Working within the party...
At my county caucus, the GOP insiders spoke at length about welcoming Ron Paul supporters and wanting them to attend meetings and really be a part of the team. But I keep catching them saying things like, "the more people we have that look like you, the better" and "you're so well organized" and "you know your way around the internet" that makes me feel like something is not quite genuine...
Just curious to know what others' thoughts are on this, considering our long term goal is to return the party back to its roots.

Revolution
THE JUDGMENT
REVOLUTION. On your own day
You are believed.
Supreme success,
Furthering through perseverance.
Remorse disappears.
Political revolutions are extremely grave matters. They should be undertaken
only under stress of direst necessity, when there is no other way out. Not
everyone is called to this task, but only the man who has the confidence of
the people, and even he only when the time is ripe. He must then proceed in
the right way, so that he gladdens the people and, by enlightening them,
prevents excesses. Furthermore, he must be quite free of selfish aims and
must really relieve the need of the people. Only then does he have nothing to
regret.
Times change, and with them their demands. Thus the seasons change in
the course of the year. In the world cycle also there are spring and autumn in
the life of peoples and nations, and these call for social transformations.

The GOP would love add us to their bottom line
but most of the people running the party now despise us for being principled and calling them out on their crap. It seems to me that the State and sometimes even local GOP networks get their "direction" from some higher oracle that traces back to DC. These people will shout you down if you ask one question about the war that requires critical thought. Now, the old timers are great. They respond when you say "fiscal conservatism". They get it, they know that we're going down a road that they probably warned us about a long time ago. But I'm afraid that the people currently in charge of the party are rats. We'll get our party back after they sink it and then scurry off to find something else to ruin. I don't trust them at all.
I'll second that!
I think those that are trying to make nice are wanting us to help McKeating5 win in November.....Boy, will they be in for an unpleasant surprise!
Mart is probably correct about the older folks; I've met quite a few former Goldwater people. They "get it' but are reluctant to make waves within the party; it's really kind of sad.
be on gaurd
remember if they tuly accepted you they would be Paulites too.
Many...
.. of the GOP people are sincerely old Reaganites who are natural allies of Ron Paul and his message. Also, they are in decades old "comfort zones" with respect to their relationships with established GOP order.
Be patient with them. They are natural allies but at the same fear the uncertainties and hostilities that may erupt when they declare they are returning to Reaganism in contrast to the neocon dogma.
We must let them know they can be respected as old-line conservatives (Ron Paul is one) and that they will not end up surrounded by hostile hardcore anarchical pure libertarians.
REMEMBER, that the Reagan Revolution was a COALITION of conservatives and libertarians ala Barry Goldwater. Many pure libertarians nowadays seem to have no recollection or knowledge of the old alliance and come across as absolutely hostile to retro-conservatives while seemingly being totally clueless that Ron Paul himself is retro-conservative who claims Robert Taft as his chosen heritage.
Be pragmatic and remember this is a coalition and an alliance and not just a shindig for hardcore libertarians only. Also, keep in mind, that like Ron Paul, they are from a different cultural paradign where cursing and loudness can be a bit off-putting to them.
Meet them halfway and you will be surprised how many come on over to our side if they feel safe and comfortable about where they are landing...
The inferior man molts in the face.
Six at the top means:
The superior man changes like a panther.
The inferior man molts in the face.
Starting brings misfortune.
To remain persevering brings good fortune.
After the large and fundamental problems are settled, certain minor reforms,
and elaborations of these, are necessary. These detailed reforms may be
likened to the equally distinct but relatively small marks of the panther's coat.
As a consequence, a change also takes place among the inferior people. In
conformity with the new order, they likewise "molt." This molting, it is true,
does not go very deep, but that is not to be expected. We must be satisfied
with the attainable. If we should go too far and try to achieve too much, it
would lead to unrest and misfortune. For the object of a great revolution is
the attainment of clarified, secure conditions ensuring a general stabilization
on the basis of what is possible at the moment.

Extremely good advice
Extremely good advice
Same thing happened at my convention.
It's bullsh*t, they want us to become more involved with them so they can figure out a way to marginalize us. Don't play into their hands, those people are on the way out, and they are starting to realize it.
