Conservatism: An Obituary
Capitalism in not the system of the past; it is the system of the future—if mankind is to have a future.
Those who wish to fight for it must discard the title of “conservatives.”
“Conservatism” has always been a misleading name, inappropriate to America.
Today, there is nothing left to “conserve”: the established political philosophy, the intellectual orthodoxy, and the status quo are collectivism.
Today, the fighters for capitalism have to be, not bankrupt “conservatives”, but new radicals, new intellectuals and, above all, new, dedicated moralists.
Philosophy has been divorced from politics from too long...Just look where the anti-ideologies "conservatism" and "liberalism" have gotten us...
Any defenders of conservatism want to step up to the plate?

Try "Classical Liberalism"
Locke, Paine, Jefferson, Emerson...

C.L. is superior to conservatism and liberalism
in my opinion. However, is it built on a philosophical principle?
If it is, I can't name it...
Bump any challengers to defend C.L.?
I am interested to see a defense of the ideology.
Semantics
are used by propagandists to keep things confused so that understanding anything is near impossible.
And nowhere has that
And nowhere has that obfuscation been greater than with the word "conservative".
Runaway federal spending is not conservative.
Racking up trillion dollar deficits is not conservative.
Institutionalizing fiat money that has no value is not conservative.
Committing US money and resources to support the United Nations is not conservative.
Leveraged trade agreements with Communist nations like China are not conservative.
Rewarding failed corporations with bailout money from fleeced taxpayers is not conservative.
Legislating morality is not conservative.
Betraying the original intent of the constitution is not conservative.
Destroying the Fourth Amendment is not conservative.
Suspending habeas corpus is not conservative.
The progressive Income Tax is not conservative.
Wars of aggression are not conservative.

Conservatism is has no philosphical backbone as far as I
can tell.
I've have never been able to determine its (as well as liberalism's) underlying axiom.
If it has one, what is it?
the words
Fortune Favors the Bold
roughly mean:
conservatism: One who wants to maintain the status quo
liberalism: one who wants to progress society
there is no axiom
Fortune Favors the Bold
because the above two definitions are so loose as to be interpretable for any philosophy
"We steal and kill with God
"We steal and kill with God on our side"?

Haha...
Zing!

I think it's important that people, including Ron, jettison the term 'conservative' for the reasons that Rand outlined.
