Has the U.S. Government ever carried out false flag terror attacks?
Well, as shown by this BBC special (http://www.amazon.com/Sac...), which contains interviews with some of the key players, it is probable that America knew of the Japanese plan to attack Pearl Harbor -- down to the exact date of the attack -- and allowed it to happen to justify America's entry into World War II. See also this short essay (http://www.independent.or...) by a highly-praised historian summarizing some of the key points (the historian, a World War II veteran, actually agreed with this strategy for getting America into the war, and so does not have any axe to grind). The Pearl Harbor conspiracy involved hundreds of military personnel. Moreover, the White House apparently had, a year earlier, launched an 8-point plan (http://en.wikipedia.org/w...) to provoke Japan into war against the U.S. (including, for example, an oil embargo). And -- most stunning -- the FDR administration took numerous affirmative steps (http://www.google.com/sea...) to ensure that the Japanese attack would be successful.
And the New York Times has documented (http://www.nytimes.com/li...) that Iranians working for the C.I.A. in the 1950's posed as Communists and staged bombings in Iran in order to turn the country against its democratically-elected president (see also this essay: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...).
And, as confirmed by a former Italian Prime Minister, an Italian judge, and the former head of Italian counterintelligence ((http://www.guardian.co.uk...), NATO, with the help of U.S. and foreign special forces, carried out terror bombings in Italy and blamed the communists, in order to rally people’s support for their governments in Europe in their fight against communism (http://en.wikipedia.org/w...). As one participant in this formerly-secret program stated: "You had to attack civilians, people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from any political game. Moreover, recently declassified documents show that in the 1960's, the American Joint Chiefs of Staff signed off on a plan to blow up AMERICAN airplanes (using an elaborate plan involving the switching of airplanes), and also to commit terrorist acts on American soil, and then to blame it on the Cubans in order to justify an invasion of Cuba. Indeed, top bioweapons experts have stated that the anthrax attack may have been a CIA test "gone wrong" (http://thescotsman.scotsm...); and see this article by a former NSA and naval intelligence officer (http://www.counterpunch.o...). It is also interesting that the only congress people mailed anthrax-containing letters were key democrats, and that the attacks occurred one week before passage of the freedom-curtailing Patriot Act (http://archive.salon.com/...), which seems to have scared them and the rest of congress into passing that act without even reading it. And it might be coincidence, but White House staff began taking the anti-anthrax medicine before the Anthrax attacks occurred (http://www.judicialwatch....).
Even the former director of the National Security Agency said "By any measure the US has long used terrorism. Thanks for the link to Richard Gage's 9/11 Blueprint video. I actually hadn't seen that one before. It's a very academic deconstruction of the official story. It's the best video I've seen to make a solid case for demolition. Out of all the videos I've seen so far this one has to be the best simply because of the approach taken from an architects point of view.
We were all lead to believe that the buildings were pretty weak when in fact they were the strongest in the world. The only thing that could have possibly EVER brought those buildings down was demolition.
However that's neither here nor there. This is a Ron Paul forum and I at least would appreciate if only Ron Paul is discussed here. Ron Paul has nothing to do with 911 theorem.

