GOP Crackdown Not Going to Deter Ron Paul Regulars
A crackdown by GOP forces is not going to deter Ron Paul campaigners after being ejected from the 2nd Congressional District convention, the
St Louis website reports.
Ron Paul's local forces came armed with a portable copier and Robert's Rules of Order as they marched Saturday into the cafeteria of Kirkwood High School.
But that wasn't enough to counter the tactics of Republican regulars at the party's 2nd Congressional District convention.
Within minutes, amid a mix of cheers and protests, district GOP leaders disqualified almost half of the convention delegates or alternates — most of them suspected supporters of the Texas congressman's presidential bid.
Ousted delegates included St. Charles County's contingent and some from west St. Louis County. Paul's army of allies had counted on using Robert's Rules of Order, which govern meeting procedures, to mount a takeover. Perched on a back table, the copier whirred as Paul supporters frantically produced copies of the rules list when it became clear that a confrontation was inevitable. Instead, on the orders of convention leaders, angry Paul allies and the copier were escorted out of the cafeteria shortly after the meeting began.

I would like more detail on
I would like more detail on this however this is from the RNC call.
Every state must follow this call or any changes are null and void.
This counters everything they did as far as how to elect delegates.
Rule 15 Election of delegates or alternate delegates
(11) No delegates or alternate delegates or the date upon which such state party holds a presidential primary, caucus, convention, or meeting for the purpose of voting for a presidential candidate and/or selecting delegates to the national convention if such changes were adopted or made effective after the first tuesday in September of the year before the year in which the national conevntion is to be held.
Can someone get me more detail on what actually happened?
Please review this post and watch this video for this is what i have been trying to teach everyone and why we must not stop.

