Just got off the phone with Bob Beers...
Whoa, whoa, whoa everybody! I just had a 15 minute conversation over the phone with Bob Beers. I got it straight from the horse's mouth on this one. He states that there was no trickery at all during the convention this weekend on his part. Though, I personally am not discounting the McPain-in-the-ass supporters.
Sen. Beers chalks up this weekends failings to: technical and logistical "unpreparedness" on his and the volunteers part. He readily acknowledges that the Ron Paul people flooded the delegate nominations! He admits his volunteers had neither the time nor means to update their spreadsheets to account for all the floor self-nominations. He doesn't deny any of this. He knows what went wrong and he feels bad about it.
He stated that his job is to: "Express the will of the 1,370 +/- delegates" and that "we just ran out of time."
We have to keep our cool and remember that the convention was being ran by volunteers. He only wished the Ron Paul people could have realized this and understood that the volunteers could just not hold up for 24+ hours straight, as much as they would have liked to.
He expressed his satisfaction in the fact that new blood is coming into the party.
He hinted that the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas on a coming weekend would be the new location for Nevada delegates when they reconveign. AND that ample notice will be provided to all.
He wanted to stress that there was MUCH more accomplished by the GOP this weekend than by the Democrats at their convention.
Also of note, he said he is a Fred Thompson supporter.

That's what I could get. Hope this help ease some nerves. Or not. Your choice. I personally don't know it this was scripted or all a ruse...I encourage Nevada delegates to stay on top of this. I can only do so much from Tennessee.
(UPDATE: After having read others' reports on this and watching all the vids, I find Sen. Beers responses to be rather limited and weak. However, I approached him as a journalist, objectivley as possible, and gathered what I could from him. I do hope the info I got can help in some way.)

It sounds like the Nevada GOP are all a little bit McChicken
listening to the BS that
listening to the BS that went on in Chorpus Christie Texas, and this crap IN Nevada-- its amazing what these people in power think they can do! there interest is retaining power.. not what is best for the country! sure is fun stirring this pile of sh%t! can't wait for the Colorado convention! TAKE NO PRISONERS!
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
Hate 2 sound like a broken record but,
If they up & quit & leave, then doesn't that mean we win by default????? ; )
If the chair broke rules, (called for recess w/out vote, took paperwork, walked-out, etc.), shouldn't they be penalized or fined!
Lord knows, if our delegates/supporters pulled crap like that, they would be escorted out by the cops!
Shenanigans!
I know the RP supporter who helped enter the information for the at-large self-nominations for National Delegate. He and another gentleman were able to enter all of the nominations entered by the deadline (Name and county only, but you see where this is going) in about 45 minutes over the lunch break.
We've heard that there were 200 nominees before the at-large nominations and that the at-large nominations "doubled" the number of nominees, but my friend said that there were a little more than one hundred made. I'm sure a number of them were duplicates. (I know I sent in an application before the cut-off date and submitted one at the convention to be safe. All RP delegate nominee-wannabes were encouraged to do so.) It certainly doesn't take long to merge two spreadsheets and check for duplicates. After eliminating the duplicates, it wouldn't take long to enter the remaining data (address, phone, email) to the spreadsheet for those new nominees from the floor.
Whether he meant to or not,
Whether he meant to or not, he has allowed the McCain supporters the time to rethink their gameplan. The advantage we had was that they were unprepared and were diluting their vote. Ron Paul supporters were organized and knew exactly who they were going to vote for.
Now McCain supporters will go back to the drawing board, prepare, and come back ready to do battle. I think it is a poor excuse to say "well we were just tired and had no more time". Friggin wuss. There were hundreds of people there that were tired and ready to continue. The hotel offered another 3 hours so don't give me that crap that is was a time or contract issue.
And now we are to believe that it is the volunteers fault? Give me a break! Some of the Ron Paul people were in there counting the votes and wanted to finish. They just stopped it for no apparent reason and told everyone that we had no time left. Then cut tail and run. And lets not even get into the fact that you CAN NOT legally call a recess without a motion, a second, and a friggin VOTE!!!!!!!!!
