It seems that there is not in fact a meeting of the GOP. I was reporting on what an employee of the casino told me. I am sorry for any inconvenience. In my opinion, it is better to be safe then sorry. I appreciate the vigilance of those who checked it out.

I'm sending this from the Peppermill casino in Reno. Despite reports of activity here today, I've been unable to fnd any evidence of anyone other than angry RP supporters having been here despite having scoured this casino for over 2 hours. The number of people here to resolve this is very encouraging...we know we've won. On the positive side without the RP delegates they cannot gain quorum to overthrow the platform changes passed yesterday, nor to convene with any officiality.
Looking forward to finding out what is going on.

Having called the Peppermill
Having called the Peppermill a number of times today, I understand completely. I never was able to talk with anyone on the phone who could give me an accurate eyewitnesses account of what was going on, so I decided to go down and see.
If they moved to a different location, I can't address that, but I can say that the doors were closed and locked where you enter the Tuscany Ballroom. There were a number of side doors, which I saw yesterday, but I don't know where they lead (service entrances?). Those who were there know the main entrance doors lead to a room between the entrance doors and the main ballroom. Yesterday you entered into that room once you had paid, and there completed your credentialing process. There were also vendors selling fur coats, the RP table, etc.
When I was there this afternoon, the main entrance doors were locked, and I could see through the cracks that the room between those doors and the ballroom was empty and had been reconfigured with room dividers that were not present yesterday. I could not, however see into the main ballroom. If there was a meeting going on in the main ballroom with enough delegates to constitute a quorum (over 700 according to the numbers from last night) I don't believe the main doors to the ballroom would be locked (safety hazard). Also I talked to several employees working the coffee/snack bar near the main ballroom doors and they said that there had been a couple hundred disgruntled people there this morning but there had apparently not been any meeting.
Every indication based on my visit to the Peppermill this afternoon (about 3:15) is that there was no meeting and there was no indication that any meeting had taken place today. I did run into another RP supporter, who had gone down there for reasons similar to mine, and we discussed the situation for a few minutes. That was the closest thing to a meeting that I saw this afternoon.

No apology needed... We're all just trying to do the best we can in a crazy world. By the time I actually decided to go, I was kicking myself because I thought maybe there had been a meeting for several hours and I might have already missed most of it. Glad we at least found out the current status.

It was good to see RP again, both Friday night and yesterday. A few weeks ago it seemed to me that he had completely given up on the presidential bid and was just interested in spreading the message. He said some things yesterday that made me think he might still be entertaining the thought that there is still a possibility that he could win the nomination. This has been quite an amazing ride these last few months, and apparently there is plenty more to come!

Oh... speaking of that... the NV GOP platform we approved yesterday ROCKS.... Leave UN, repeal Patriot Act (boy did bug some of the old-line GOP'ers - heh, heh!), repeal Fed Reserve, less government, less taxes, less regulation and more self determination. And... "we demand that electronic voting only be allowed when uniquely numbered receipts are provided to the voter and results are made publicly available showing simultaneously all votes comprising the total by receipt number." Support of English as official language and US Govt materials in English only. Repeal of national ID card. And much more. Is this good, or what!
I am angry; I am even more energized than I was a few days ago. Carry on the battle in every state everyone - this really is possible. If nothing else, we are having a major impact on the dialog and platforms. They are hearing us and in some quarters I think they are very worried (as they should be). It can be done if we all stay the coruse!

Randy has been posting here occasionally for months, first comtributend to HQ on Nov. 5 and maxed out on the Tea Party in December, has contributed much more to the blimp, NH recount, granny warriors, etc. and who was making preparations to canvass in NH the last 10 days before the primary when he had a bad Skiing accident right before Christmas (still limping, but can walk now).
I can describe in excruciating detail what happened yesterday, and what key people were wearing and saying. I guess I could photo my delegate badge (which has a corner torn off from the voting for the three congressional delegates). I was also precinct captian at our precinct caucus in January which probably is what got me elected as a delegate.
I have also helped many of my friends and relatives come over from the dark side, or at least given some things to think about.
I also have two 1 year old dogs who have been chewing up my house and it's a miracle they are still alive.
I'd show you my national ID card but we told 'em to shove it.
Oh... there was a fire this afternoon in the foothills not far from the Peppermill; you could easily see the smoke from the freeway near the Peppermill and from the Peppermill. Anyone here could verify that.
I had salad and prime rib at the Island Buffet yesterday at the lunch break, and way too many snacks from the coffee/pastry bar right outside the Tuscany Ballroom where we had the meeting.
Oh... At the restricted meeting the night before (Friday) at Wooster HS only verified RP delegates were allowed to enter, and we were given a special wristband which was kind of like a stretched-out US flag. RP arrived after our strategy discussion and spoke briefly. He was very tired (had just been in Idaho) and had to leave to get some sleep so he did not address the larger gathering out in the main Wooster HS gym as had been originally planned.

