What I would like to see disappear in the economic collapse..Have Fun!

I have posted before about the things I am gathering to survive the economic collapse....I had no idea the amount of products I currently depend on in everyday life....and I am sure most of us out there could compile (and probably have compiled) an extensive list of things we've grown accustom to or have a penchant for in order that we have what we need should a shortage occur or hyperinflation prevents us from buying...

But...

I look around and see so many things I wish would just disappear off the face of this earth...and I deeply hope that they do when the depression hits us...we can only be better for it.

I know that the economy will wipe out many things in the selection department..An entire frozen aisle at Walmart dedicated to 200 different ice creams will shrink to a handful of products etc. And this will happen across the board..

That's why I hope the next few items and/or services bow out an never return. The junk that pervades our lives...

Strip malls...tanning salons....designer over priced purses and accessories..Infomercials...Starbucks.. believe it or not..cellphones...and the ugliest shoes in the universe...CROCS !

There are so many things..Maybe you can add yours..

Well, since many will be

Well, since many will be unemployed during the economic collapse we can spend our time doing many positive things.

1. Review all laws that Congress ever passed in order to identify those which are unconstitutional.

2. Clean up some of the trash littered around our towns.

3. Neocons. Yeah, I think it would be nice if some of them would disappear - or at least revise their political views to include obeying the Constitution.

4. Would be good if high gas prices disappeared....

What I believe will go with

What I believe will go with the economic collapse are the laws prohibiting the cultivation of hemp and, of course, it's highly cultured cousin sinsemilla.

What I'd Like To See Disappear

In God We Trust!

What I'd like to see disappear? >>>>> Press #1 for English

Not what I'd like to see disappear, but what likely to disappear

,in my opinion, are: 1) people's ability to service debt, 2) demand for general goods and services including the demand for food and energy 3)...

I guess what I'd like to see disappear are cosmetic surgeries, breast implants, ridiculous sun glasses and other artificial things that people spend way too much time on.

Hey ya know what I thought was funny...

Yesterday when I signed up with the new site, http://www.campaignforlib...
I was looking too see if my name would roll by, I didn't see it but what I did see and I believe it was up around 400 people at that point if I recall correctly. I saw the name ( Jesse Ventura ), it showed no address though. I kid you not, it simply scrolled by with no address listed "Jesse Ventura". Now I know it could be anyone but notice it shows towns and states. I thought the towns and states where mandatory fields? From what I've seen, it shows everyone else's Town & State. This was JUST "Jesse Ventura"... Just letting us know... "Onward" >>>>

Oh yeh, it just went over 40,000

Added > I'm not gung-ho the body, cuz I get the feeling he is into himself a little more then normal. Overall he is good... I just thought you might like to hear it??

What you believe too be true, is true too you...

The department of education

down with 'government run schools' and up with 'free market education,' only this can save the future of our country in the long run.

What would I like to see disappear?

The prevailing attitude that the purpose of life is to accumulate wealth, and the accompanying condescension towards those of us who choose not to play that game. I consider money to be no different than food, water or oxygen; I need all of them to survive, but I don't sit around daydreaming about any of them.

I respect your right to chase dollar signs if that's what makes you happy, and I'll even help defend your hoard against governmental theft. The least you can do in return is to not look down your nose at me for not sharing your obsession.

Feel free to classify your fellow money-hungry drones according to who's "winning" your game, but recognize that some of us choose to not even play, much less try to win. Please place our names in an alternate column, rather than at the bottom of yours.

(Note: This is not a condemnation of capitalism. I'm no Marxist. I understand the inevitability of economic classes in a truly free society. But don't expect me to accept the second-class status you apply to those who play your game and fail. I exist outside your hierarchy.)

Phoobaar!

Dump every doodad into the

Dump every doodad into the drink.

Twingtree, is your question for me?

Re my craziness over things that just strike me as so incongruous as to approach complete lack of awareness? For me, using a pick-up truck as a passenger vehicle instead of as a pick-up is just absurd...and then driving that thing at 80 miles an hour up into the mountains to get out into the "wilderness" to ride another stupid contraption that makes incredible noise, stinks, and burns fuel for what? More entertainment? To be one with nature? Please! Or simply to drink in the woods and leave a mess behind?

