Iris Scans at Airports

My company distributed this information for our travelers. I didn't know that digital fingerprint and iris scans were already in place!

Clear Program Arrives at Washington D.C. Airports - Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport have installed airport enrollment stations for the registered traveler program. Administered by Verified Identity Pass Inc., in cooperation with the Transportation Security Administration, offers the Clear Program. Travelers enroll in the program for a yearly fee which enables them to pass through special lanes at security checkpoints for faster access to flights. The enrollment procedure takes less than a half-hour and includes digital scans of fingerprints and irises. The Transportation Security Administration stores the information and reviews it to ensure applicants are not on its own terrorist watch list and other criminal databases. Successful enrollees receive their cards in the mail in about 10 days.

This has been going on for a

little while and they just had a report of doing this to get into your hotel room as well. OPPOSE THE REAL ID!!!

And the sheep will get right in line for this

and like "Expat but still" said it will become mandatory after time...like everything else they do.

Loss of Privacy

And this would just be a continuation of the decay and abandonment of privacy in this country and around the world, a process I have witnessed and railed against for over 20 years. Doesn't anyone CARE about privacy anymore? Remember when we had telephone booths, so that others would not be able to overhear your conversation? Remember when people pulled blinds, shades or curtains over their windows at night so others could not see inside? Remember when you could fly without having to "show your papers" multiple times?

What is WRONG with people nowadays, that they are so willing to give up every shred of privacy? That is not a society in which I want to live!

Speaking of privacy,

there was an article on Drudge today (which linked to thesmokinggun.com) about a couple who sued Google over the photos of their home that appeared online. They claimed that that their privacy was invaded by Google's "Street View" mapping technology. I'm sure that 99% of the people here are not hearing about this technology for the first time, but I didn't realize HOW intrusive it was. The story/pictures can be found here:

the simple answer to that

the simple answer to that is, boycott flying. just stop doing it. i did. for other reasons albeit, but even from the roadside of I-80/76 this country has some amazing scenery to offer to those that are willing to take the time to trek across it.