I question because I have received emails, etc....and calls from people on the meetups and they say it is continuing....I just pray you are one of the good guys and not one of those keeping anyone away from an important meeting. A lot is riding on this and we have had tons of conflicting reports.
I am a member of one of your nevada groups and one of those members who frequents said he can confirm the convention is going on at the Peppermill NOW!! I wish I could be so close to scour the joint. i realize it is a massive building, but if we are getting these kind of reports it is quite confusing.

I understand... no offense taken. There seem to have been a number of shills and troublemakers who have joined the ranks here in recent months.
I was actually eating raw low-fat vegan (lots of fruit and salads) for quite a while, but have slipped back into bad habits. My energy and weight were much better when eating that diet. Seems like when life gets too crazy and stressful it's harder to maintain a good fitness and diet routine, even when you know better.
I sure don't know what's going on with the reports that there is a meeting going on at the Peppermill this afternoon. There were enough comments to that effect that I decided to go down there and I found no indication that anything was going on.
As I said earlier, I could not see directly into the main Tuscany Ballroom, but I could see the large entry room between the ballroom and the large entry doors. The main doors were locked and there was no one in the room between those doors and the ballroom (I looked through the cracks in the doors). I can't imagine that there were over 700 people in the ballroom (necessary for a quorum) this afternoon when I was there, since I could hear no sound coming from the ballroom and I think it's extremely likely that safety codes would not allow the main doors to be locked when the room was occupied. In the interest of accurate reporting, however, I cannot truthfully state that I was able to look inside the ballroom.
I also carefully asked employees who had been at the nearby coffee/pastry concession. The guy who appeared to be in charge had apparently been there most of the day and said that there was a crowd earlier in the day but there was no meeting going on. I also bumped into another RP supporter who had come down there for similar reasons and he had independently come to the same conclusion - no meeting.
I guess there still exists the possibility that there was a very quiet meeting going on and the large entry doors were locked, but that seems extremely unlikely. Perhaps they moved to another room, but I wonder how many rooms the Peppermill has that can accommodate a crowd of that size.
If there is a meeting going on there this afternoon, they did an incredible job of hiding it. I hope that is not the case.
The dogs have been quite a kick... They are part of a litter of 6 that were abandoned near Pyramid Lake just after birth. I ended up with five puppies here after they were about 5 weeks old, and took all five on a trip to Montana when they were about 2 months old (didn't know their names or respond to verbal instructions). THAT was quite a memorable adventure. I now have two of them left, and they just celebrated their first birthday earlier this month. Also have an elderly Australian shepherd who has been wonderful. The young dogs got a bit nervous when we had the earthquake Friday night, and joined me in bed. My Aussie experienced a few "real" earthquakes in So. CA over the years, so apparently didn't get too excited by this baby quake. :o)

Nope, I stayed at home, which is just off Mt. Rose Highway at 5,500' as you head into the mountains toward Lake Tahoe. It's kind of out in the boonies (which is what I wanted), but still only a 10 to 15 minute drive into town (depending on where I'm going). No smog, good water (well in the back yard), and a stunning view of the mountains as I drive home. Quite a contrast to Anaheim, CA, from where I escaped nine years ago. Now if my young dogs would stop chewing up my house when I'm gone, it would almost be perfect. ;o)

you are for real. This is just a very confusing situation. With all the deception and dirty tricks the GOP has been throwing us (plus the numerous moles on this site), people understandably get a little suspicious.
again, thanks for bringing some clairty. I think perhaps the employees are just as confused as we are, since the GOP did rent the hotel room for two days.
Reno Peppermill Report 3:30 Sunday
Here's the "don't let internet rumors make you crazy" lesson for the day. I live about a 15-20 min. drive from the Reno, NV Peppermill and was there all day yesterday as a NV state GOP delegate. I'm even briefly in a few of the videos on YouTube of the meeting and chaos at the end.
I have been calling the Peppermill since early this morning, and have talked to a number of people there from the operator to bell desk to security to special events people. There didn't seem to be anyone who really was plugged in and knew with certainly if the Repubs were using the ballroom again today for a meeting. It was clear that a bunch of people had showed up, but that wasn't any indication that there was any official meeting.
Finally when I called about 2:30 a guy at the bell desk said that the GOP convention was listed on his "readerboard" activities for TODAY (Sunday) all day beginning at 9:00. With the various (misinformed) messages appearing here this afternoon I decided to run up there and check it out.
No one is there, and nothing is happening. The doors to the ballroom are locked, and I could see through the cracks that no one was in the room where the tables and vendors had been. In fact it had already been reconfigured with room dividers, apparently in preparation for the next event.
I did bump into another RP supporter who had a similar experience to mine with questionable/misleading "information" and who also decided he better come down and see what is going on.
So... There is nothing going on in the Tuscany Ballroom where the NV convention was yesterday at the Reno Peppermill. At least there are no visible signs and the employees I spoke with siad there had been a couple hundred people who showed up there earlier but nothing resembling a meeting.

