IN HISTORY HAS THERE EVER BEEN A DELEGATE REVOLT?? where the delegates voted for someone other than who they were supposed to??

We believe it is possible to win the hearts and minds of enough of the National Delegates and Alternates to the RNC this September, that Ron Paul can still win.

Abraham Lincoln got the nomination starting with only one state behind him in the first round, and in 2004 Missouri, for one, proved that a state's delegates can simply abstain for a round and unbind themselves.

We have started the National DVDs for Delegates Project in order to make this happen this year.

Help us! We still need delegate lists, money for production and postage, and organizers in each state.

In answer to a few of the questions I've seen here:

1. Some people have trouble registering accounts. Check your spam mail box for confirmation emails from our server--for some reason gmail, yahoo, and hotmail don't seem to be relaying our registration response email. You are required to open that email and click a link to confirm that the email listed in your registration really exists.

2. We are improving the donation page. Now we have resumes up for the President and Treasurer, as well as a Project Budget.

3. To see some of who I am and what I've done so far, look at the last link in my signature here--you can actually view the Alaskan DVD for Delegates we sent to all the non-Ron Paul delegates before the Alaskan GOP Convention in March. Note, we only had two weeks to prepare that from when we decided to go for it. We spent 6 weeks writing and refining a script and plan fo rfirst DVD in this project.

4. We need help spreading the word to get the donations we need. Let your meetups know we exist and are working hard to make a difference. If your state had a group that can help with delegate list collection and DVD distribution, let them know.

5. We created a legal framework for two organizations that will allow us to support other federal candidates along the same values, and to work to educate others with ongoing efforts. Part of our budget for this project includes those startup costs of using attorney's and filing papers. But we are built to last and serve this movement in the longer term.

You need to look at the 1860 Republican Convention (Lincoln's nomination).It wasn't a total revolt,but there were several candidates and many abstained in the first vote,which allowed them to vote however they wanted in the second.And some from (Ohio) switched their vote from who they voted on the second vote, to Lincoln on the third vote which swung the election in his favor.(The Lincoln delegates whispered to the Ohio delegates that Lincoln would give them what they were seeking in the candidate they had been voting for).

what happened with Lincoln?

Why can't the delegates simply vote "no confidence" in John McCain and then let a true "brokered convention" begin....then when the hardcore politicking begins...push for Ron Paul? Of course a little info before hand wouldn't hurt...but just getting the Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, etc. supporters to vote "No Confidence" in John McCain ought to be fairly easy and would be an excellent starting point.... If can't get Ron Paul nominated, then anyone is better than McCain.

As long as the vast majority of the American people, Republican voters and GOP delegates see Ron Paul as an extremist loon (which is currently the case, if you weren't aware), there is no way there is going to be a delegate revolt in favor of Ron Paul.

Increasingly, McInsane has been "challenging" Obama to a series of townhall debates starting immediately, before both conventions...

Wouldn't that be grand? Especially if B.O. were to insist on a more open forum? Where his ability to speak on his feet would outshine McInsane's trouble reading a teleprompter...

Imagine McInsane's position in the polls dropping from a 5% underdog to a 25%+ well before the Republican convention... Or worse. What would the GOP do? Have him call an end to it? It was his idea. He would then drop further, as he would be seen as ducking B.O.

What do you do if you are the Party, and coming into mid august your "candidate" is a 30 point underdog, and the media is laughing at him?

What if Al-Sadr gets tired of putting up with the Iraqi governments attacks?

I truly hope B.O. takes McInsane up on his townhall debates...

Our caucus votes were not even counted but we won fair and square! So many rules were broken even before the caucus began it pretty much voided it. They knew Paul was going to win, so they deliberately broke rules in an attempt to invalidate our delegates and theirs.

You may have heard what happened recently in Nevada where the state Republican convention was recessed because Ron Paul delegates were on the verge of winning most of the delegates to the national convention. How about this scenario:

At the convention, when they are taking the votes, the leader of the GOP from say, Florida, stands up and says, "Florida gives all 150 votes to John McCain", when in reality the delegates never even got a chance to vote!.

The rationale used by the leader is that "Hey, we're bound to vote for McCain, so there is no need to take an actual vote.".

If this is true, how does this affect the dialog about delegates here, if at all?
