My favorite "news" article so far! "Ron Paul tops McCain"

[Note: Either Ron Paul has tripled in popularity in the past 2 months, or the voting machines vaporized a hell of a lot of votes in Washington!]

What’s this? Ron Paul tops McCain?

Friday, April 25, 2008
By GREGG HERRINGTON, Columbian editorial writer
The Columbian, Clark County, Washington

Some weird things happened at last Saturday’s Clark County Republican convention at Prairie High School, where it was demonstrated that democracy is too important to be left to party activists.

Weird item 1 — Paul prevails: Arizona Sen. John McCain, who will be the Republican presidential nominee and who was the choice of local voters in the Feb. 19 Washington presidential primary, was left in the dust by Congressman Ron Paul of Texas, the anti-Iraq war, anti-tax, anti-big government libertarian.

Highly motivated and disciplined Paul supporters outnumbered McCain forces and thus will send more delegates to the state convention in Spokane next month. Never mind that in the statewide primary two months ago McCain carried Clark County with 44 percent of the Republican votes to 27 percent for Mike Huckabee and 20 percent for Mitt Romney, with Paul getting just 6.5 percent.

The votes that counted at the local convention were based on the Feb. 9 precinct caucuses, and on Saturday it was Paul’s people who showed up.

“McCain people weren’t interested in spending a whole Saturday afternoon indoors at a convention,” said Brent Boger, a McCain backer who was there.

Getting a final and official tally from the local GOP leaders was impossible this week. Even new county chairman Ryan Hat said he didn’t know the numbers. But, based on estimates of several who had leadership roles Saturday, it’s clear that Paul outpolled McCain by a substantial margin overall. Most of that margin was built among participants from the 18th Legislative District of north and far east Clark County, where Paul forces captured between 25 and 28 of the 30 delegate slots bound for the state convention.

“The Ron Paul people were organized and had done their homework,” said veteran party activist Kathy McDonald.

Paul’s forces big in Spokane, too

If local Republicans are mortified by the thought of the county party sending more Paul delegates than McCain delegates to the state convention, they can take solace knowing what happened at the Spokane County GOP convention was even weirder.

The Paul forces “ate McCain’s lunch,” a Spokane reporter told me, vastly outnumbering them and pushing through a get-out-of-Iraq-fast plank in the local party platform. That must be a real hit at state GOP headquarters and at the altar of pre-emptive war in the White House.

Dr. Paul cured my apathy

Why you ask?.......Well

Why you ask?.......Well Because Ron Paul supporters are passionate of their leader and they will go to hell and back for him !!!and they also believe in this country(U.S.A)and they don't want anyone taking it away from them!!!.....They are striking while the Iron's hot!!!, and nothing could get in their way and no one could stop them either..."It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog that counts"....We could feel the heat rising up our backs, and we don't like it, we could see the suffering in this world and we know something aint right, and we could sense things are going to get worst and thats why we have to fight..For all you true Ron Paul supporters out there, come on let's show them what we are made of...("This fights is not over yet!!!",let's get them." )

Numbers

In God We Trust!

McCain, I am told has a number of houses that he owns. This is good news because seeing that he will not be occupying the White House, at least he will not be homeless!
There, now don't ya'll feel better?

Yay Thank you for the good news

Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips

Ron Paul Beats McCain

He also thumped him, pummelled him, bludgeoned him, kicked his sorry traitor/commie ass, ate his lunch, clotheslined him, spanked him, crushed him, and, with one arm tied behind his back, bitch-slapped him all the way to the Canadian border. There, I feel better.

I feel better just reading

I feel better just reading your post!!!

Thanks. I got a good belly laugh from your comment.

That was rich. :)

ha ha! and

And he's been doing so all throughout the primaries -- except now we're finally getting the real body count! The truth comes out.

Dr. Paul gets some R-E-S-P-E-C-T

don't forget to diggggg

I have not found very many

I have not found very many McCrap supporters in my fine state. If they did vote for him, they are embarrassed to admit it.

I still have my Ron Paul bumper sticker on my car and I get several cars waving and honking at me every day.

The Revolution will be televised because Dr. Paul will be the nominee.

