I am a bit beat as of now. Ever since Feb 18th I haven't slept much. There are several that I am looking at.

Match Seven: IFL Welterweight Championship
Mark Miller (8-2, 2-1 IFL) vs. Jay Hieron (c) (14-4-1, 6-2 IFL)

Hieron makes his first defense of his IFL Welterweight crown and does it against Miller, who is coming off a nearly year-long layoff. Hieron trains with Randy Couture and already had a solid wrestling background, but has added more skills to his wrestling and athleticism, becoming one of the most well-rounded fighters in the IFL. Miller is known primarily as a striker and will be trying to sprawl and brawl his way to victory. Both fighters have won two in a row and this looks to be a fight that will go into the later rounds and test both men's gas tanks. Hieron thinks that he fights better when the pressure is on and has prepared well for this fight. Miller thinks Hieron is a great fighter and well-rounded and hasn't made much of a gameplan because he didn't want to limit himself. Hieron says that he prepares to go into every fight, expecting to get his hand raised at the end of it.

Round One

Hieron has Shawn Tompkins, Chris Horodecki, AND Randy Couture...is THAT any good? Miller flashes out a jab and Hieron hits a good overhand right, taking Miller down to the mat immediately. Hieron with some short punches that land and he postures up for a big right hand. More short punches to the body and he lands another couple of rights to the face from the full guard. Hieron continues to posture up and land with the right, loading up on it and marking up Miller's face. He presses Miller up against the ropes and switches over to the left with some rapid-fire punches, overwhelming Miller from the top. Hieron with more rights and lefts and he's landing a TON of punches and the referee is looking close at this one and HE STOPS IT!! JAY HIERON WITH THE TKO!!!

Winner: Jay Hieron, TKO at 2:10 of Round One

He's with Bas Rutten and he says that his gameplan was to do whatever he wanted to do because he trains with everything. He didn't want to limit himself and he says that he took a page out of Randy Couture's book by posturing up and punching. Bas asks if Hieron respected Miller's punching power, but Hieron says that he trained for every position and he felt like he was flowing like water for the whole fight. Bas asks Randy what he thought and Randy says that it was a perfect performance and that his posture and punches were oustanding. Jay thanks his friends and family and then dedicates the fight to his wife. AWWWWW, what a softie. He also pimps his after-party in New York City. Now there's a place to have an after-party, I tell ya.
