Massachusetts to Choose More Delegates to National Convention on May 13

Twenty Massachusetts At-large delegates/alternates (10 each) to the Republican National Convention will be elected on May 13 at the Republican State Committee meeting. The meeting begins at 12:00 noon. A location has not yet been announced.

This is an opportunity to promote candidates favoring small government and fiscal responsibilty as delegates to St.Paul in September.

Although only Republican State Committee (RSC) members (80 statewide) can vote in this election ordinary rank-and-file Republicans can offer themselves as candidates if they are nominated by their local RSC members.

To find out who your local RSC members are you should first locate your state (Mass.) senate district here:
http://www.wheredoivotema...
(Scroll down to 'District Representatives>Senate in General Court' to find your senate district)

and then find your local RSC member here:

Masschusetts has 40 state senate districts and two RSC members (one male and one female ) per district.

For more information or if help is needed to locate your RSC members please contact me at jureneck@comcast.net. I can also be reached at 617 436-0320.

This should be learned and retained as well. It could be the difference between success and failure.

I went to caucus and will be there too!

Everyone please show up, a single person has a huge impact. My district only had 72 people but with 15 RP supporters we never got less than 23 votes! Our platform makes sense and people will turn to our side but we need every RP supporter there. Nobody wants to be alone and gravitates to the crowd, we are that crowd. I respect the folks from Maine but we did not wear buttons or promote Ron Paul, I'm not sure of how that would go.

Any other Mass RP people out there? Should we have a big rally and invite out of state support?? I'm wondering if the folks in Maine have a great idea. Would people chanting Ron Paul in large numbers have an impact?

advice from the Maine convention

I was a delegate here in Maine. It was great to meet Ron Paul supporters from all over the state, and when I left, we were still waiting to here about the alternate delegates. I feel that we had a chance for some of them.

One thing I noticed though, I’d like to share with other people who have upcoming conventions. There are probably some who will disagree with me, but here goes. We had decided to enter the convention incognito, without pins and signs etc. I feel this was a mistake. As soon as we began to don our pins, carry signs, put bumper stickers visibly on bags and our backs, more and more Ron Paul people began to come out of the crowd. Our numbers swelled and it not only created more enthusiasm (Its hard to be enthusiastic when you are silent) but it also showed the McCain people that we had greater numbers than they had thought.

My other observation is, if possible arrange at the conventions to have a Ron Paul video to play up on the screen.(McCain had a 10 minute professional one) The video needs to clearly states his views and his honesty and values. Perhaps the YouTube “Hope for America”

Dr Paul was SO gracious to send our convention a short video thanking us for the support ,that was put up on the video screen. If this had also included some of his bullet points, I think it would have made a difference. My husband and I were approached by several people who were still undecided and a video of that caliber would have helped sway some I am sure!

Good luck to all the future conventions. Hold your head high with pride in your support of Dr. Paul. He is worth every ounce of effort you can muster.

advice...

hi evangeline,
i too was a delegate from here in maine - (and you know who this is.)
i agree. from the get go i wore my ron paul button and there was no way i was taking it off. i wanted people to know i supported dr. paul.
i do not think stealth mode is the way to go. there were alot of mccain people who looked with disdain at my button. and so be it. i was expecting it. there are others who were interested. i say go for it!

as to the video. the video we got by dr. paul was shown "upon recess" to quote the chair. it was extremely unfair. (the vice chair claimed the video took him by surprise also.)
once the video was over it took a few of us basically "badgering" the gop chair and vice chair to get our own video shown and then when it was shown it was to a largely empty room. that was no accident. altho, the gop senator's (heavy mccain party unity speeches) speeches ran into overtime and a candidate who was speaking on stage who was not spouting the party line was cut.
after mccain's video was shown a few of us were frantically going thru
our ron paul dvd's at our booth and looking for a suitable 10 minute clip to show . we submitted the video and it was viewed and turned down by the chair. too controversial they quipped! hq was called and dr. paul made one up targeting maine. i personally felt that it did NOT help us because of how it was done. it needed to be done with thought to content and purpose not a support video for ron paul delegates. i thank dr. paul for doing it but it was NOT what was needed. we could have influenced alot more people had it been different.

so, what i'm saying is wear your ron paul pins, (we even put bumper stickers on our backs), select a video and have it ready to pop in and
basically demand they play it. after all, the doc is running for president and he is a republican.

that's my two cents worth - hope it helps!