Ive heard McStain, McSame, McInsane-

etc etc etc...but McCrap! Thats a breathe of fresh air- thats my new fave. Dosnt try to rhyme, but rather stays pertinent by remaining in tune in the key of "Mc". Crap says so much and excuses the absense of a rhyme. "McPoo" would be a scoshe subtle and something as bold as "McSh*t", while no doubt would be appropriate in many circumstances, is probably a bit crass in general and may bring too much to the role. As for me and my house- we will henceforth be counted as McCrap opponents. Thank you Ohioan : )

Hey, if the diaper fits....

I just soiled myself reading that- "Another Depends, Mr. President?"

General Comment about Some of these Threads

"Verbal bullying: calling someone names for things they can't help. Verbal bullying is a personal attack and not relevant to the issue at hand.

There are plenty of reasons why McCain is a poor choice for president. His physical ailments are not very high on the list. His mental condition, to the extent he can't help it, he can't help. It's like calling a dog "stupid" because it can't read: not really fair.

Also, I always think it's in poor taste to make jokes about a person's name. For one thing, would you think better of them if they changed the name they were born with, perhaps hurting the parent who gave it to them? And, if it's a joke, do you think they haven't heard it before?

We see all the headlines about what bullying leads to. I just think we should focus on the actual problems with these candidates, and not descend to name-calling.

I can't imagine Ron Paul doing it, even though he's been a victim of it.

IMissLiberty

IMissLiberty,

I share your concerns and entirely concur with your perception of the aforementioned post. Though looking at the "Big" picture. Its my view that, related activities award the noted responses. I believe it to be unhealthy to constrain such emotions. As I'm sure your aware, people "vent" in unique fashion(s). I or you may perform otherwise. I enjoyed the exuberance of the reply. I would like to thank you though, for your opinion as well as the one of the reply mentioned. "Onward"

party pooper

altho I actually agree with your sentiments about "verbal bullying," the truth is that my dog is smarter than McCain and would make a much better president.

However, McCain lives in much more beautiful houses than my dog, so I think he's doing quite well for himself, with or without verbal plays on his name. And you've got to agree that, although not politically correct or kind, calling someone McSoil is pretty darn funny

Great Article!

Don't let it go to your head

We all need to still work hard! Remember we are fighting the system....

not fighting....

but becoming...

Don't fight City Hall - become City Hall.

We are the Republicans...... (because they have ceased to be Republicans a long time ago).....

Go Ron Paul......

oh, I WILL

let it go to my head.

We all need hope and encouragement while still working hard. I've been reading articles every day for months and this one is the first "professional" that didn't call Ron Paul any derogatory names & actually says he "beat" McCain.

and please comment & digg -- this is a true victorious article written by a "real" journalist with no bad things to say!

wewt!

we owe a debt of gratitude to Katja and her husband Micheal Delevar http://delavarforcongress... for their tireless effort in helping us. Clark Co WA is Ron Paul country!

that is great

Was this the same turnout as for voting? I was joking, but has Ron Paul tripled in popularity there since February -- the voting machines only reported 6% for Ron Paul...???

Im embarassed to admit I dont know.

I can tell you though that we do have the option of using the electronic machine or paper ballots. I just couldnt imagine anyone well-researched enough to vote for Ron Paul actually opting to use diebold. Around town I saw more Ron Paul lawn signs and attended overpass banners than any other candidate- and Kucinich was holding his own with all the others. We did really well for our primary- but honestly I felt I thought we'd have had better results. As much as Id like to think we had more votes than were reported-in fairness I think its pretty straight. Im tickled that we are stickin' to our guns out here : ))

Good for you and thanks!

but the reported total of 6% compared to McCain's 44% is just unbelieveable to me after reading about this massive turnout. Even with paper ballots, it's all up to who's actually counting and reporting the vote total.

With actual human bodies, though, it's a different story. I think we're finally starting to see the *actual* number of Ron Paul supporters after being so disappointed in the primary "results."

And it's big. It's really big.

This is true- he who COUNTS the votes...

I like to think that since the primary I have personally brought a number of people to the cause (some may be shining me on to shut me up lol- but the seeds are planted) so it wouldnt surprise me a bit if rather than losing numbers we've gained quite a few since McCain's "presumed nomination"- the thought that McCain could be our next commander in cheif may have scared a bunch of us straight lol.

Scared straight

hahahah I love it!! Scared straight.... STRAIGHT away from the straight talk express.

Good article and McInsane is not the nominee YET and will not be if we can prevent it.
