Question about the book
I gave my two books away, so I don't have a hard copy at the moment to which to refer. So I am listening to my son's cds before I send it to him.
On the second of five cds about 1/2 way through, he says something about transferring a large amount of power outside of our government to an organization like the WTO and he says if we do that, we need to be honest with the people and tell them. He said he is actually "for" doing it, but he wants to be honest and tell the people.
Does he actually say he is FOR transferring a large amount of power to a world organization??? Or am I missing something? I have listened more than once and it is hard to believe my ears. I don't understand that. Can anyone help.
Any other comments about the book?

Yep
That is right. It was Newt Gingrich getting quoted. Much more understandable. Now I need to listen to the cd again and see if that is clear or not. Thank you for finding it for me.
I have the book in my hands
I have the book in my hands but I can't find the passage you are speaking of
lol ok never mind.....the page 96 post came up in the meantime
I read the book cover to cover
and I did not read anything that would suggest Ron Paul is even slightly in favor of the WTO. I'm a careful reader and I'm sure something like that would have jumped off the page and hit me between the eyes. You must be mistaken.
Here ya go - Page 96 - RP is quoting Newt
Ron is quoting Newt Gingrich (1994) who supported the WTO, and who spoke about the authority the US was transferring to an organization outside of our government.
Rest easy. RP is definitely against WTO (see page 95). :)
Oh, you are good
Way to scope it out. I am going to relisten to the cd and see if that is perfectly clear or not. Thank you for finding it for me. Makes much more sense. Fortunately I kow Ron Paul and knew that did not make sense, but if someone else is listening to the cds and misunderstands it like I did, they might think Ron Paul is for that transfer. Hope not. Thanks.
yes... in fact, he sounds
yes... in fact, he sounds alarmed at the amount of power being transferred and thinks politicians should be more honest about it
he's definitely not for the WTO
Thank you!
I skimmed over the Newt Gingrich quote because it didn't interest me.
I have both,
I listened to 4 of 5 of the cd's and did not hear one thing of what you say. I was at the book signing today at 100 Broadway "Downtown" NY. The people at Boarders were going nuts with the traffic. They sold all the books they had on hand, people were dashing to nearby book stores in haste to secure a copy and the local stores sold out as well ! I was told the Publisher underestimated the demand it was a crazy day in the Big Apple:-) I will review the section you speack of, but with all do respect, I did not hear what you proclaim. And as a note: > haveing both the book and cd's I noticed the cd's repeated the book word for word. Could you help us out and tell us what chapter you speak of ? Thanks :-))
No Transfer of Power...
I read the book last week, and Ron does not support the WTO, he is against any transfer of power to any international body, he states clearly that the Constitution does not allow for any international or foreign body to usuurp our soveriegnty or dictate our laws. That includes the U.N., NATO and the League of Nations' agendas. He speaks of this often, not just in his book.

I know you are right
But this man is reading directly from the book and Ron says there is some kind of trade transfer of power that he is FOR but we have to be honest with the people. I just want someone to find it in the book, so we can compare with the cds.
I already gave my three
I already gave my three copies away so I don't have anything to which to refer...I'm going to order more. I do recall his talking about the transfer of power to a large, secretive and unelected entity such as the WTO, and he mentioned how *opposed* he was to it.
Could have made $60
A guy today was offering $60 for a copy of the book ! You could of made some $$$$ The publisher underestimated demand. Downton Boarders was a zoo !
Right
That is what I think, but that does not seem to be the way the guy is reading it on the cds. Maybe someone will have a hard copy. It should be about, I dunno, 40 pages into the book where he is talking about WTO and free trade.
I didn't read the book, but this makes some sense...
The people decided to create the federal government, and so the people can decide to give legitimacy to international organizations as well. But to make that decision, they have to be told what is going on. If there's no vote on the matter, at least those who signed on to the international agreements can be removed from office for doing so.
I believe
that he believes in honesty. But I am still confused about giving our trade power to some global government entity outside the US government. I don't know?
Interesting. My hunch is that perhaps there is an error
with the recording :-).
Ron hates the WTO. I've heard him say many times that we should get right out of it.
