Anyone Live Near Chicago area?

Anyone know a good place to stay around Chicago that is not too expensive?
I am on my way to the Washington DC Freedom Rally next week
Coming through Chicago. Would love to stay in the city if it does not rob me blind!

I love Chicago. You could stay with me if I still lived there, but unfortunately I don't.
Make your stop 50 miles outside the city
in any direction (well due east is difficult) and the price will be ok.

yup
Straight shot west down 290 (will bring you into the south loop) or 55, which will turn into Lake Shore Drive (head north for the scenic view). Then after your day in Chicago, head back out using same, (290/55) for the cheap motels/hotels. Where you coming from?

I would take
I-88 until you reach I-294 south. Head south until you reach the 95th Street east exit.Then, when ready to go downtown, you can jump back on 294 north for a little bit, take I-55 or I-290 eastbound into the city. It's a little under an hour if you travel quickly at non-rush hour times.
If you travel thru
Try to stay away from the North Side and the Loop the Dan Ryan/Lake Shore Drive stuff. Try to pass through on the southern edge of the city, closer to the suburbs. If you pass through using 294, 88 or 80 there are many motels/hotels just off the expressway. not too expensive. Some with whirlpools, some without. ;-)

think I stayed at the Embassy Suites last time( free drinks @ 7 ) by the air port/ not o'hare.
Just North of Oak Park ( born and raised ) take a day and see Chicago museums if you can.