What Ron Paul believes or doesn't beleive doesn't change the truth, and doesn't change the fact that a HUGE percentage of Ron Paul supporters believe that 9/11 was an inside job. In fact, truthers haven't turned away from Dr. Paul in spite of his public position, and are even some of his most devoted supporters. You see, "truthers" (with the exception of a few loose screws) are actually rational, intelligent, freedom loving, open minded, TRUTH seeking TRUTH supporting people. Ron Paul doesn't have to agree with everyone on every issue for his message of freedom and Constitutional government to be appealing. Not Buying a Pearl Harbor Conspiracy
...if for no other reason than that even if FDR wanted war with Japan and Germany, he would not have been willing to sacrifice the Pacific Fleet in order to make it happen.
The Japanese blew all our battle wagons out of the water that day, while the carriers which were out to sea survived. Pearl Harbor, along with Midway, showed that carriers were the key to naval victories and the age of the dreadnaughts had passed. But with the exception of a very few innovative military tacticians (like Billy Mitchell) this was not generally understood at the time.
If FDR or any other pro-war person or group wished to create a situation where Japan would be seen as an aggressor, thus forcing the US into war, the conspirators would have considered the Pacific Fleet to be a vital element in winning that war.
Did the oil embargo push Japan into war with the US? Yes. Did conspirators who wished the US to enter into war with Japan and win that war sacrifice the Pacific Fleet to create a pretext for starting the war? No way. Doesn't make sense.
Japan simultaenously invaded other places that day, including areas with an American military presence such as the Philippines. This alone would have been enough for FDR to declare war on Japan with the approval of the American people. No sacrifice of the Pacific Fleet was necessary.

So FDR the jerkweed he was, knew he would have to get the US population mad. he cut off oil supplies to Japan and did other things to provoke the attack. they had broken the Jap code and knew the exact time and where the attack was going to occur At least 2 weeks before. He purposly sacrificed 3000 american lives to get the country so outraged it would go to war! does that sound like something else that happened in 2001?? this is a poor summary of what the 1,000 year war book written by Richard Maybury says. In 1940, FDR ordered the pacific fleet transferred from the West Coast to Hawaii. Admiral Richardson complained of inadequate protection from both air and torpedo attack. He twice disobeyed orders to berth the fleet there and was replaced by Admiral Kimmel, who later brought up the same issues.
Battle of Taranto
I used to feel the same way until I read about the Battle of Taranto (http://www.battle-fleet.c...)(November 1940). The Japanese studied the battle and realized carriers were the weapon of the moment. I believe our naval commanders were also smart enough to draw this conclusion. The battleships could have been deemed expendable within the bigger picture.

Taranto convinced the Japanese that an attack on Pearl with torpedo planes was possible. But it did not change the thinking of American military planners. Bull Halsey's big dream was to fight in a great battleship on battleship engagement. It never happened -- but Halsey and his fellow commanders believed that such engagements would be common in the Pacific Theater.
I'll repeat what I said before -- no conspirator who wanted to win a war with Japan would have accepted a situation where nothing but three aircraft carriers stood between the Japanese empire and America's West Coast.
Don't you think that the deaths of American soldiers in the Philippines would have been enough provocation for the American people to enter into war? I do.
Besides, FDR wanted to fight Germany and he used Japan as a back door to enter the war (by provoking Japan via the oil embargo and other measures, but not through a grand Pearl Harbor conspiracy) and then declared a "Germany First" strategy of engagement. If FDR was willing to sacrifice the lives of thousands of men and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of armaments, wouldn't it have made more sense to haveused those resources to start a war with the main target -- Germany?
Wilson got the US into World War I based on the sinking of the Lusitania. FDR was an official in the Department of the Navy at the time. If he had wanted to trick the Axis into war with the US in 1941 he had a template in the sinking of the Lusitania which could have brought about war with the real intended enemy -- Germany -- and with the loss of a single commercial vessel rather than the near toatal devestation of the Pacific Fleet.
My final analysis: FDR was willing to poke and prod the Japanese and the Germans in order to get them to play the role of the aggressor in regard to American entry into the war. He had no need to sacrifice the Pacific Fleet to get the war started. FDR wanted war. But he wanted a war he could win.
He did not sacrifice the Pacific Fleet because (1) he didn't have to and (2) he would have wanted to use the Pacific Fleet to win the war.

U.S. involvement in Vietnam began as far back as 1954, but the "official" position was that no combat missions were conducted until late 1963. The official declaration of war on Vietnam in 1964 came as a direct result of two alleged attacks on two U.S. destroyers by North Vietnamese PT boats in the Gulf of Tonkin. A report released in 2005 by the National Security Agency indicated that the second attack likely never occurred.
