution grants the United States Government authority to create certain agencies and regulations. We further support the abolition of federal agencies involved in activities not constitutionally delegated to the federal government, including, but not limited to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) and the position of Surgeon General, and all present authority be either eliminated, or transferred to the states and local government.
We call for the dissolution of the Department of Education.
We call for the abolition of the National Endowment for the Arts, and the de-funding of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
Conduct of Public Officials – We believe the President of the United States and all members of the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of the federal and state governments shall be held to the same standards of conduct as law-abiding citizens. We call for the investigation and, if appropriate, prosecution of any and all members of any administration that have committed crimes, up to and including possible treason against the United States of America, without respect to the office served.

National Animal Identification System (NAIS) – NAIS is an insidious intrusion of personal freedom and property ownership. This “voluntary” system, proposed and implemented by the USDA, and the Department of Agriculture, urges RFID chip implantation of all animals under individuals control, and reporting of all inter-species interactions from birth to death of the animal, and pay fees accordingly. We urge the immediate abolishment of this program.

Right to Keep and Bear Arms – The Party calls upon the Texas Legislature and the United States Congress to repeal any and all laws that infringe upon the right of individual citizens to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution; and to reject the establishment of any mechanism to process, license, record, register or monitor the ownership of guns. We urge the Legislature to clearly declare that it has the exclusive authority to determine where firearms may or may not be legally carried in the State of Texas, and that no other state governmental entity and no local governmental entity may regulate or prohibit the possession of firearms. We believe that crime committed by armed criminals should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. However, frivolous lawsuits against legitimate American firearm manufacturers for these same crimes are harassing, costly and should be dismissed promptly. We urge law enforcement and the legislature to enforce and improve current laws against criminals rather than create more laws against law-abiding citizens. We believe it is the responsibility of all gun owners to safely store and operate their firearms.

Social Security Numbers (SSN) - We oppose the current numbering of every citizen of America, by the Social Security Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service. Application for SSNs should not be required before the age of consent. We also call for removing the use of the Social Security number for any other purpose other than Social Security and Internal Revenue Service accounting, and make requesting and use of such a number for any other purpose illegal.

National Identification Methods - We emphatically oppose federalizing state driver’s licenses to be used as a national identification card for U.S. citizens, despite the advocating of such for domestic security. We oppose this expansion of governmental power over our fellow Americans.
We emphatically oppose the Real ID Act. We call on all branches of the government of the State of Texas and these United States to block the implementation of this Act, and to repeal the same.

Illegal Immigration – No amnesty! No how. No way.
With growing impatience, the American people in overwhelming numbers have asked our government to secure our borders. They now demand it and we as a party agree with the American people. Illegal aliens have, by definition, committed a criminal act. We oppose illegal immigration, amnesty in any form, or legal status for illegal immigrants. The American people remember the broken promises of 1986 and will not be misled again.
We support:
1. Immediate deportation of any and all discovered illegal immigrants;
2. an immediate end to the current “catch and release” policy of Homeland Security;
3. stiffer fines, criminal penalties, and an aggressive enforcement policy for those who knowingly employ illegal workers; and
4. expeditious hearings on deporting non-violent illegal immigrants held in prisons or jails;
5. suspending automatic U.S. citizenship to children born to illegal immigrant parents;
6. elimination of federal funding to cities that have “sanctuary” laws prohibiting local police from identifying and reporting illegal immigrants to federal authorities;
7. empowering state and local law enforcement agencies with the authority, responsibility and resources needed to detain illegal immigrants within the course of their regular duties;
8. the rejection of non-verifiable foreign-issued cards, such as matricula consular as valid identification for official documentation purposes;
9. investigation and strict prosecution of agencies, businesses or persons involved in the production, distribution or acceptance of phony identification documents;
10. elimination of day labor work centers;
11. elimination of all laws requiring hospitals to give non-emergency medical care to illegal immigrants;
12. elimination of social security benefits or government funding to illegal immigrants for education, housing and business loans.
13. legislation to prevent any foreign country and/or its citizens from using the judicial system of the United States to gain entrance to the U.S.;
14. strong document verification prior to the issuance of a Texas drivers license to anyone;
15. the withholding of federal highway funds from any state that issues drivers licenses to illegal aliens;
16. aggressive prosecution of persons involved in smuggling humans across our borders.

Welfare Reform - We call for the abolition of the welfare system.

United Nations - We believe it is in the best interest of the citizens of the United States that we immediately rescind our membership in, as well as all financial and military contributions to, the United Nations. We support House Resolution 1146, “The American Sovereignty Preservation Act” which would remove the United States entirely from the control of the U.N. We demand that Congress ratify no ambiguous treaties that compromise the United States Constitution, immediately recall our military forces from all U.N. initiated engagements and restore them to their traditional mission of defending the liberty and freedom of the people of the United States of America. We condemn any attempt by the federal government or the U.N. to directly or indirectly tax United States citizens for U.N. support. We urge Congress to resist and remove U.N. control of any United States land or natural resources. We adamantly oppose the use of Presidential Executive Orders to implement U.N. Treaties thereby circumventing our elected Congress. We urge Our Senators to unalterably oppose any agreement or Treaty that seeks to establish an International Criminal Court, make the United States a participatory party to such a court, recognize the jurisdiction of such a court within the United States or upon any native-born or naturalized citizen of the United States. We oppose payment of any debt allegedly owed to the U.N., and we demand credit for expenditures for peacekeeping forces provided on behalf of the U.N. We oppose a U.N. resolution that would force the United States to adopt gun control measures by Treaty. We deplore the placement, and call for the removal, of the U.N. flag and emblem on public property or in other US government facilities. We encourage Rep. Louie Gohmert’s to reintroduce his United Nations Voting Accountability Act, to withhold financial aid to those countries that vote contrary to the United State’s vote in the UN more than 50% of the time. It galls us to reward those who hate us.

