Ron Paul got approximately 8% of the vote nationwide. He did better in the caucuses because his supporters were organized. His delegate count varies between 14 and 17 depending on where you look. Here’s one place: CNN Election Results. Based on this underwhelming performance Ron Paul supporters have concocted a plan to take over the Republican Convention and make Ron Paul the nominee. It’s obvious that the Ron Paul organization is a top-down well-organized machine. In the caucuses the Ron Paul supporters were told to stand up and say, “He touched my heart,” and so they all did. The ground troops do what they are told. They report back to the mothership as instructed. They are disciplined in ways no other campaign is. Online they have been very successful, managing to stuff every poll on the Internet. Looking at only Internet results you would be convinced Ron Paul was already elected.

In my state the Ron Paul supporters had a meeting the night before the county election to receive their marching orders. They were told to look for anti-Paul sentiment, to get themselves elected as McCain delegates, and to stay until the end of the convention. The idea is to be a stealth Paul delegate all the way to the National Convention whereupon they will seek to get a brokered convention where ‘anything is possible.’ The same thing has happened in other states, including Massachusetts and North Carolina. It won’t work, of course. The McCain campaign is well-aware of the issue. It’s on the blogs and even in the newspapers. Their stealth activity has been betrayed and is on the radar. This betrays not only the cluelessness of the Paul cult, it also shows their character. They don’t care about democracy. They don’t care about what voters think. They don't believe in majority rule. All they want is their agenda pushed forward and implemented. In reading their writings and observing their behavior I believe that if they had a chance to stage a coup in the United States, they would.

I believe Obama is a closet socialist and a yet another corrupt politician coming out of the corrupt Chicago machine. He has millions of supporters who are enamored with his rhetoric. I believe Hillary is a traditional tax and spend liberal with her own set of loyal fans. The Republican candidates have their own supporters who have been loyal, but also realistic as they turned their attentions, by and large, to McCain.

But Ron Paul supporters? They have discipline. They cannot take defeat. They have an agenda. They have proven they will lie and cheat to get their way. They are pretending to be McCain delegates in order to get to the convention. Normal citizens in Germany in the thirties thought Hitler and the Nazis were buffoons. They didn't take them seriously and thought nothing would come from their antics. It would be a mistake to think of the Ron Paul supporters the same way. They are a cult. And they are frightening.

Addendum: The issue is NOT what Ron Paul or his supporters BELIEVE. You can wax eloquent all you want about the various Libertarian positions. Start your own blog. Do what you want. The issue is what they are doing to subvert 92% of the voters. The issue is lying stealth Paul supporters trying to hijack conventions. The issue is trying to take over the Republican Party with 8% of the vote. Last I checked 8% of the vote isn't a majority. How dare you talk about 'returning to what the Founding Fathers had in mind' when you pull this takeover crap. You can't get more un-democratic than this.
