Hemp for Alternative Energy...and More!
We all know Ron Paul espouses hemp farming and, of course, we should all contact our reps and Senators to push for his bill (and amendments).
On the news since the weekend the point has been made repeatedly that food prices have gone up 75% since 2000, and wheat, rice and maize (corn) prices between 100% to 250%--saw it on CNN and could probably find it online if it's important. Growing food (corn) for ethanol in the U.S. is the major reason for the sharply increased prices worldwide, and the food shortage has now resulted in riots in Haiti. CNN also reported that there could be staple food crises in third-world countries that rely on wheat and rice particularly to survive.
The result of higher corn prices then results in higher egg, chicken, milk, beef prices, and on it goes. CNN Video with Ali Velshi about this problem: http://www.cnn.com/video/...
The World Bank has stated that the increase in food prices will continue for an undetermined time.
So this post is to urge all of us to contact and continue to press our representatives to support Dr. Paul's Bill - H.R. 1009 - in regard to legalizing hemp as soon as possible. http://stopthedrugwar.org...
Don't stop--keep nagging them and insisting. It's important for our country and it would do a world of good for Dr. Paul to see it passed during the primary cycle.
PS--this reminded me: http://www.hempcar.org/pe...
output

Would be great just don't smoke up your profits.
If we had real free markets then energy wouldn't be a problem. As the situation is now, we have to get permission for everything we do. But of course we know this is to protect the interests of the corporations and supported by corruptable secret societies.
I would like to patent hemp seed
or do you think Monsanto has done that already?
Write your representative!
Use this website to find your congressional representative and show your support for this bill and others that Dr. Paul introduces.

I contacted my representative John Culberson's office and voiced my support for Dr. Paul's bill. I will also write him a letter supporting this bill.
Thanks for the heads up!
"Hemp For Victory"
From the Internet Archive: "Hemp For Victory" video (13:51)
US government propaganda film made during WWII -- produced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture! -- touting the virtues of hemp. The film was aimed at farmers at a time when the miltary was facing a shortage of hemp, it shows how hemp is grown and processed into rope and other products.
Very interesting!
See it here: http://www.archive.org/de...
Thank You fanofwalt!
Well folks, there is the miracle plant in action for all eyes to see. Everyone should see this. What I can't fathom is how we went from Reefer Madness to Hemp For Victory to Reefer Madness again. Yet again, Dr. Paul leads the way towards sanity.
Go Ron Paul
A war was started by the federal government against drugs instead of amending the constitution they just started persecuting people using drugs and jailing them. ...............
Drugs are not illegal under our constitution and without an amendment the federal government cannot legally persecute drug users.
The country needs Ron Paul Elections are Rigged. http://www.youtube.com/wa...
Hemp...
- Hemp seeds are second only to soybean in protein content.
- Hemp protein contains all 20 known amino acids including the 9 essential amino acids (EAAs) our bodies cannot produce.
- The oil contained in the hemp seed is 75-80% polyunsaturated fatty acids (the good fats)
- contains the perfectly balanced 3:1 ratio of Omega 6 (linoleic/ LA) to Omega 3 (alpha-linolenic/ LNA) essential fatty acids, determined to be the optimum requirement for long-term healthy human nutrition.
- Hemp seed oil also provides an adequate supply of antioxidants (Vitamin E), carotene (precursor to Vitamin A), phytosterols, phospholipids and a number of minerals including calcium, magnesium, sulfur, potassium, phosphorus, along with modest amounts of iron and zinc. Hemp seed oil also provides a good source of chlorophyll.
- Hemp products have a wonderful nutty flavor that can easily be incorporated into your diet while providing a powerful daily supplement.
- Hemp oil is known to be able to cure and treat many skin conditions and has been used for that purpose for thousands of years.
=)
Wow
What a wellspring of knowledge about hemp! I'm going to rename this thread "Hemp for Alternative Energy," since I see hemp oil is used for fuel too.
HR 1009
HR 1009 Is actually how I came to learn about Dr. Paul. I gave a presentation on the benefits of hemp in my Natural Resources class, and I came across HR 1009. I was intrigued and started researching the congressman and never looked backed!
I was thrilled to be able to plug his run for presidency in my presentation, and I slipped in some campaign literature with my handouts to the other students. :)
I've written my reps urging them to co-sponsor this bill, and asked them to shed some light as to why we are importing products made with hemp from over 30 other countries. There are over 25,000 products that can be manufactured from hemp and, if used as fuel, it could potentially eliminate our dependence on oil.
He truly is the only one of the bunch that has any sense about him.

