There seems to be so much happening right now...a whirlwind of seemingly unrelated factors combining to come toward a particular end or ends. Read the news articles, with the recognition that most of the meaning is in the white space between the text, the area where you use your grey matter to ponder the items and connect the dots.
Here's the news I've been noticing recently:
- Heightened military activity in the skies over Alaska
- Checkpoints in various locations (including the Alaska/NAU set-up)
- All the airlines suddenly canceling flights for "inspections", and one airline out of business without warning
- The stock market / banker buyouts / FED manipulations
- Fed gov't kindly giving extensions to states for Real ID (even when the states didn't request it)
- The news that the 4th amendment doesn't apply to Executive Branch
etc. etc. etc.
Of course, so much has been building up for so long; we know that plans are and have been in the works for quite some time. But the pace seems suddenly ramped up, such that...well, I don't know, but perhaps there's something to the posts about April 6th being a turning-point date for something to happen. If not on that date, then, surely soon, something is going to hit the ol' fan of providence. And I don't know how prepared we will be, collectively, to oppose such a force.
One of my thoughts is: should we suddenly lose the ability to "meet" together here on DP for whatever reason...how can we continue to stay in touch? I think this community, with all its quirks, has proven to be a valuable source of information, support, and networking for us to work together in our quest for returning Constitutional government to our nation.
It is my sense that the time we have to gather together like-minded lovers of liberty is growing short, and I mean shorter than between now and the GOP national convention. We may not have even that long.
I do not mean to belabor doomsday-talk; however, I see the writing on the wall, and wonder if others also have this sense that our time is very quickly running out to set things aright and/or band together as a force of freedom.

First off, allow me to echo my applause for quick action.
Now: yes, I think the explanation was clear. There is a "however," which I didn't have time to write previously (and I really don't have the time for now, but I'll make a few moments) -- here it is...
1. As I had previously mentioned, I think such a number would best be provided more in private, via some other means than posting in an easily read thread on an open blog.
2. I don't know how comfortable I or others would be in passing out our private info to one person, particularly one who doesn't have a viewable profile (no insult intended; simply pointing out a strong reality)
3. There still needs to be Plans C and D, so to speak, for further securities.
I think you're on the right track! But...I don't know that you'll get immediate response, due to #1 and 2 above.
How do we balance our desires to hang together with our concerns about mutual trust? Ah, that question I don't yet have an answer to...perhaps I'll come up with some brilliant answer, or someone else here will. The floor is open!

I thought about what you said alot..... but how can you give a number in private so no one knows the number? I mean I could put an email address and people could email their information , I suppose. But if they write down or print the Plan B and C information then they can actually call it if Daily Paul goes down.....And let me tell you if that happens, there wont be any warning....I strongly doubt anyone will know "why it is off line" either.....
All I know is if "bad" people call and leave their information we should be able to tell by their lack of participation on any call(assuming they actually log on to it, and assuming we even need to do one), but I do agree with you that if there was a more discreet way of getting these #'s out that it would be good. I have not posted this information on a new thread just for those reasons. I am getting calls and people are leaving messages. So at least some people will be able to connect to others around the country. I also realize that many people on the forum have family or friends that they connect with that believe in what they believe in ... some may have some great meetup groups they belong to.... but I feel that those individuals who are out there who have no support group outside of this forum are the ones who will be very mentally and emotionally vulnerable if SHTF( sh** hits the fan) I am glad at least something is being done....maybe its not perfect. But I hope that those who do use this system that is set up will at least feel a little more peace of mind every night knowing they're not alone, and that there is a back up plan available....

I took out several hours of my day...
to find out what could be done....
If the internet or at least daily paul goes down.... we are blind as to whats really going on. We really don't have a free press anymore so we cant trust what is on the news....we can only trust either each other or our first hand experiences.....
-----the conference call site is through the internet( thats Plan B) which is the reason I set up
-------plan C (real phone #'s ,addresses etc. that can be called to set up a hard line conference call not an internet call) If it came down to it and we have no internet(which would be due to one of two things...government....or a natural disaster) someone would have to pay and organize a national conference call to make that happen. Since I have some experience when I worked in marketing...it would be easy to do.
As far as me I just want a free country again... thats all (read my other posts or see my last minute website www.coasttocoastmoneybomb... )
Someone needs to do this. I hope that we always have the internet and dp to access for knowledge and info. but theoretically if we were to go to war against Iran (even in a couple days) and everything fell apart dramatically and we weren't prepared everyone would be sad, and some people would not have any support group to go to(ie screwed). So I took it upon myself to take action......

