Is 420 more important day than Independence Day?

I suggest that 420 is. Why? In order to celebrate 420 properly you would have to take steps that some states, and the whole of the federal government, see as illegal, Yet, it is a free choice which harms no one other than perhaps yourself (depending on who you listen to). What better way to celebrate our independence against tyranny than to assert our independence this weekend against the current tyranny we are facing.

That could be said for all days where we can act against tyranny's vile attempts to harm us. But 420 is near, and it's a stand against one of the vilest attempts yet! One which puts millions of americans in jail a year for no other reason than because the tyrants can.

Yes

..I'm all in!

It's 4/20

No excuses required to celebrate freedom and liberty.

Freedom and liberty

Ron Paul wants to end the federal govenment's war on drugs, which has earned him many supporters. Don't marginalize these good people like the Good Doctor has been marginalized by the MSM. It's a big tent, there's plenty of room for all of us.

420 Music

A great song about the drug war (creatively titled, "Drug War") can be found here. Give it a listen.

marijuana

Legalize not Legal LIES

Freedom or Free For Them

While I agree....

While agree that people should be free to do what they choose, I merely believe that a day dedicated to smoking pot is profoundly retarded.

I used to smoke pot. Hell, I used to smoke a LOT of it, but I stopped because it got to the point that that was pretty much what I did when I wasn't at work or school. I have never regretted that decision.

Additionally, many employers now do drug screens and/or random drug testing. I would never sacrifice my ability to work in my field to smoke. It is are the employers choice of whether or not to require a drug free workplace and I respect that.

I just think the whole 4.20 thing is retarded in general. Back when I was a pot smoker we didn't have certain times of day or certain days or whatever, we just did it.

For the pot smokers, I couldn't care less if you smoke pot, I just think that the idea of 4/20 being more important than Independence day is well, moronic, give me a break.

Raisputin

It's not a day "dedicated to smoking pot", it's a reminder and a celebration. A reminder that we're not yet free and a celebration because the herb is one of the greatest gifts from our Creator. Young guys that smoke a lot of pot may seem "retarded" to you now, but that's OK. They'll get over it. I think you need to celebrate this weekend, better with a joint than with a drink, I think. Listen to Bob Marley, he'll tell you it's about freedom and liberty, if you don't know.

Fait Accompli

Independence from Britain is an accomplished fact. Pharmacological freedom is yet to be won. In the grand scope of history, probably 7/4 will reign supreme, but 4/20 is more urgent today. We must fight the battles before us before we can afford the luxury of celebrating previous triumphs.

Pot Like all drugs is

Pot Like all drugs is wrongfully persecuted...heck esspecially pot! It has no proven ill side effects...at least not when compared to Legal drugs like alcohol and tobacco. Its safer than both by a long shot. The Denver "S.A.F.E.R." movement made great strides in legalizing it...though they still cite state and federal law in arrests.

Since when is it the federal governments right to tell you what you can do to yourself. Do some drugs ruin lives? Yes absolutly...but is it your right to ruin your own life? of course it is.

"hey son...you cant stick that needle in your arm!"
(puzzled look) "F*CK YOU! Its my F*ckin arm!"

Enjoy your festivities guys and gals! I'll raise my Legal glass to you!(gave Smoking up a awhile back...its not worth my job!)

I think...

.. weed should be legal to grow, smoke and sell but I don't think a 420 day where bunches of people get arrested will do anything to help the Liberty movement. The average person would just say, "Look Ethel, we have hippies again like in the 60's"

I've never touched the

I've never touched the stuff, but I do believe it should be decriminalized. The constitution does not give the federal government, as far as I understand, any power over this issue. It is a states right, as noted in constitutional amendments 9 & 10, to decide on this issue.

I posted earlier a thread

that got buried because nobody read it or posted anything. Anyway - Ron Paul introduced a bill into Congress today along with Rep Barney Frank.

Frank's bill would decriminalize marijuana at the federal level (up to like 4 ounces or something) and Paul's bill is a medical freedom to use marijuana bill. I urge you all to call your Reps on Monday 4/21 to support both bills.

And if you can find the thread i posted,"ron paul comes up big for 420" give it a bump because its my first and only thread. My thread posting viriginity loss has been, just like in real life, quite brief and very disappointing to all involved :) Plus im not 16 anymore.

Hahahhahahahaha!!!

Edit: http://www.dailypaul.com/...

Actually

I saw that one the same day I posted this one. It's part of what inspired this post.

Right on

I posted another one today "Ron Paul Introduces H.R. 5842" that gives the bill numbers for each, etc...

