Are subsidies unconstitutional?
At our county convention, one of the planks in the platform included a proposal to eliminate all subsidies. Then at the next district convention, that plank had disappeared but there was a new one that proposed that "limiting government subsidies to farms be capped at $250,000 per year per farming operation. Non farm entities should not be subsidized."
In Ron Paul's new book, he introduces me to the term legal plunder. Wouldn't subsidies of any kind be legal plunder?.... Robbing one portion of our population to benefit another.
A month or so, all you knowledgeable people informed me that Ron Paul believed that eliminating earmarks for a year was the wrong thing to do. It was hard for me to take in.The explanation was that it just transfered money to the executive branch. And sure enough Ron Paul addressed this in his new book.
So anyway, in regard to my question on subsidies I'm hoping you all can teach me once again. Are any or all subsidies unconstitutional? If so, wouldn't this be important enough to fight for or are there "bigger fish to fry"? (I live in farm country.)

TEACH A MAN TO FISH
Ron Paul appreciates the political diplomacy summed up in the phrase “ bigger fish to fry “. He acknowledges that if we change our foreign policy we can better afford the domestic policies which have encouraged dependency while we wean ourselves back to free market self sufficiency which is morally and practically best.
But it is never too soon to study and advocate for an understanding of what is best and true policy.

I found this about farm subsidies in America:
http://farm.ewg.org/sites...
I know Dr. Paul thought
of slowly getting out of these subsidies, etc. I am sure they are unconstitutional. It is spending taxpayer dollars on individuals. Just for a little info here, where we live in farm and ranch country, there is a website I saw where one can look up the individual people and corporations who get subsidies for each county. We looked it up and saw someone we know, who is a multi millionaire rancher, who receives approxiimately 68,000 a year in subsidies from the government, last year because we were in a drought. Now, this person isn't hurting, obviously, and yet qualifies for subsidies?