This is an extremely legit concern. If we lose communication we are screwed. Remember Ben Franklin had a printing press to communicate in the first revolution.
Any suggestions ? I'm sure we are all in a data base where we could do mailings ?? I know its crazy to consider but I agree we need a back up plan. I am surprised "they" have let this go on this long.

at the very least
maybe a volunteer for every state,,,,who can in turn contact smaller groups, after all if we are at a point where internet shut down, i imagine we will also have a police state and maybe good to have smaller groups and stay on the down low
I've thought about this several times
I love the conference calls and it seems to be the most uninterrupted way to stay in communication. Maybe radio next? I'm not sure, shame in this day and age with all this technology I can't think of an alternative way to communicate with large groups of people without the internet.
Question for the history buffs ...
Wasn't there a pretty solid "underground" communication system in place during WWII for example? I remember reading books years ago that spoke about different radio broadcasts that had coded messages included in them for those who were in hiding to hear - that kind of thing. Anyone able to shed more light on that and if it could be adapted to "modern-day" use should it be necessary?

I think you're right. AND it is worth trying to look up....very possible that in a serious situation we might not have phones...or since we are all very easy to herd up (since we can be tracked by our IP if they want to) underground radio might be the way to go.....

I too share the same thoughts as you, as the events unfold I find myself dissecting every day occurrences. We must without a doubt find a way to communicate should/when we loose contact via the internet. The personalities on DP have become my support group, both personal and general. The conference call idea sounds like a good place to start.

I think this is an excellent idea. I don't post a lot on here but I love being educated every day. I would be lost without this site and all you wonderful people.
I HAVE A SUGESTION ON THIS
WOULD ANY OF YOU BE WILLING TO DO A CONFERENCE CALL SCHEDULED SAY THE FIRST MONDAY AFTER ANY "EVENT" THAT KNOCKED OUT THE dp OR THE INTERNET? We could schedule it say at 12noon this first monday after any major event. and at least each monday after for a month......that way if someone missed a monday call they could easily get on the next weeks call .we could use that call to organize problem solve, compare notes/true strories of events....True it would not compare to this forum ,but it could very well help alot of people should any situation arise that we could not have internet, or certain websites were blocked///
IF THIS IS AGREEABLE BY ENOUGH PEOPLE I WILL GET A PHONE # (if possible) that everyone could write down somewhere handy and safe(ie fridge, by land line, or in cell phone, etc) then we could agree on a time....

However, I wonder whether it should be posted on the main page (if that's what you meant by "main thread")...perhaps something like this would be better conducted (more) off the grid. Not that our phone lines aren't monitored (!), but at least it would be not quite as public as posting the number here.

Communicating without Daily Paul.....
Isn't it ironic that we might be forced to go back to "one if by land, two if by sea"
I'm guessing if something were to happen that we were unable to access internet...as soon as humanly possible I'd start to hunt down the members of my local meetup. Luckly, the leaders of our group have paper records of our names, addresses, ect....
At the very least...once my family was safe, I'd want to be a close as possible to like minded folks.

Nothing wrong with analog communications, if that's what it takes to keep us connected. Delegates in one of the Texas conventions were able to "recognize" each other, how? -- by wearing a Band-Aid on their hands! Can't get much more low-tech than that, but it readily served the purpose.
Now might be a good time to bone up on history, and learn how others were able to discreetly communicate in times of oppression -- Christians used the symbol of the fish to identify each other; spoken passwords or phrases have been used throughout the ages, etc. Although we have come to greatly rely upon cell phones and other gadgets, easily intercepted SMS messages and the like seem best to be avoided when push comes to shove. I suspect that the powers that be are rather pleased with our reliance on easily-tracked communications...perhaps you've noticed this yourself.
Incidentally, I just thought of another news item, which oddly seems to belong in the collection of the OP: the changeover from broadcast to all-digital TV. Interesting, that public airwaves will suddenly be unavailable to the public (for the purpose of enhancing your viewing pleasure, of course).
