You shouldn't have ANY credit cards in your wallet. Credit cards enable you to buy things with money that you don't have. They enable you to go into debt. Cash is king. Everybody takes cash.

Credit cards are the biggest ripoff (after the Federal Reserve) in this country. Not only do they charge usury-rate interest, they also raise prices by charging the merchant. So, the merchant's costs are passed on to you.

Another reason not to use credit cards is the loss of your financial privacy (or what's left of it). Your purchases are YOUR business, and nobody else's.

Credit cards also open the window to identity theft. There is no such thinkg as a "secure website". Hackers can break into the Pentagon's e-mail. Do you really believe they can't read credit card e-mail?

Don't make any transactions other than cash, check or money order. Otherwise, you open yourself up to fraud, usury, loss of personal information and identity theft. Learn how to handle cash.

Be sure to use the US Mail for everything. DO NOT BANK ON-LINE.

Using the mail CREATES jobs....more carriers, people on the other end to open the envelopes, etc. Don't use checking either, just cash and money orders.

Chase is in your face on this one. That is the actual name of their new card and their advertising actually says Chase Freedom. Thats exactly what you'll be doing if you are one of their customers.

I have 1 debit card,1 credit card and I pay it off every month. I also have a loan at $500 now. I've been paying all the money i can to pay it off. In 2 months, I'll be totally out of debit and will be cutting up all my cards. No longer will I be supporting a corrupted financial system.

Keep your Chase credit card and pay it off at the end of the month, every month in full...Guess who wins when you do that? You do...They pay you to use their card and you pay no interest. They loose money on me. I usually get $40.00 to $80.00 back each month and pay 0 interest and no annual fee. If all of their users did this they would start hurting pretty quick.

I haven't used a credit card in years and never will again!

We haven't had a credit card in over 17 yrs.
Probably explains why we own our home, no car payments, or any other monthly pmts.

Some advice, take it or leave it.

Keep one credit card, find one with a one time annual fee or whatever.

Use it for one thing, like groceries only, gas only.

Pay it in full each end of month.

It will keep your credit score up without it costing you much to do so, if you use it responsibly. You can use that to work within the system that you have to live in anyways. It can save you money, used correctly. Use it, don't let it use you.

This is coming from someone that is pretty much completely off the grid at this point.. I got a check from my electric company this month. I have no other utility bills.

Use the system, do not let it use you.. there is a difference.

On the positive side I know now! Until a short time ago I did not really think about the credit cards. I have become determined to get out from the debt that I (before) accepted as a normal part of life. I know it won't be easy or fast but I can do it and so can the rest of us.

When you renew, you get an "enhanced" credit card. Feel like a slave YET?

btw I always resented the monthly payment scheme.. cause even if I had a balance (young and foolish) I wanted to make several payments at once and maybe, you know, go on vacation? but that just is not allowed.

I am slowly withdrawing from it as best I can. Credit cards are gone.

I don't like paying interest or even having the temptation around.
If we don't have the money..we either make do or find a way to get what we want without going into debt.
