I often wonder about folks who take military and paramilitary state jobs and so become willing agents of the Police States of America. Most that I have met simply desire a reasonably paying job for what they feel they can do. Some actually believe they're working for "freedom" or some other abstraction...
But who would be a prison guard at a FEMA concentration camp? It occurs to me that the ever growing prison population is a ripe recruiting ground for FEMA concentration camp guards.
He claims that the quality of the military is declining. The Navy always had higher standards, but now it is getting harder to keep discipline, since with ex-cons some time in the brig doesn't mena much. He says he is leaving the navy soon because of it.
Felony waivers were used when I joined during the 70s. Had a Master Sergeant that had not only a felony waiver when he joined, but was convicted in 3 separate felony courts martial while in Vietnam. The military and felons is nothing new.
Even when I was in high school (you know, before the wheel) judges were giving people the option of going to jail or joining the military.
So what's new about this? You have to admit, it would cut down on the cost of keeping them in prison AND they would be serving a purpose AND they might learn some responsibility in the bargain.
Those felons just might direct their pent-up anger and anti-social behaviors more readily towards their fellow citizens than typical military might. They've (likely) already proven their disregard for their neighbor; hence the "felon" status. (Yes, yes, I know; not every felon earned the jail time. I'm going with the general bad-guy felon profile, here.)
However, those who have served honorably in our military get slapped with permanent restrictions from operating firearms due to diagnosed psychological illnesses...
I know there aremany iraq vets who had NO business being in the military. Some do indeed look at going to Iraq as a way to vet their sociopathic tendencies without consequence.
Also very troubling is the efforts of WP nationalists to inform their members how to talk to military recruiters without raising red flags.
There has also been reports of US gang graffiti appearing in Baghdad, as former gang members hope to make contacts via the military for drug smiggling (as happened in the Iran-contra scandal and continues to happen in Plan Columbia and Afghanistan)
This is certainly not the military as a whole, but it is just another hidden "cost" of maintaining our empire.
Some show called Gangland, on the History Channel, had and entire episode on how gang members are getting into the military, etc. They showed photos of the graffiti in Iraq military bases, had footage of parties on or near US military bases that were held by the gangs, etc. There was even video footage during the show of some robbery where the thief had some sort of rifle and appeared to be using military tactics - turned out the guy was recently out of the marines.
the videos of the soldier laughing as he threw a puppy dog off a cliff and soldiers driving around laughing at the poor disfigured children? These are sociopaths looking for an excuse to commit crimes and behave reprehensibly.

The Commander and chief
is a felon. with resolutions made if he goes into certain counties, the president and VP are to be arrested.
They've been doing it for years . . .

On the other hand
