Prominent PA GOP Party Members Sue GOP Delegates
Questionable Lawsuit May Result In Criminal Consequences for Prominent PA GOP Party Members
Philadelphia, PA – April 22, 2008 – Chaos ensued in Philadelphia today as 2 prominent Pennsylvania GOP party members filed suit against 8 other GOP delegates. The case, filed by the lawfirm of McNichol, Byrne & Matlawski, P.C., was brought on behalf of Barbara Harvey of Broomall, PA and Alana Cervino of Springfield, PA, both prominent GOP supporters. The suit was brought against GOP Alternate Delegate Rick Lacey also names several other GOP candidates including David K Walter, Michael P. Boyle, Peter J. Manfra, Ryan Hodinka, John Savastio, John Pedley, Bernie Strain, Mike Noonan, and Marianne Loughran. Though none of the defendants were officially endorsed by the Pennsylvania GOP, all were Republican Party members running for Republican Party seats, and most if not all seem to be supporters of Presidential Candidate Ron Paul.
The official complaint alleges that sample ballot cards printed by the candidates violated campaign finance laws since the cards were not paid for by a political action committee. It is however common knowledge that campaign materials distributed for the purpose of securing a party seat are not subject to the campaign finance laws of a candidate seeking public office.
Though an injunction was granted to the plaintiff’s, a Delaware county Judge quickly reversed the decision after the error was brought before the court early Tuesday morning. The reversal was not quick enough however as Delaware county sheriffs improperly confiscated ballots from polls where they were being handed out, and promptly destroyed them without authorization.
Though the Ron Paul Campaign has not officially responded to the suit, state co-coordinators for the Ron Paul campaign and defendants have said that they are taking the incident seriously and are considering further legal action against the plaintiffs. They further stated that while a course of action had not been determined, they would not rule out filing criminal charges in the case.

At last night's weekly meeting, we all agreed we are going to fight the GOP MACHINE on this.......
This, however, is going to take a lot of $$$..... and frankly, we do not have the coin!!!!!!

I ran against Barbara Harvey and her husband for committee-person in 4th ward, 2nd precinct of Marple Twp. (which includes Broomall). I'm not quite sure how prominent she is but she takes orders from above fairly well. I and my running-mate were served with the court-order early in the morning and had our sample ballots confiscated, along with others all over Marple Twp. at other voting places. Barbara said she was told to go through with it and she had a few invalid excuses as to why it had to be done. One of them was that Rick Lacey was on the sample ballots. The entrenched GOP establishment in Delaware County is strong but they are afraid of Rick Lacey and the upstart Republican competition. They paid $3000 to take out a full-page ad in a local newspaper slamming Mr. Lacey... and he was only running as an alternate delegate!
It was also discovered after polls closed that both of my precinct's voting machines (electronic but not touch-screen... the ones with the buttons & red LEDs) were found to have malfunctioned. One spit out a ton of extra tape (It gave results though and I have no real reason to believe the GOP results were wrong although exit polling wasn't conducted here), but the other one was found to have jammed early in the day. I don't know why we couldn't have discovered that when it happened, but at the end of the day the results tape printed everything condensed on a black bar that was unreadable because of the jam.
I could go on forever about my first experience at the polls since I was in the belly of the beast, but I'm at work right now so it will have to wait.
oh yeah...
the court order had two examples of the sample ballots which were claimed to have been illegal. Both of them were from other wards, and didn't show the actual sample ballots I had in my hands, which depicted my running-mate and me (running for local committee-person). So in my case they confiscated the wrong sample ballots. Rep. Greg Vitali, whom I had the privilege of meeting that morning, witnessed everything and read through the court order with me and helped me out.

I don't understand how all these things can go on which obviously affect elections and nominations and the whole process can continue forward. The voting process is obviously seriously compromised.

Get A Pre-Paid Legal Plan
I subscribe to a pre-paid legal plan (it's like insurance for lawsuits) and I'd recommend the same for all Ron Paul Delegates just in case the Non-Paul hacks file frivolous lawsuits against all of us.
