Federal Decriminalization Bill Introduced co-sponsered by Paul
US Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) introduced legislation in Congress today to strip the federal government of its authority to arrest responsible adult cannabis consumers. The measure, H.R. 5843, known as an “Act to Remove Federal Penalties for Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults,” is the first federal decriminalization legislation introduced in 24 years.
“It's time for the politicians to catch up with the public on this [issue],” Frank said. "The notion that you lock people up for smoking marijuana is pretty silly."
Frank's pending bill, co-sponsored by presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), seeks to eliminate all federal penalties prohibiting the personal use and possession of up to 100 grams (3 1/2 ounces) of marijuana. Under this measure, adults who consume cannabis would no longer face arrest, prison, or even the threat of a civil fine. The bill also eliminates all penalties for the not-for-profit transfers of up to one ounce of pot.

Peace.
ok, nevermind, sorry to point fingers my friend......
Here is a link, seems legit to me:
http://cannabisnews.com/n...
I thought it was too good to be true...
you have a link to the actual bill?
I can't find this bill anywhere, it appears not to exist. I found similar legislation down some years ago that attempted to allow for states to allow medical marijuana if they want to, but nothing about legalization.....
Are you sure this isn't some internet rumor, or maybe lastmovement is pullin' some chains here.....
its kinda funny that alcohol
its kinda funny that alcohol is legal,, but that only because of the kennedys! more people are killed by booze then any other drug...
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
I just didnt get a job
I just didnt get a job because a possession charge showed up from years ago. The guy that gave me the interview said it wouldnt be a problem he has 2 D.U.I.s. Well the day before I started I received a phone call saying that its against there policy to hire anyone who has been convicted in the last 7 years. I passed the DR.s exam and drug test already.
I went to alcohol treatment for a drug charge. I learned there that alcoholics kill people. They made us watch videos of drunks getting in accidents. So this guy is a supervisor and I cant be a cook?
The pharmaceutical companies
will never let marijuana be legal, I am not a user of marijuana and am not against anyone who is, but it will be way too much competition for them, and they will not allow it to be legalized. Keep up the great work.
I used to work with a guy
I used to work with a guy who had glaucoma.... the eye drops that the veterans hospital always gave him barely worked at all. He said if he even looked to one side or the other by moving his eyes (without turning his head) he would have terrible pain for a long time. Smoking marijuana was the only thing that helped him, from what he was telling me.
I used to be staunchly
I used to be staunchly against drugs until a smart friend asked me a simple question. He asked me would I do drugs if they were legal. My answer was "no" - but his question made a much larger impact. That's when I stopped believing that drugs had to always be illegal. It's not as if every single adult will run out and begin using drugs the moment they become legal. This friend of mine doesn't even drink alcohol (or do any type of drugs) - I think he simply loves the idea of one day having real freedom in this country as much as we do.
I understand the bad points of drugs and I do not condone their use, but as long as anyone using them does not violate the rights of others - who are we to say that free individuals cannot get high when they want to?
i like to use that one
"He asked me would I do drugs if they were legal."
i like to use that one on people too.
i also like to ask people to explained why the gov. had to pass a constitutional amendment prohibiting alcohol but not other drugs?
the answer is that all drug laws are unconstitutional.

I agree...
the problem is that ~they~ do not think that we have a sense of personal responsibility. Sadly, that is becoming true in America... we increasingly do not have to face any consequences for our actions.
