RP in San Diego 5/23/08

Tomorrow, Friday May 23rd, YOU can meet Ron Paul in person at the San Diego book signing and freedom rally! (And, for a hefty donation, you can go to the preceding brunch.)

Yes, it's raining. Yes, it's expected to rain Friday. Yes, we're Southern California wimps when it comes to rain. WE DON'T CARE. We're going anyway!!!!

(Go ahead and laugh at us, you non-So Cal people. We know we're rain wussies. At least we're "man enough" to admit it!) ;)

Just happen to be in So Cal for the weekend. Can't wait!

I'm a 4th generation San Diegan and I wouldn't miss it for the world! The US Grant is a great old hotel that has been recently renovated. Mike Benoit and crew have done an awesome job with the SD meetup, and Mike is getting some well deserved publicity for his run as the LP 53rd district congressional candidate against Duncan Hunter, Jr. I believe the book signing is at City Hall, and hopefully copies of Dr. Paul's book will be finding their way into the hands of as many city officials as possible (San Diego isn't exactly known as a *uh* fiscally responsible city...)

I am pumped up for this!!!

I've got my whole family heading down with books in hand, plus a friend driving down from Irvine, 90 miles away, to go with us. We run the entire gamut of generations of patriots, from my nephew of 18 who will be voting in his first election, to my friend John who dragged an oxygen bottle behind him and sat in his wheel chair on street corners waving Ron Paul signs. I'm sure hoping to get a picture taken with the good Dr. I'll try to take a video and post it.

The only problem is that I still haven't been able to get a copy of the book! I was told at both Barnes and Noble and Borders that they would be receiving a large shipment of the books and they would call me when they came in, but neither of the two chains have called me back a week and a half later.

I hear they can't print them fast enough!

This is definitely still on, Friday at noon at San Diego City Hall; this is listed on the HQ website (under "Upcoming Events" in the left sidebar). You can also get details about this event here.

Prior to the book signing, there is now also a fund raising brunch taking place at the U.S. Grant Hotel in SD at 10:15am. So if you'd like to nosh with the doc (and have $200 to donate), go here to get the details and buy tickets.

Sadly, I won't be at the brunch...I'll be spending my $$$ towards gas to get there (!) but I will definitely be at the book signing. If you spot someone with Mickey Mouse earrings, ask if they're FanOfWalt. :)