People can do whatever the heck they want, basically, as far as I'm concerned, but when I see employees of my condo association's landscaping company wearing protective gear--i.e., goggles, headsets, and masks--so they can use machine-powered contraptions that make incredible noise, give you a headache, and make your eyes water--to make the "landscape"--I dunno--pretty? You gotta wonder. Really. Uh, have these folks heard of a rake and broom?

Leaf blowers and snowmobiles! Gotta go! :)

Give me..

.. a natural yard filled with hundreds of "weeds"(most often herbal and medicinal plants with food value) over the golf course fake looking yards full of "ornamentals" anyday...

=)

I'm not actually...

...referring to your statement and the inefficiencies with which we do our business, but to those misanthropes, the Sierra Club types, who ultimately think humanity is a cancer, and that the world would be better off without us. Better for who? I'm not sure. In any case, I am all for an environmentalism that is about improving human environments, whatever that might mean, but viewing the integrity of the existing ecosystems as more important than human health or happiness is a sickness and one I'd like to see go away.

What..

.. are you on about?

It must be the styrene

migration that leached out of his styrofoam cups that he loves so much, that caused him to be cranky.lol

Yes, yes...

...and the flouride in your water made you retarded. Thank you, Dr. Alex Jones. In any case, people are generally rather more durable than they are given credit for by the hypocondriac, psychosomatic-dominated masses that freak out about "fibromyalgia" and "chronic fatigue syndrome". A bit of styrene (and you don't get too much if you don't reuse the cup) never hurt anyone, unless they were so convinced it would that they created their own symptoms.

honestly-

twiningtree is having fun with me too. I just posted about being too independent minded to band together and got called a collectivist so ......Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips

The prevalence of arrogance

The prevalence of arrogance that permeates this society!

the US government....

and maybe even all the other governments in the world. Civitas delenda est!

hmmm...

Time to list Fox News again. Oh, and while I'm at it, the comparable: Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?

A few of the people here!

For instance:

1. Luddites: There are only 2 ways to end technologies, dark ages and outlawing them. Which one are you hoping for? You'll never get rid of cellphones, Oh ye agrarian deluded. The past SUCKED! We are way better off than our ancestors. Ever have people looked back to the past as some sort of golden age, and it's always been nonsense. I like having antibiotics and not losing half of our children before they reach adulthood, thank you!
2. Environmentalists: Who are you trying to save the earth for? Some vile little critter that would eat you if it could? I've studied biology all my life, and I am confident that any example of human horrors can be matched or exceeded by something that happens in the "natural" world. Further, the distinction between "natural" (not from people) and "artificial" (made by people) is false and silly. There is nothing unnatural about anything we do. We are products of nature and nature's God. I freakin LOVE styrofoam. I miss it. It's great for insulating yummy cheap coffee.
3. Cops: I never break laws except slight moving violations, but I still get freaked out by cops. Uniformed government thugs who have a right to use any force, basically at their discretion, and whose word is assumed to be more valid than my own if I complain. People should be responsible for their own protection. We don't need f-in cops everywhere. They're there to protect the system, not the people. "To protect and serve" doesn't refer to you, it refers to the state. And the state is the primary enemy we face.

There's a start, anyway.

the Federal Reserve....

The fiat currency, the staid independence(as opposed to interdependence) of Americans, The closed Church/ assembly, the erosion of / apathy toward our Constitutional rights, the Democrat/Republican stronghold on elections, the personal tax on work for pay, the IRS, diebold voting machines,CFR run politicians, imports from Chiina tainted with lead. Less seriously (not to be outlawed , I would just like to be able to ignore them) cell phones, cappuchino shoppes, pet supermarkets, and pet salons.
Will policemen still be armed with tasers? Tasers would be #1 on my list of things I would like never to have to see again.( I would accept a realistic defense against them as a substitute-too many times they are abused)

Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips

Well,

...look who's a collectivist! What's wrong with independence? You want us all in little communes or something?

Communes........

My bad, but even our Founding Fathers said : "We must hang together or we will all hang separately-- I by no means ment we should form a commune (collectivist- enforced by a form of government-G-d Forbid!) but just that we should , of our own volition , be ready to help others and defend the rights of those who can not defend themselves (such as our children) and that we should prepare to unite in Liberty and not try to fight this fight on our own. What I ment to say is that we as Americans live under a facade of independence inspite of our increasing dependence on government, and it would be better to acknowledge that we need to band together to fight greater government interference. After all, aren't we joined together in support of Ron Paul?

Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips

A little off the wall, but...

...riding lawnmowers and those god-awful kerosene or propane burning, toxic-stink creating leaf and dirt blowers. For the love of God--am I the only one who sees the total incongruity of "caring for nature" while simultaenously creating small "twisters" of dust, dirt, and oh, yes leaves while disturbing the peace and stinkin' up the joint? Is it just me?

And yes, SUV's, snowmobiles (another ridiculous machine used to create noise and pollution while enjoying nature..?), housing developments that rip down trees by the thousands miles from anywhere so the inhabitants can enjoy nature (do we see a theme here?), but practically have to drive to their mailbox to get their mail and have to drive everywhere to do everything...I tell ya--when I drive up north and see these bozos in their huge SUV's or pick-up trucks with their snowmobiles in the back--I really, really, really have to worry about the brain power behind that...

The Department of Energy, the Fed, the Department of Education, the Department of Labor, the Department of Health & Human Services--I'll stop here. I'm sure I've pissed off plenty of people already. :)

abso-freakin-lutely

I hate the blowers and everything else you mentioned too!!!

How could I forget

those leaf blowers. Remember the days of rakes!

Leaf blowers !!!!!!!!!!

They first came in my mind when I read the title of this enlighted thread and I don't even know the German word for it. But these awful things really have to go!

Makeup LOL

That way you can sew what women look like behind their masks. Muwahaahaaa.

We can all say what needs to be done, but who here led by example today?

Funny

I never could understand the female facination with make-up and I'm female. I don't understand the designer handbag thing nor the fashion trends either.

I hope political correctness

I hope political correctness dissappears, and people learn that one size doesn't fit all in America.
For ex.
Not everyone believes your born gay/lesbian.
Global warming isn't proven by science.
God is God, not government or man. Nor can man or government change the world for their purposes or change God's will.
You don't have to graduate from a state run or subsidized high school/ college to get a good job or be successful.
Success and happiness isn't how much stuff you acquire, or commuting to a big city for work making a five or six figure income.

People should take care of their own instead of government taking care of them.
Too many to list.

political correctness

freedumb is not free! isnt that an oxymoron?

Things for first eradication:

Besides the FED, Dept. of Education, etc... as many have pointed out.

1. People Magazine
2. Star Magazine
3. Any other "celebrity" magazine
4. Fashion Shows and Magazines
5. Fashion Shows with clothing for "men"
6. Southern California/The Entire State of Florida/New York & other Northeast yuppie areas (minus Ron Paul supporters of course) - or perhaps we can repopulate them with sensible people?
7. Award Shows
8. Any television programming that is not Mythbusters, Survivorman, or Penn & Teller

Most Definitely

Think About It

With the potential for an upcoming financial crisis that will extend to each and every home in the United States and your recent post regarding what could items and services be gone as a result, it brings to my attention just how much money is going out the door for the items and services I really don't need.

Cell phones are a big one; $200 a month betwen mine and my wife's and my daughter is getting to that age where she will want one soon. Cable television; over $100 a month is being spent in my home for that luxury. Credit card bills account for $550 a month between me and my wife, which is probably not too far from home of many Americans overall. So right there without having to stretch my mind too far, I have $850 a month in expenses for things I really don't need.

If and when things get bad, a simple discontinuation of paying for these bills will give me some sort of flexibility to still feed my family, keep the roof over our heads, and keep that home with electricity and gas.

We will all be able to make sacrifices to ensure our safety and perhaps some of these extra luxuries could be curtailed prior to the collapse.

This will be an interesting upcomming couple of years that is for sure.

Before I log off for the day...

I sometimes enjoy telling my grown kids the things we didn't have growing up..

My developing years were spent in the seventies so I recite my list to them and their eyes grow wide..

we didn't have..

microwaves
cellphones
computers
video games
cable tv or satellite
malls
Walmarts
Box Stores
ipods
DVD's, Cd's or Video's

We didn't have toys r us...we had the sears wish book...

I could go on...and on...and on...

My kids look at me bewildered...You didn't have text messaging?(the horror)