So, then
If what you're saying is accurate, then Bob Beers did something illegal, right? He violated some rule or law.
What are the ramifications of that?
Anyone here in the know?
What happens when the chair consciously violates the law? There has to be some consequence. Otherwise, people will do as they please.

This is what I...
thought as he was telling me his side of the story on the phone.
Didn't everyone have to pay
Didn't everyone have to pay $100 to even be there and be able to vote? Beers needs to be voted out.
Too pissed to comment
for too many reasons
Lets get a rope and show
Lets get a rope and show some justice!
No. Vote him out of the
No. Vote him out of the chair and then vote him out of office and we'll be done with this Neo-Con.
Ideally...
he then uses the rope on himself! That way, everyone wins, except for the man who sold his soul for peanuts. Satan, too, would probably lose in that situation.
Hopefully he encounters a moment of dawning comprehension and ultimate epiphany, whereby the error of his ways ashames him to his existential core, and the renouncement of all that is evil in our system can begin.
Guess I still have more of this beer to chug before the self-delusional happy thoughts gain credence in my increasingly-addled mind...
For liberty!! *gong*
Funny!
Lolling with tears.
Sniff... smells like pure BS all the way up in Seattle.
F**k Beers!
"Victory for liberty! That is our goal, and nothing less. -- Ron Paul, December 17, 2007"
I can smell Beer's crap from here in California
Everyone is always soooo sorry after the fact. They block Paul out of the debates, then their sorry, they keep him off the evening news, then their sorry, they marginalize everything he does, then their sorry, they cancel STATE conventions without a vote for recess, then their sorry, blah blah blah. Vote Beer's ass out, and then get down to business.
Neo-Con's cannot be trusted. They've lied to American's before, they'll do it again.
wow that is one stinky pile of bs...
I think I'm getting a whiff here in NH too (must be the prevailing winds)... seriousy tho, the only way for him to prove it's not 100% pure bs is to limit participation when the convention reconvenes to only those who were in attendance on saturday... I think we all know the chances of that are slim to none...
Yep.
That's right.
I frankly would not believe
I frankly would not believe one word that came out of this guys mouth. We have him on tape belittleing Ron Paul supporters and then breaking the rules.
This was done for one reason. He knows the Dr. Paul supporters will be there but he is trying to get our allies who were moved by the good doctor's speech to our side to not show up to the next convention or to switch over to McCrap. If you know other delegates who were won over to us yesterday and have their numbers, give them a call and keep them on board.

Sorry for the triple post.
I don't buy this at all.
I don't buy this at all. He's had 24 hours to think up excuses and his comments as outlined above are at least partially inconsistent with what happened. A few examples:
Why did they fritter away the time all afternoon if they knew we had a drop-dead time of 6:00 to leave the room? Was watching meaningless video messages from Repubs who chose not to be at the meeting more important than electing the delegates?
Why did they only supposedly have the room one day until 6:00 when an official GOP document (March 15, 2008 Washoe County GOP rules #37 specifically states that the state convention on April 26 "may be one or two days of business." So 6 weeks ago they are saying the state convention may be up to two days, and yesterday they only have the room booked until 6:00?
Why after the official party leadership left, including Beers, did the Peppermill tell us that we could stay another 2 or 3 hours?
The Ron Paul people had at least three high speed laser printers and computers ready to print out the necessary ballots within about 20 minutes. This was discussed at our meeting the night before the convention. Yet either Beers or Louden (sp?) in a media report I read earlier cited their inability to print ballots quickly as one of the excuses to shut down the meeting.
Most importantly to me is the way this was handled. No discussion of alternatives, no warning that we were running out of time (while they frittered it away during the afternoon), etc. He just quickly said we had to leave, slammed down the gavel, and they all quickly high-tailed it out of there. The majority of the delegates were simply stunned.
Based on the slow pace and progress of the meeting, most of the people around me seemed to be thinking that we would be there late Saturday night or into the early AM hours. We accepted that as part of doing our job. For them to claim that they were forced out of the room at 6:00 with no contingency plan for that night or Sunday is absurd and unbelievable (especially considering the March 15 GOP document that says it might take two days).
