Lawyers: 2 sect kids missing

CORPUS CHRISTI - A Corpus Christi attorney representing two mothers
from the Schleicher County polygamist retreat raided this month says
that child welfare authorities cannot account for two boys.

The boys, ages 16 months and 11 years, were part of a group of more
than 400 removed from their parents' custody this week and bused to
foster homes across the state. The last groups left Friday.

State child welfare authorities responded that no children have been
lost, but family relationships are muddled, hence the need for genetic
testing to determine them.

Court documents indicate that nine of the children were to be placed
at the Ark Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter for Youth in Corpus
Christi. Late Friday, two buses arrived at the center and children
were escorted in.

Calls to the shelter after the children arrived were not returned, and
the number of children being housed could not be confirmed.

Rebecca Flanigan of Corpus Christi, with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid,
said the children are not on any of the state's placement lists. She
said Child Protective Services has not returned her phone calls or
e-mails on the issue.

"They haven't been spirited away," Flanigan said. "They have not been
accounted for. Not on any one of CPS's placement lists. We don't know
where they are, nor do they know."

Patrick Crimmins, a spokesman for the Department of Family and
Protective Services, said he was not aware of any unaccounted-for
children.

"Each of the children has an attorney," Crimmins said, "as do many of
the parents."

He said the department has had difficulty determining several
parent-child relationships, but that parents will have the opportunity
for visitation as soon as the children arrive in foster care.

Flanigan said four mothers she represents want to know where their
children are because each expects to move to a city where she can be
near them. Those efforts have been hampered because many of the
mothers have not been told where their children have been taken. One
of her clients has seven children going to four cities.

"These are toddlers who in a few weeks' time will not know who their
mothers are because they've been taken from them," Flanigan said.
"When you get sucked into this bureaucracy, you really don't know who
is in charge, and who will influence the decision to reunite these
children with their moms."

Flanigan is one of three Corpus Christi attorneys from Legal Aid who
traveled to the Concho Valley to help.

"It was a cry for help. We got in our cars and headed out," said Errol
Summerlin, deputy director of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid.

Flanigan also has filed a motion to an appeals court in Austin,
seeking to overturn proceedings held April 17-18 in which a judge
decided the fate of the sect's children en masse. She specifically
seeks a proceeding in which each family has an opportunity to deny
abuse individually.

"It's a nightmare, a parent's worst nightmare," Flanigan said, "to
have their children taken without a fair opportunity for the court to
hear their case individually and explain the danger and risk was that
compelled the removal of their children, and to explain how it could
possibly be in their children's best interest."

Fear

Any parent whose little one has accidently slipped away from them at the grocery store will know the extreme fear that often occurs upon realizing their child is not next to them. The mind runs through every conceivable bad outcome at breakneck pace, as the parent calls up and down the aisles, searching for the wayward child, until finally finding him just a minute later, perhaps looking at a coloring book or at the bubble gum machines.

Now, imagine your child has been placed on a bus headed to unknown destinations, and you later find out that no one who is charged with your child's care even knows where your child is. The children could be anywhere. Your mind wanders into scenarios that no parent should ever have to think of.

Being separated from one's children is hard enough, but this just goes beyond heart-breaking.

I hope these two children are safe tonight and that their parents will find them soon.

THIS IS SO INSANE.... IT IS TIME TO GO HUNT THIS JUDGE

AND END HIS/HER JUDGESHIP!!! WHAT MORE DO WE NEED???

FOR THEM TO COME AFTER OUR CHILDREN???

AND THEN DO NOTHING SOME MORE???

hurry everyone lets go do nothing...lets get mad and do nothing.....

FUCK THAT ...YA I KNOW I SAID IT. THIS IS BEYOND RAGE THIS IS THE HEART AND SOUL OF AMERICA ...WHEN THE STATE TAKES CHILDREN FOR FALSE PRETENSES ITS OVER---GAME OVER----

WHAT --WILL/WOULD--ANY--OF--YOU--BE---WILLING--TO--DO--NOW!!!!!!!

I agree. These judges need

I agree. These judges need to be held accountable by whatever means and make them fear the people who entrusted them with the power they have and are abusing. They think they are untouchable. They need to be taught differently.

Whats the best approach???