Also, a link to join NORML for $4.20 for a yr membership if you sign up on 4/20. I am a member and so should all of you :)

just alittle civil disobediance per say....

just because something doesn't have apparent harm is it any less harmful than for you to disobey the law. The call for the Fed to stay out of governing this law is what Dr. Paul advocates not necessarily that one consume the product or not. Don't we ultimately have the choice to disobey/obey anyway? Humans are wired for order and like laws no matter how loud we yell against them, its only when the law supercedes personal freedom to choose obedience or not do we have to dig in our heels and light up anyway. whats 420 mean anyway? LOL

Way to try to get the

Way to try to get the pothead vote out. Personally i like the 26th of July. The day in 1983 that we lost track of our ownership.

4/20 LOL

sorry 4/20 is just stupid

I respectfully disagree

Perhaps if one were to look at the war on drugs and its detrimental affect on the constitution and civil liberties over the course of several decades and which continues to this day unabated - one would call the 420 activists and enthusiasts present day freedom fighters. And the marijuana rallies, seattle hempfest, etc... are currently the largest single gatherings of civil disobedience this c ountry has to offer. I think your comment is highly misguided - pun intended.

Everybody's hobby is silly, stupid, and boring -- to somebody else.

If you're not into the herb, then don't use it. If you don't golf, don't golf. If you don't collect comic books...

The list is endless. The point of 420 pride is that OUR hobby is no more silly and boring than yours. We'll do our thing, you do yours, nobody's rights are violated, and we can still get along.

(About the title of this response: Uncle Adolph was, in many respects, a typical totalitarian vegetarian with a vendetta against smoking or just about any other freedom. He would certainly be offended to know that his birthday was being so disrespected. He deserves this thumb in his eye.)

There should be...

.. a federal law requiring everybody to collect comic books and it should be an amendment to the Constitution.

Great Krypton!

NO!

Back issues are already expensive enough. We don't want more demand chasing static supply. It's hard enough as it is tracking down choice Teen Titans from the late sixties and early seventies for a reasonable price.

It depends on your outlook

It depends on your outlook and possibly the day. I would imagine that 4/20 is more important ON 4/20 and July 4th is more important on July 4th :-)

I have a Ron Paul delegate meeting that morning but after that I'll be headed to Civic City Park to partake in the annual festivities. And even though marijuana is LEGAL in Denver, I will NOT be participating in 4:20 smoke out. I'll just be there to watch.

cool...

Another garden thread ; )

Haha..

.. secret gardens. =P

I agree with the secret garden...

Plain sight works too, if you plant it next to the corn : )

Weed will be legalized..

OMG Save the seeds...

I can just imagine glow in the dark weed, laced with Agent Orange.

No

I know about 4/20 and have, in the past, celebrated it hardily. I even understand how you see it as a struggle against the rediculous and unconstitutional drug wars. However, no amount of lighting up can come close to comparing with the birth of an independant nation.

True, the celebration of Independance Day has lost some of its power, given that the freedoms our forefathers won that day have been all but crushed under a bloated dictatorial government. However, I would never, not in a million years, claim to say that those who secured the dream, the hope of a free and independant society would be akin to lighting a dubie on your back porch.

Were we all to take up the revolution necessary to bring about real change, even a new Day of Independance whereby the shackles of our current taxors and oppressors were at last broken and shattered away, i would then consider celebrating a new day on equal terms with that of Independance Day.

~I will never again accept the lesser of two evils.~

True

But the point is that this is not an independent nation anymore. Not like it was back then. What we are celebrating on independence day is something we no longer have; an independent nation is no more, we are just celebrating ghosts. Wouldn't it be better to take our independence back in any smaller manner possible, and celebrate those days?

That was my point. It has been over a decade since I have celebrated 420. This year I will celebrate all forms of independence. I hope everyone does likewise in their own manner.

Heh, I usually celebrate 4/20

but can't ever seem to remember how I celebrated on 4/21 ;-)

I don't know what 4/20 is.

I don't know what 4/20 is. I thought 4/20 was the anniversary of the Columbine Shooting, Hitler's birthday, and Earth Day... none of which I will be celebrating (maybe Earth Day... if I remember).

420 is the number associated with marijuana.

i know that too... but

i know that too... but that's every day at 4:20.

Annual

Consider it the Annual world-wide celebration of the same twice-daily moments. Honestly its really just a reason to party out, which is great!

~I will never again accept the lesser of two evils.~

oh ya... I guess I forgot

oh ya... I guess I forgot about the University of Colorado and their allowed event for students to go smoke and sell marijuana on campus and such.... well whatever...