I forgot to mention we helped get this in motion in Pennsylvania first - great group of folks - they ran their mercedes on hemp seed oil - not hemp ethanol. (stalk)

My companies interest is in contracting with our regional farmers as we do with the Canadian farmers now for hemp seed, nut & oil that go into my line of food products - www.hempzels.com - Hemp has a higher cellulose than corn or switchgrass, the stalk left over after harvesting is a value added benefit to growing hemp beside just as a rotation crop - I was told by the Canadians that every crop except for wheat that grew after hemp grew talller - industrial hemp is not medicinal/recreational cannabis - I hate using the racist slang term mj - again as the Canadians have said - you can't squeeze an orange & get lemonade out of it even though the family of both is Citrus, same analogy with cats / dogs / horses & all the species & plants God created for our use. When Popular Mechanics(not the publication of today that tried to refute the questions about 911) -- PM called it the "New Billon Dollar Crop" in 1937 right after the infamous, non-scientific Marijuana Tax Act - declared Unconstitutional in the 1970's but the bull*hit was still out there confusing the public...Now Hemp is in building materials, biomass, Mercedes Benz / Dodge Strata, Chrysler Sebring car parts etc...... YES - bug the crap out of your local elected rep - especially farming - have them support HR1009 - I have it on my website too - check it out & LETS GET RON PAUL TO ST PAUL &&&&& get the Republican Nomination! Peace! - JUST SAY "KNOW"

hemp is beautiful for the earth
instead of using up all of the nutrients, hemp actually provides sustainability. hemp is like the cream of the crop people. not only is it good for manufacturing all kinds of things, it actually gives back to the earth! hemp is, after all, god given and NOT yet genetically modified, so, on a positive note- hemp has been spared because of its illegal status here in the u.s. there is always a positive somewhere eh?
yeah for hemp and go ron paul! i loved seeing him on c-span!!
ron paul is SO awesome just like all of you people in this revolution of all revolutions!
I'm all for...
legalizing hemp. Is it as efficient as corn at producing ethanol? Do you get as much energy per acre as from corn? With ethanol, it takes a LOT of energy just to produce it, will there be the same problems with hemp?Even if not used for fuel, hemp has so many other uses that it's moronic not to legalize it. Guess they're too scared somebody will sneak a few pot plants in there with it.

I'm all for ending a war
I'm all for ending a war against a plant, period!
Its my understanding
that Hemp ethanol is much more efficiently produced. I don't know if that is yield/acre or simply much easier to convert Hemp into ethanol, or both. the crop is also much better for the soil.
The constitution was written on hemp paper.
My question for others here:
does legalizing Hemp mean legalizing Marijauna?
No...
This is probably the real reason that hemp is not legalized, it would be impossible to distinguish with the closely related plant that contains lots of THC.
That reminds me of when I did my geology field work in Nebraska, we found some growing in a ditch and were ecstatic for our 'find'. Dried it out and smoked a cigar sized doobie, only to get a bad headache. Couldn't tell the diff looking at it, though! :)

Hemp was made illegal
to stifle the severe competition hemp was to a few industries whose leaders were well off enough to bribe the criminals in Congress. The cotton, paper, pharmaceutical, and others hired Harry Anslinger to spew lies to Congress for the purpose of outlawing an overwhelmingly beneficial plant. I hope they burn in He!! for eternity along with the current gaggle of criminals.
Live Free Or Die
"...hemp has so many other
"...hemp has so many other uses that it's moronic not to legalize it."
Amen to that. Before the Marijauna Tax Act of 1937, hemp was legal in this country, and I believe it was Henry Ford who made a car completely out of hemp. Also, before this act was passed, some genius invented something called a decorticator, which is to hemp what the cotton gin was to cotton. This made pulling the fibers from the stalk of the plant much much easier, and would have created a huge boon in the industry. So it's actually quite easy to produce goods from hemp. You can use to make paper, textiles, and feed for farm animals in addition to fuel.
Actually, I don't know any of those answers.
I'll do some research when I get time (extremely busy today/tomorrow and then I'm off on a trip for 3 weeks).
Thanks for great questions!
fairly good web site here
I had found 1 that was more informative but can't locate it right now.
http://www.naihc.org/hemp... I recall the other site (which I am searching for) stating that hemp is great for the soil as it has long deep roots, also requires no insecticides, will produce 10 x product per acre as trees and 3x an acre of corn. The duponts were the driving force of having it declared illegal, if memory serves me correctly.