I have heartfelt respect for the caring individuals whom have predominately embraced this situation. As I step back and attempt to conclude a viewpoint absent of all bias, I find it difficult to declare a concrete opinion. I say this with a laymen's knowledge of the US Constitution and heightened ignorance of Texas state law. Off the cuff, I'd say the onslaught of the prosecuting authorities' in such gross capacity was grievous at minimum. Looking at the Constitution's prescription with regard to [Freedom Of Religion]. What definition did the authors of our Constitution have in mind at that time? When recording that significant article and declaration. Religion by definition is a belief. So does this declaration authorize an individuals "Freedom" to do as they believe if they proclaim that it is their Religion? Where do we draw the line? We look too our States first to draw the lines by legislative authority, based on constitutional authority? Do Religions' have the constitutional authority to take a life, by refusing medical intervention or performing physical sacrifice? To me personally, for whom sincerely cherishes human life, I have my individual opinion's, for thats all I have a right to. Are there people who share the same opinions? I'm confident there is. Are there people who disagree or oppose my opinions? I'm confident there is. Would I like to have my children live in a sanctuary, such as the one in TX, no. I additionally feel as though I individually have no right to tell those parents residing in this sacred sanctuary how to nurture their offspring. I remember as an adolescent, my older sister had a dear friend who was approximately 24 years old, whom was allowed to pass away, because her religion forbid her to accept a blood transfusion. I'll bring this to a close, but I'd just like to say. I will make a conscious effort to address my my beliefs, that the extreme action of the Texas authorities was unwarranted and an abuse of power. Although when do I ignore my duty to defend the constitutional obligation of protecting human life? When do I defend the constitutional right to individual liberty and allow another person to take their own or with assistance from a person such as Jack Kovorkian or be it by religion, drugs or at their own accord? Well Thats my 2 cents :-)

What a mistake

I have spent the last 45 minutes looking through the comments on the gosanangelo site noted in the OP. That was a mistake. My jaw hurts from dropping so much, and I physically lose my breath reading comments from people who are so gung-ho and fully support the judge and CPS.

For example, here; read this comment by "Wendyjo" --

"Them there tykes are more than likely more resilient than most. They've been raised to call any woman and any man they see as their Ma and Pa. Even though they are in a new environment, a new Ma and Pa shouldn't catch them by surprise or cause them undue distress.

The new environment will do them good. Everybody needs a change in environment to stimulate their minds and bodies. The children will obviously benefit from their experiences as long as their caregivers meet their needs and assist to make their feelings positive events."

Yes, you read that right.
"Everybody needs a change in environment to stimulate their minds and bodies."
"The children will obviously benefit from their experience..."

Does this attitude reflect the majority of people out there? Seriously, I'm asking. Those of you who still get MSM television, and chat with friends who are devoted to the Oprah book club -- is this the typical response of the majority?

If so, then, oh, man, our country is SO doomed. Put a fork in us.

I can no longer stomach reading comments

on the mainstream media sites. I get sick, angry, disgusted, and depressed. I get the feeling we are so far beyond redemption as a country, that nothing we do will ever matter. I sure hope I am wrong about that, but the vast majority of my fellow U.S. citizens are not doing much to build my faith in them.

No one knows what to

No one knows what to do...the Gallup polls indicate a very disgusted populace, but people are too afraid of the government, in my opinion, to even think outside the box.

Conspiracy thinking just exacerbates the problem by making the enemies of our constitution seem all-powerful. They are not; in point of fact, most of them are people of very mediocre intelligence, like our president. We need to stop ascribing every blunder, debacle, and disaster to some masterful Chess move on their part that's been on the drawing table for years.

For example, people are already saying the economic collapse we are seeing unfold before us was deliberate, and they are abandoning the dollar so they could push through the Amero system. Ridiculous. They are abandoning the dollar because they who don't give a damn about the fate of this country, and the economy is collapsing because their puerile knowledge of economics is almost on a par with their understanding of foreign policy. Much that appears preplanned is often attributable to stupidity.

If Bush pooped his pants in public on national television, ten conspiracy buffs on the Internet would rush forward saying that it was prerehearsed, and he was promoting new adult diapers that would be secretly implanted with computer chips, and mass-distributed from Mexico on the NAFTA Superhighway.

Kevin, you identified the problem

We have become so accustomed to being taken care of by the nanny state, that when a problem occurs, we expect the government to fix it. Even if the problem is the government itself! We as a population have almost completely forgotten there are other ways to solve problems besides empowering government. We have tunnel vision and the only light we see at the end is emanating from the all-knowing, all-benevolent government.

As long as the only choice people think they have is the government, we are screwed. What's doubly sickening about this is how quickly the tide has turned. People used to rely on themselves and took pride in solving problems and enacting solutions on their own. Now they just vote for whomever can promise a government solution to every problem. Until we can break this mindset, we will have a very tough time convincing people of what sorts of real solutions exist.

LOL, Kevin

Thanks for bringing up a really good point. I do not believe everything is a conspiracy. But I do know that rotten people of doubtful intelligence often scheme their way into positions of power so they can benefit from the way things are. But many of the stooges on the front lines aren't bright enough to conspire to tie their shoes.

That's absolutely true. I'm

That's absolutely true.

I'm not politically sympathetic to Michael Moore, but I enjoyed "Fahrenheit 911" because of the way it realistically depicted the elites in Washington. Remember the shot of Wolfowitz sticking a pocket comb in his mouth and combing his hair with spittle?

These people are idiots.

Double Post

This site acts strange now. Really difficult to post now--always errors involved.

....

SHOCKING! Imagine what's

SHOCKING!