The Rule
The rule they applied was the one calling for only "strong Republicans" to be allowed to participate in caucuses and conventions. There is no further definition in the rule book, as far as I know, so it is open to narrow or generous interpretation. Rich Magee, Mayor of Glendale and chairman of the local Republican Party, attempted to use that rule (but failed) at the local caucus a month ago to eject the Ron Paul precinct captain. That same Mr. Magee was the Chairman of the Kirkwood convention and he apparently succeeded this time.
It looks to me like the Party regulars saw a loophole and they took full advantage.
Is there a way to beat them? Yes. Become a regular attendee at Republican Party functions, speak up, get to know the players. They will have a very hard time claiming you are not a "strong Republican" if you are part of their tribe.
In Missouri
I would LOVE to offer some clarification for everyone.
First, when it comes to the National laws that define who qualifies as a TRUE Republican, in order to be a delegate, it states three rules:
1. Be a registered voter
2. Voted Republican in the Primary
3. Not have voted on another Party ticket in the Primary
Any other rules that a state may want to impose must be printed in September the year before. At our district, they admitted that this did not happen.
Any other "test" or pledge signing and so on, is breaking those rules. Our Credentials committee agreed it was true, and dropped their contests against our delegates, all but one that is.
Second, in Missouri, there were NO standing rules for the convention, so Robert's Rules were the governing rules. They broke those several times. In order to force their rules through without a 2/3 vote. The burden to accept the rules lies on those trying to impose them, they must have a majority vote to set the rules to govern all there. At our convention, they shut the mouths of the minority, and did not allow them to speak. If even one person rejects one rule before it is presented for a vote, then that rule is to be separated and discussed separately. This protects the minority, and is founded in common law, which Robert's Rules and the Constitution are founded on. So, when they violated those governing laws, they violated the Republican way of doing things, and became Democratic, where the majority rules and can shut out the minority.
So, it is clear to me that in Missouri, the Republican majority (or manipulated majority in some districts) have left the common law foundation, and have begun to rule the party like a mob would. By force, through breaking rules, and by silencing the minority.
So what we really have is a face off between those that really want to live in a Republic, and those that give lip service to it but either don't know what it is, or just plain don't care to live what they claim to believe.
Sounds more like the Communist Party instead of
the Republican Party.
Scary very scary !!!!!
We need a movement, not a
We need a movement, not a party. And let's bury this false left-right garbage forever. It is just to divide Americans. Divide and conquer.
Anyone still believe the
Anyone still believe the Republicrat Party is the right way to go?
The parties are rotten from the core out. We need a non-party movement to change the diamatics of how we know elections. Think outside the box.
The Republicrat Party will get us on every procedure rule they can to minimize our try to get us out of their goose-stepping hall.
and every time they tighten their grasp
Fortune Favors the Bold
more people will slip from their fingers.
:) (i kind of stole that quote from something..)
Proud Republican
Yes, I still believe the Republican Party is the way to go! I'm proud to belong to the party of Goldwater, Reagan and Paul. I know that Neocons have taken over the party but they're temporary. The Republican Party at its heart is the party of small government and lower taxes. It is our best bet. Revolutions take time, just as the Neocons didn't take over in 1 election they won't defeated in 1 election.
ERR... Shit like this really
ERR... Shit like this really gets my blood boiling.
They Brought A Copier?
Instead of, say, pre-printed copies of Robert's Rules? Or having RR electronically on their laptops or Blackberries or iPods or flash drives?
Obviously, I am not supportive of targeting delegates for disqualification and ejection because they are Ron Paul supporters (quite the contrary!). However, the (brief and therefore not fully detailed) article does say that the Paul contingent was escorted out shortly after the meeting began. Which causes me to wonder: why, precisely, were they removed, and why so soon?
Depending on the size of the cafeteria, the sounds of a copier whirring and churning, and printed copies being shuffled about and distributed, while a meeting is just getting underway could be rather distracting and disturb the ability of people to hear the Chair or anyone else speaking.
I wasn't there, so I don't know, but, I suspect there is a possibility that these people may have been booted for making undue noise that disrupted the proceedings. If you were holding a meeting and a bunch of people were being noisy and distracting in the back, you might want to eject them, too -- and I would also suspect that there are likely rules in place for just such actions.
These delegates may be dedicated, ardent supporters, but perhaps they didn't think their cunning plan all the way through prior to the event. And, if indeed they were kicked out for disruption, that would be a sad and empty loss for us, practically throwing away those delegate slots.
I'm hoping more of this story comes to light, so we can find out exactly why these delegates were booted and disqualified...
The changes to the agenda
The changes to the agenda were posted only the night before the district Conventions for the entire state. At least that is when word got to all of us, and we had an emergency statewide meeting and it went late.
Everyone did the best they could with the last minute changes to the agenda that essentially were set up in a very hostile way. A convention does not begin until a chairman is elected by the assembly, so basically the temporary chair kicked people out before they even created the convention. EVIL pure evil tactics of force.
You know, I may have figured
You know, I may have figured this out. Every1 likes to rally around a cause. For some reason, the "neocons" have MSM-like convinced many that McCain is NOT a liberal. I do not see how, if his voting record and policy speaking were widely known in these circles, that the MAIN bunch of GOP members could support him. They somehow got the idea (guess how) that RP is a "kook" and other kooks are trying to "take over" the Republican party. This is NOT the truth. No one is trying to take over anything that needs to be defended. Somehow the GOP made it sound like this was occurring. Letters need to be written to all of the individual members of this party. Politely letting them know there is NO takeover planned. The candidate who most SUPPORTS Republican values IS Dr. Paul. Not McCain, which is why all of the friction. In the letter you may make a veiled reference to something like we know that the McCain campaign has spread money around trying to influence people to support him, but his record clearly shows he does not support true GOP principles, and people need to know it. It is from your own patriotic hearts that you can not vote for a liberal like Mc, who sides with Democrats most of the time.
Do a letter. Do a phone tree. Try to get into these people's heads so they question what they have been told. Start the conversation off by APOLOGIZING if anything that you did made them think you were trying to "take over" the party and that that was not your intention. With the apology up front, they may listen. Be polite and do not proselytize.. Just let them know why you were so passionate. Short call.
This is a blatant disregard
This is a blatant disregard for the individual"s right to vote and support whom they choose. We need to hold our own state conventions.
looks
like the revolution needs to start at the convention
How can they just disqualify
a delegate?Does anybody know?
Rules
I'm not from Missouri. My best guess is that they have rules concerning who is eligible to be a delegate, maybe you have to be a registered Republican for more than a year. Hind site is 20/20 but those kind of things should have been checked early in the process. Also we can all learn from this, make sure the people we're putting supporting to be delegates are eligible and make any copies we need before hand.
There was a article a few
There was a article a few months back about beefing up security at conventions. Including buying large amounts of stun guns < http://crashtheconvention...
Most likely bully tactics and threats of arrest but who knows they could just have dragged them out. Its clear you have to be alert and ready to gather evidence when something does happen.
You need to bring to more things to the Conventions!!!
All the Ron Paul people should chip in and pay for a LAWYER and I know this sounds a bit extreme but also a BODYGUARD. Pay them for one days work by having everyone pitch in with a few bucks and then if they try to escort you out and touch you physically you have your lawyer have law suits ready in his hand to deal them out to people trying this and get your bodyguard to kick some ass!
This is USA! You cannot let them treat you like this! Skip the bodyguard but BRING A LAWYER! If anyone tries to physically touch you, your lawyer should inform them of the consequences, that is the fact that you will sue him for every cent he has!
This is BS!
Who are they to "escort" party members out of a building? Did they actually physically touch people?

Pretty damn pathetic that
Pretty damn pathetic that people would need to bring an attorney with them in order to have their rights not violated by "fellow" members of an organization in which they are members. I think the old guard is starting to realize the party is going to have to change or disappear completely. They can't stand the thought of new blood and people that actually believe in the Constitution and our rights. They just devise any plan they can to continue with the old status quo. It is no wonder change (peaceful revolution) is so hard to accomplish!