I also had a phone conversation with the Peppermill bell captain about 2:00 this (Sunday) afternoon, and he said that the GOP convention was listed as an all-day event for TODAY beginning at 9:00 AM. I specifically asked him, "Are you sure?...Today, Sunday<... It's on your schedule for today too?" And he told me yes, definitely, he was talking about today.
All things taken together, I find that the actions of Beers and the GOP leadership yesterday are very inconsistent with his story today as you have recounted. We had enough time in the afternoon to vote in the delegates if it had not been so effectively wasted. Even if the ballot counting had to be done after the meeting ended (with enough witnesses from each group), that would not have been a big problem. This smelled just like a sports team running out the clock when they don't want to risk letting the other team score by actually allowing the ball to be in play.
Beers is running for office this year, and I expect he's going to become very familiar with the term "blowback." I fully intend to do my part, and have already been getting familiar with his opponents (my new friends).
Mike Weber was a real hero yesterday, and I have a great deal of admiration for him. I will be contributing generously to his campaign this year, both financially and canvassing.
We got a wonderful opportunity to see what some of the players are really like yesterday, and it's time for us to help the good guys/gals, and let the others know that their BS will not be tolerated. I can't sue Beers for the games he participated in yesterday, but I can certainly join with others to help his opponents give him the boot he so richly deserves for taking my money, wasting my valuable time, and deliberately preventing me from doing the main thing I attended the convention to accomplish.
Glad you called
Unfortunately it sounds scripted. Wednesday there will be a posting on YouTube from a professional video team. We need to call into radio and television talk shows and do letters to the editors. It's time to invade the media! Remember http://www.dailypaul.com/... when you are talking to media-folk. Get gutsy and be kind!
Now to God who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all we ask or think according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory. . . Ephesians 3:20-21
More BS
Who do they think we are? Paulers are awake. This kind of stuff doesn't work anymore.
I'm not defending this guy.
I'm just saying I remember how the media spun the whole Sean Hannity chasing incident. Right now, all I am reading is calls for blood! Just keep the high ground, vote him out if you think you've been wronged, and carry on with the mission of getting Ron Paul the support he needs.
I understand everyone's frustrations. I have wanted so bad to step over the line and break the rules. Yes, you can harrass this guy to death...or you can discredit him forever and never let the world forget his ruined name, the same tactic the MSM is trying to use on RP, but RP is just too pure.
In short, yes, give them all hell for failing us at the convention, but keep yourselves anonymous if you are going to act violently, because our opponents love to call out and generalize the individual supporter as representative of the whole.
Respectfully.
No one here is calling for
No one here is calling for his blood or throwing anything at him. What we are calling for is not being nice any longer. Nevada is ours and it is time to take it. What we are calling for is the removal of Beers as chair and then we are done with him.
What do you expect us to do, give Beers a hug? He belittles us, he ignores the will of the PEOPLE and he breaks the rules.
Also if they try any crap, ALL of our supporters should walk out so they can't have a quorum.
Sometimes we have to stoop
Sometimes we have to stoop to the opponents' level. (sad that they are opponents instead of allies since we are all in the same party) But if we do have to resort to their tactics let's do it sweetly and politely! Show them, that like our candidate Ron Paul, we are kind and gracious!
Our strength is being tested
Agreed, we will hold him accountable. We are for truth.
Constant reminder to ourselves: We need to be firm and caring. We have to stop being angry and hateful and we must not be pushovers. See http://www.dailypaul.com/...
Now to God who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all we ask or think according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory. . . Ephesians 3:20-21
Then take it!
By all means neccessary, take what's our. Follow the rules doing whatever you can to garner support, get control, then change the game! That is exactly what the revolution is about!
All this frustration is justified. We HAVE been belittled and sh*t on for too long, but we must be the heroes at the end of the day, not the neo-cons or the globalists who have caused all the frustration. Otherwise, they will just convince the public that we did them (the public) wrong.
Continue the good fight!
Let us break this down in
Let us break this down in reality.
1: The chair has the role to abide by the point of order and uphold those rules of order.
