Another really good documentary is King Korn. The link is to the website as google video has taken the documentary off air! However, I caught my viewing on PBS, so check your state's listing. In essence, most corn grown today is seeded with Monsanto's GM seeds. The FDA says these seeds are safe but many believe they are not. The corn produced from these seeds are not only used for bio-fuels, but feed for our meat supply AND by-products such as fructose corn syrup. Many, many food products now have "high fructose corn syrup" listed as an ingredient. It's also in all the soft drinks (pop), juice drinks, and many other items. In the documentary, several doctors were interviewed linking the consumption of these "high fructose corn syrup" foods to the increase in health related diagnoses such as diabetes and obesity. If at all possible avoid any foods that list corn by-products in the ingredients.

While searching for the above documentary, "The World According to Monsanto", I found that it has disappeared from Google.

I refuse to buy frankenfoods, though it's a chore to investigate everything you buy in a store and the FDA doesn't see the need to label it as harmful. If I can remember, the video suggested that Rumsfeld owned a subsidiary company of Monsanto, or something to that effect? A creepy guy like Rumsfeld affiliated with a creepy company like Monsanto...go figure.

Personally, I have stopped buying ALL products which contain genetically modified foods, with the exception of mayo and ketchup, which I am presently working on recipes of my own for, which isn't easy, as my family expects them to taste the same. We buy local raw milk with no Monsanto bovine growth hormone, and I am learning how to culture it into yogurt, sour cream, cheese, etc. For those who don't have time to do this, and more money, you can buy only products readymade from health food stores. I also constantly ask at the grocery store if a certain product has gmo in it, which of course, I know more than they do, but it brings it up, and gets people to thinking and lets them know we don't like it. I also call companies if there is a chance that the food may be gm. For instance I really liked Mission brand tortillas, so I called them and checked on the internet, too, and it appears that they refuse to use any gm foods. So, they have my business. I let them know this, too. And I called all the seed companies who sent me catalogs, and asked if they sell Monsanto, previously Seminis seeds, and if they did, I politely told them that I will not do business with them and take me off their list.
We need to write ALL our reps and senators about this, and of course not only this, but about all our issues here on the Daily Paul. It takes time, I know, but even if our reps don't do what we ask, it sends them a message, and must certainly get them thinking, if a lot of people do it.
I was thinking of printing up flyers, and putting them in the library, the laundrymat, etc.

When you start to do the research into any one of the components those who would seek to dominate the world are using in their quest to do so, you begin to realize that these things all happen as a result of design.

Let me clarify something here though. I don't know, and am highly skeptical of the possibility that this is a concerted effort to make it so that big pharma & big food go hand in hand. (think about it...what if you couldn't grow your own food and couldn't eat what big food produces without the intervention of big pharma?) What I do believe though is that we are spiraling down a slippery slope where the natural & proper order of selection & breeding has been screwed with to the point that we're in very serious danger. Someday in the not too distant future we may need to rely on big pharma to help us not to die if all we have left is genetically modified foods. That is more scary than anything else I can imagine, cause then 'they' will have absolute & total control.

"Corporations" used to be chartered to each state they did business in. Ron Paul want to return back to each corporation controlled by each state they do business in and not have "international" or even "national" corporations.

Ron Paul is not for letting corporations do whatever they want and he is not for them getting special favors and contracts with the federal government. And he wants the average person to have more recourse in the courts against corporations.

This is exactly why Dr. Paul advocates a SMALL federal government that is there to protect our rights and freedoms... ONLY.

Allowing big government to get their hands on everything we do and everything we touch is what has allowed these big mulit-national corporations to control our media, our food and water, our health care system, our education, our economy, etc., etc.

The federal government should be there to protect our liberties. 3 branches, each with a check and balance system. No dept. of this, dept. of that, dept. of the other.

With a limited federal government, and a truly free market, you would have a truly free media. Not like the Orwellian mind-control, government run media like we have now. The main stream media would be like the internet... more varied opinions... more TRUTH... instead of lies and doublespeak. The media and the politicians are controlled by the corporations in our currrent system.

Just to clarify, the RFID chip doesn't store any information. It has a universally/globally unique identifier (uuid/guid) and a transmitter that can communicate that UUID to RFID scanners. This then can be stored in databases along with other pertinent information. And since it's always unique, the ease of gathering data from separate databases based on a unique identifier is simple. This is good for some things like tracking products and such, but the potential for misuse also exists, just as is the case with many other technologies.

In a free market, if you don't want to eat genetically modified food, don't buy it. Nobody will be able to force farmers to grow any particular strain of crops nor force stores to carry an particular produce. And there will not be any subsidies aiding one crop over another. If a significant number of people believe genetically modified crops are harmful, there will be economic incentive to grow and market non-modified crops. But if you are the only one, you will probably have to raise your own food.

You should keep in mind that a free market in agriculture will probably not look anything like what we have today because our market is so distorted by subsidies, credit manipulation, regulations, marketing orders, etc. But I don't think anyone can say exactly what a purely free market would look like. All that we can say is that people will have choice and the market will allocate resources efficiently to meet those choices. The consumer will control production.

The following is my own view and not necessarily that of Dr. Paul or anyone else: I think the corporate form of business is a mistake. We should never have allowed it. But I don't think you can ban it now without creating massive resource displacement. However, if you eliminate the personal income tax but keep the corporate income tax, as Dr. Paul proposes, you will build into the public finance structure a bias against corporate ownership of business and toward direct human ownership through partnerships and such. So over time, you will probably eliminate all but the most efficient corporate operations.

Corporations have already gotten the government to put so many restrictions of selling food that most Americans have no choice but to buy their food. The same thing happens with most merchadise here in the States.There does not exist free markets any more they are all controlled by the mafia/government.

and those regulations are Unfair to the small business. Large Corporation through government regulators SQUEEZE out the Lil Guy making it to difficult to compete due to so much Red Tape and BS Regulations

You ask the wrong question, grasshopper. It's not a matter of what, but a metter of WHO. The answer to the proper question is that it is up to WE THE PEOPLE to keep the big corporations from controlling us.

Stop buying their products, and they will have no money. When they have no money, they will have no influence.

Yes people, it really is that simple. The execution of such a plan will cost you more in the short term, but the results of boycotting those who have exploited us will be priceless.