Yes it's upstairs in a new addition that the Peppermill just completed a few months ago. The first time I saw the addition was the Washoe County convention last month. Very nice.
I don't know Todd - have been extremely busy at work the last few months (teaching an overload schedule at our local community college), and have unfortunately not been able to get involved in the meetups. Met a few folks from the meetups at several strategy meetings before the precinct caucuses in January.
Overall there sure are a lot of really great folks supporting RP. I wish I'd had more time to get involved in the local meetups the last few months. It's nice to have like-minded friends that you know and trust, especially if things really start to get bad.
If we do have to go to Vegas to complete the convention, and if I am able to go, I have a 2006 Caravan that could easily take 6 of us with luggage.

Thank you for confirming what I thought was probably the case. I had come home...2 hours away...and was beginning to wonder if I could drive back again. I think they are going to completely override the process, call a meeting with the delegates they chose for Las Vegas and simply ignore us. The good news is they appear to be frightened of our impact, the bad news is that they don't see the righteousness of the Ron Paul Campaign.

...after reading through, it seems that when one employee says there are some people in a room meeting, it's to be believed. When another says they're not, it's a shift change. It'd be nice if someone swung by to check up on this, but boy I'd hate to be "Magic" in the morning.
"Some of the people from last night" might be there trying to see what can be done with the rescheduling, if the Vegas idea didn't pan out. Or someone could just be confused. What prompted the original call to the location, anyhow?

I noticed a comment saying the GOP had rented the space for two days, so it was nonsense that they couldn't just reconvene the next day, instead of rescheduling the next week.
Then it occurred to me, the chair had called for a recess. Meaning, it was at his discretion when to reconvene. I googled the casino, found the number, made the call. I had the above conversation.
It is possible they are just meeting to discuss strategy. But we can't give these guys the benefit of the doubt.
They may be reconvening, or they may be doing some other "rule change" nonsense like they did in Texas and Missouri to disqualify our delegates. The fact that the employee said "I can neither confirm nor deny.." seemed like an odd answer to the question of whether they were holding the convention. It is certainly possible it is all just a misunderstanding, but better to be safe then sorry. The Nevada Paul delegates should not wait around for Beers to invite them to the next convention.

I think it is very possible people are just hanging out. There is a feeling of frustration and incompleteness which makes you want to stay with those who understand. People were exchanging impressions of what happened, what they would like to do to retaliate, sadness, happiness for having made such a huge impression that the McCain supporters felt they had to throw their toys on the floor and walk out....almost like a wake.
We have them quaking...don't think otherwise. That doesn't mean they don't have the power and influence to do whatever the heck they want to do...but will that endear their candidate to the public? I don't think so. Frankly, I think they are making a huge error. It is also possible that one or the other of the contingencies is meeting in a small way to stratgegize.
I am so amazed at what our organizers accomplished...sharp, honest, good people. I didn't hear back from any of the people who seem to be contacted when anything is really happening....

This just in: Convention's phone rings off the hook based on internet rumor... rude Paul supporters jam the casino's front desk for hours demanding to know if McCain's people are meeting in secret. I guess someone should have told those conspiracy theorists the Convention was yesterday!
Someone swinging by would be a lovely idea. However, it would seem a little strange considering emails were sent out and official press releases were given indicating the date for the continuance would be announced this week. What's more likely: that the GOP is meeting in secret to disenfranchise Paul supporters despite very public statements they were looking into Las Vegas to finish up the Convention ASAP, and that someone's random phonecall uncovered this? That an employee saw some of the Ron Paul supporters who were admittedly there this morning and probably into the afternoon, and confirmed that people from last night were milling about the premises? Some combination thereof?
I just hope this doesn't turn into a bunch of irrational people calling and harassing employees for their own "peace of mind", or storming down there in a huff over what could *potentially* be a misunderstanding.

Hypothetical if rumors go unchecked. Remember the Glenn Beck BS with the "death threats"? I'm merely saying that could easily be the next thing we saw from this. We need to be careful as individuals that we don't leap to conclusions and examine what we say and do with as unbiased an eye as we can spare.
Panic isn't becoming of any campaign, especially one with a large group waiting to label any activity "kooky".

I live close to the Peppermill and just got back from there. There was nobody in the lobby in front of the Tuscanny Ballroom, where the Convention was held. I peered through the cracks between the doors and confirmed that the Convention was indeed torn down and partitions replaced. I walked down the hallway to the main convention room and there were a few workmen taking down the stage.
Looks to me like since we let the air out of their ball they cried and went home.

know everything going on in the hotel they are often the first point of contact and are trained to provide customer service and guide guests appropriately. I work in a hotel not even as grand as that one and that is our standard and all others around me. They are probably starting to give canned answers due to the call volumn
