Idaho State Legislature Tries to Exclude Ron Paul Republicans
The State Legislature in Idaho is about to pass "S1506" which would change the role of Precinct Committee Person from elected to APPOINTED by the Party Central Committee.
From S1506 - Sec. 9, 34-501,
"A political party may elect to nominate its candidates for precinct, county, district, state, and federal offices at a party conducted nomination process rather than at the primary election..."
This is a move to shut out anyone who isn't already a party insider from the entire political process!
Should this piece of legislation pass, we can only hope Governor Butch Otter has the good sense to VETO this bill.

I think Idaho knows best what is best for them....
We cannot just condemn something because it doesn't suit us at a particular point in time....based on freedom of association, I would say that i'd rather any group have the freedom to appoint its own officers, etc.
Stop and Think
California passed a law to require the Libertarian Party of California to select their candidates by having a primary vote.
The Libertarian Party of California sued and won on Constitutional grounds. We, because we have freedom of association as an inalienable right, cannot be forced to select our candidates by letting non-members, party outsiders, or the primary process, determine who, we as a party, will nominate.
Do you really want to open the door to the state being able to force the party to do things a certain way? Be careful what you ask for.
As it is, now. the state of California puts candidates on the ballot, and the people registered Libertarian can vote on them, but it's a straw poll. We delegates go to our Convention in May and decide who the nominee will be.
The concept is, why would you let outsiders, non-members, cross-over voters, government officials, etc. decide who your party nominates?
You are asking for government force to be used on a private political party?