Imagine what's going through these kids minds, especially that 11 year old?

The US military created Timothy McVeigh.

I wonder what these foster homes will spawn?

The state is now talking

The state is now talking about ‘emotional’ abuse. Hopefully it’s just me being paranoid, but alleging crimes obviating need to show any physical evidence whatsoever, scares me in a truly Kafkaesque way. I also worry who these poor people’s ‘peers’ will be if any of this ever goes to jury trial.

If the state gets away with this

it will be so precedent setting that there will henceforth be NOTHING they can't get away with. This wholesale violation of numerous natural and constitutional rights is a test case, mark my words. This is a test for similar operations on a wider scale.

This month its a few hundred Mormon polygamists. Next year maybe a few thousand Ron Paul supporters. The following year, maybe a few hundred thousand home schoolers and non-vaccinators. Each of these groups can legitimately be accused of teaching their children that the state is not all powerful, and that sort of teaching, in this age, is the deadliest sin of all. Teaching your children a healthy dose of skepticism with relation to the powers that be could be considered emotional abuse and anti-social brainwashing.

This country is screwed if we let the state of Texas get away with this.

Yes

They have gotten away with too much...this is the last straw. We all know it is based on lies. Their compound is on land that needs to be confiscated for the NAFTA superhighway. People...wake up! Do the research before it is too late!

I'm in absolute shock over this...

This could be the thing that pushes Americans over the edge. I AM OUTRAGED BY THIS TRAVESTY!!!! This is seriously starting to piss me off more than words can express....

MY GOD!! I'M REALLY PISSED ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Righteous Indignation!!!

May it spread over us all. We should all be enraged, shocked, pissed off, and mad as hell over this. If we don't have it in our hearts to be any or all of these things, then we may be beyond redemption as a country.

Good for you, Robyne. Be angry. And even better, not only be angry, but tell all your friends and all others in your sphere of influence how outraged you are. Help give your friends and family the push they need to go over the edge. This event could be the one that either wakes people up or that proves we as a nation are forever lost, for if the state can get away with stealing an entire community's children, then there is literally NOTHING they cannot get away with. Period.

FANTASTIC POINT!!!!ALASKA RON!!!!

WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR ANGER AT THIS POINT???? TELL OTHERS AND GET THEM ANGRY ...COPY THESE POSTS , THEN PRINT THEM THEN CALL YOUR FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBER AND TELL THEM YOU ARE COMING OVER TO TALK....THEN SHOW UP AND TELL THEM WHATS GOING ON , THEN SHOW THEM THE NEWS POSTS ON THIS TOPIC ....GET THEM ANGRY...AND REPEAT THIS UNTIL EVERYONE YOU KNOW IS ON YOUR SIDE ON THIS ONE ISSUE..... BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THERE ARE PEOPLE OF POWER THAT ARE NOT CORRUPT...THESE PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHATS GOING ON BECAUSE WE HAVE A LAME ASS MEDIA THAT IS NOT LONGER ALLOWED TO DO THEIR JOB DUE TO THEIR MASTERS THAT ARE ALSO CORRUPT.....

SO ITS UP TO US TO DO THEIR JOB.......WAKE UP THE PEOPLE LET THEM KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING IN TEXAS!!!!

Those dirty #&*@@!*&^$^%#*&^@*$*#)(*%(*#S!!!!!!

The only applicable response I have to this information is a heinous stream of complex obscenities. And it instantly brings Jday's post to mind.

This event is so outrageous

that it calls for the invention of heretofore unknown obscenities. The state and-- by virtue of their validation or inaction-- the majority of the American people including the media puppets have heaped upon themselves certain judgment for the grievous offenses committed against these children and their families.

I have learned so much in

I have learned so much in the last year. Most of it is terrible. It is true that once you awaken there is no going back to sleep. I am beginning to think there aren't enough people to correct all the horrible injustices. We need more Ron Pauls.

But Isn't It Worth It?

We are told, over and over again, that "If it saves just one child from a predator, then no price is too high to pay." That, I think, is the very (flawed) guiding foundation of the Precautionary Principle, and it leads inevitably to corrupt results like these.

Again: "If it saves just one child, then no price is too high!" Really? Even if the cost is TWO children?

Response, please? CedarMill? moonslippers? Anyone?

This is why PREEMPTIVE action

in War or on the people is wrong. There should be a pattern (with CLEAR evidence) before action like this should ever be taken.....

Remember, Prof, that most of these CPS workers and

the sheep who follow them probably received their entire mathematics education in modern public schools. For these people, 2>1, or viewing the current equation as a net loss of 1, does not compute.

They better pray

that they find them.....

Oh, my dear lord

this is so sick. Those poor parents and children how awful.

Anyone who can explain to me how this

Is a 'protective service' for these children is LYING. This is a disgrace, and the next time the state comes and tries to take my children for ANY reason, they WILL be repelled by force of arms.

This is ridiculous and should not be allowed in this country. AT ALL.