“Foreign Entanglements” - We believe that:
1) these United States should not allow the Security and Prosperity Partnership to implement further regulations that would create the proposed North American Union with Mexico and Canada;
2) these United States should not engage in the construction of a NAU Superhighway System, and the State of Texas should not engage in the construction of the Trans-Texas Corridor;
3) We urge members of Congress to repeal the membership of the United States in the WTO; and
4) We call for the immediate withdrawal of the U.S. from agreements and World Governmental Organizations, such as GATT, ICC, NAFTA and CAFTA, that compromise our sovereignty, independence, self-sufficiency, national security and transfer power from our government to unelected foreign entities.

Balanced Budget - We support a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced federal budget that contains a spending limitation clause and full disclosure of all “on” and “off” budget spending. We do not accept any raising of taxes or fees, approving of any “off budget” expenditures, transferring tax liability to states, county and local government by regulation, federal mandates, etc., or approving any crisis spending bill without a corresponding cut in the federal budget, and the only debt reduction plan acceptable is a massive reduction in spending.
Budget surpluses belong to those taxpayers who were taxed too much, and we call for surplus funds to be returned to the taxpayers.

Internet Taxation – The Party opposes any taxation of the internet or internet services, until Federal income tax is abolished.

The Federal Reserve and the Gold Standard - We believe that it is in the best interest of the American Citizenry to Dissolve the Federal Reserve and to return to a Gold standard for our monetary system.

Federal Tax Reform – Federal tax reform is required and any reform should support free enterprise, economic growth, be simple and fair and support job retention in the United States. The Internal Revenue Service is unacceptable to U. S. taxpayers! We urge that the IRS be abolished and the Sixteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution be repealed. We further urge that the personal income tax, inheritance (death) tax, gift tax, capital gains, corporate income tax, and payroll tax be eliminated. We recommend the implementation of a national retail sales tax, with the provision that a two-thirds majority of the U.S. House and U.S. Senate is required to raise the rate. Such reforms will encourage investment and economic growth. Such a sales tax plan must ensure that no one in America pays taxes of any kind on the necessities of life, ensuring opportunity and quality of life for low- and fixed-income Americans. We believe every tax at every level should be a separate and clearly visible billing to the taxpayer, regardless of type of tax, and of calculation method, so we support tax visibility in all forms.

Education - Control of all facets of public education should be the responsibility of parents and locally elected boards of education.
We call for the dissolution of the Department of Education. We believe that federal intervention into the public education system should be eliminated. Specifically, we oppose the idea of government involvement in child rearing by placing children in federally-funded Early Education Programs and call for the repeal of the Head Start Programs.
We are opposed to the implementation of an Outcome-Based Education-type reform to our public education system, and object to any tax funds used for this program.
In addition, we note that the "No Child Left Behind" Education Bill adopts and funds the Center for Civics Education (CCE) curriculum, "We the People Program," with standards which circumvent local control, distort the true meaning of our founding documents, and undermine the meaning of national sovereignty. Therefore, we urge the Congress to repeal financial support for the CCE and its development, expansion and distribution of its "We the People Program".
We believe that the right of children in public schools to engage in voluntary prayer should be encouraged. We call for school administrators and officials to specifically teach Texas school students of their First Amendment rights to pray and engage in religious speech, either in groups or individually, on school property without government interference. We also believe that prayer should not be composed by the United States or any state.
We believe that the Texas Legislature should pass legislation allowing the posting of the Ten Commandments in all schools and public buildings in Texas.
We believe the educational system should return to the basic standards which include a curriculum of reading (with an emphasis on phonics), spelling, writing, penmanship, literature, mathematics, geography, economics, and U.S. and world history. In addition we believe that students should be educated in the Texas and U.S. Constitutions, the Declaration of Independence, science, English, citizenship and federal, state, and local government.

Woohoo!! Thank you, for reposting this, Dr. Steve ~

I just got back from a Starbucks that I had just infiltrated with Liberty cards, inserting them into books, newpapers and the cream and sugar stands, while waiting in line.

I was hanging with a friend who is totally receptive to our message, spending a lot of time informing him about you, the delegate process and updating him about what's going on with the r3VOLution.

We were on the patio, and a group was picketing a car wash across the street. The LA Times had just done a story on Los Angeles car washes, saying their workers were 92% illegal, and working for below minimum wage and tips. As we entered the street to read the picketer signs, I started chatting with a fellow next to me, informing him of the article, and he responded, discussing socialism, collectivism...and I offered him a Liberty card..."O my God, what are the chances??? Here in the middle of socialist Hollywood, a Ron Paul supporter!" he exclaimed.

It was thrilling! We got into a huge, joyful conversation...he is a delegate, and working to secure a seat. He mentioned how at his meeting he was the first one to jump up to speak after an initial speech was given...he informed his group that the platform needed to consider a resolution for the US to stop engaging in these illegal, preemptive wars. Some folks there were hardcore and said they were just supporting their leader Bush, and he said, "if he were wrong, would you follow him off a cliff?"

Anyway, this guy was electrifying and ON FIRE with the freedom message! He is NO DOUBT in it for the long haul...a true believer and a strong leader.

There are no accidents that we freedom fighters were put in each other's path. I got his email to be in touch and we all totally made each other's day!!!

...and...I am working to be an alternate delegate, as you suggested...

We are gaining ground and as

We are gaining ground and as i said we can win this thing if we just get everyone involved.