2: The chair CAN NOT recess without the majority of the assembly for this requires a vote and was not voted upon.
3: Even if a preset time was set in the orders of the day it can be overturned by a 2/3 majority and he is well aware of this or should be.
4: I have hardly ever been to any convention that did not have to be extended to assure all orders of business have been addressed and voted upon.
5: I am going to encourage the entire body to file a new order of business to remove the chair for cause for failure to comply with the bylaws of the RNC.
6: I could go on all day but i will not.
I am working with several people in NV and they will be well prepared to deal with this be rest assured.
If you people want about 30 more email me at newspaper4paul@hotmail.com and i will address this issue further.
Dr. Steve Parent
thanks dr. steve...
for all you do...
what a load of CRAP!
you don't seriously believe this bullshi*, do you? pick your brain back up at the door, mister, God help you, you are a sheeple to the fullest degree if you believe that party line bullshi*!
go ahead and roll over and get ready to take it up the wazoo while you're at it, my dear "friend"...Jesus Holy Christ, please help us...
what are you anyway, his wife?
I am sure one reason he is
I am sure one reason he is being so cordial is the fact that he realizes his bullsh#$ yesterday may have begun the digging of his political grave in the state of Nevada. I will say this though, I am sure they were pretty damned surprised at the amount of Ron Paul supporters and the unity. This much new blood has to be a shock to the GOP nation wide. Oh wait, isn't it just 1 spammer in his mom's basement? lmao Oh, just another note... if the volunteers weren't able to handle all this, please get in there and offer to help! That will take some of the load off them and keep them honest too!

Agree with what is below ...
First order of business when the convention is reconvened is to elect a new chair.
Nomination suggestions?
I got one in mind.
For months now we have been
For months now we have been kicked around. Given a small fraction of time in debates compared to the 'major candidates' who we mostly beat. The media has labeled us as wacko's and conspiracy theorist. Many of the Republican establishment has denounced us and tried to get us outright excluded from debates. I could go on and on.
Now we have a state where Ron Paul legitimately received the most votes of any candidate still in the field. But on the stage I see McCrap signs and a McCrap supporter gaveling the will of the people and breaking rules left and right.
Even if you want to give them the point of the hall time running out, which has been disproved, there was still enough time if it did not take hours for our delegates to overturn unfair rules put in by McCrap supporters.
The time for understanding and being nice is over. The time for action is here. Nevada is rightly ours and it is time to take it.
Hear! Hear!
Nevada proved we can beat them.
psh... it's obvious this
psh... it's obvious this isn't the whole story (not blaming you...)
I'm sure his incompetance played a role, but is it really coincidence, that right when it's realized Paul supporters will win the majority of the delegates after changing the rules/taking control, he quickly, without any vote or explanation except a poor excuse, cancels the convention, bangs the gavel, and runs out of the room with security escort?
bullshit Beers.
Probably got
the word from McCain's ppl to pull the plug.
He openly belittled Ron Paul
He openly belittled Ron Paul supporters on stage and broke party rules. I am sorry but the time for forgiveness and understanding is over. The time for overwhelming action is here. The first move that should be made is removing Beers from his chair.
He is also not going to openly come out and say he broke rules and all. That would give us fuel. He is going to apologize like all politicans do but this was done to get our allies away from us and isolate us so they can put McCrap in. We have been apologized to so many times by this government and they just strip away more of our rights.
Yep. The old 'Mistakes were make' Schtick
.
Hm.
Thanks for your report.
Did Sen. Beers mention anything about the hall being made available by the hotel for an additional three hours Saturday night; or, about the alleged fact that the hall was reserved by the NV GOP for today also (as reported here); and why he wouldn't take advantage of such opportunities?
From my armchair quarterback position, it appears to me that Sen. Beers is being quite pleasant and welcoming new blood into the party...when he suspects his answers will quickly hit the blogosphere...
Great News, KEEP UP THE PREASURE!
hjschaapman
so did nothing happen today

What?!
How is this a double-post?? I just got off the phone with this guy! I would hope my post has some original content. Geez.
