Do NOT let what happened in NV happen at your convention and what needs to happen now!

There has been much confusion and speculation on what should, could or needed to be done in NV, i will explain this so everyone can understand it so it doesn't happen at your convention.
I am only going to adress what i believe is the important parts thus far and will keep everyone updated when the time is right.
I have 2 hours of rules of order audio i will send to anyone who wants them. email me at newspaper4paul@hotmail.com and i can send out 100 copies at a time to your meetup group. Part 3 coming soon.
1: If Mike Weber was a Parliamentarian he would have known or should have known the things i am about to state considering he took the position of the chair. I don not know if Mr. Weber was there to help or to actually hinder the convention. I was told by several people in NV that he claimed to be an instructor of Parliamentarian procedure, if this is the case he only hindered our people.
I will wait for actual verified proof such as video or written before i make my final comment on Mr. Weber, i would suggest people proceed with caution until this has been verified.
2: The Chair has no right to call a recess or adjourn without the majority vote of the assembly even if a scheduled Recess or Adjournment was in the orders of business.
No Adjournment can be called while a vote is either being counted and/or verified however a recess can be called to count or verify the votes. My understanding was they were actually counting votes at the time the recess ordered by the Chair without the approval of the assembly by majority vote and the remaining votes were not counted and/or verified.
There is an extreme difference between a recess and an adjournment for a recess is only a break during a session of the assembly and must be specified as to how long the recess shall be and only if the majority of the assembly vote to accept the recess. Such as; "we recess until all votes have been counted and verified" this is then put to a vote and must receive 50% plus 1 vote to pass as to protect the assembly.
An Adjournment is a closing of the meeting thus needing notice to the assembly as to when the next scheduled meeting would take place to continue to conduct official business.
Now what happened was the chair recessed while votes were being counted and therefor took the votes and had them placed in the hotel vault or so i was told. He then left the convention as did many other members of the assembly which left them short of the required number of members to have the required quorum to continue with official business.
3: What should of happened was that someone should have nominated and elected a new Chair in the absence of the original Chair and order the members of the assembly to stay seated NOT LEAVE THE CONVENTION or face disiplinary actions should they leave the convention and continue to count the votes, verify the count and then document the out come, vote on the acceptance of the outcome and then ADJOURN the convention until further notice and place it in the minutes of the convention then vote on the minutes as to the acceptance of the minutes BY THE REMAINING ASSEMBLY!
Mr. Weber would have known this or should have known at the very least.
No official business may be convened in the absence of the required quorum other than, take measures to obtain a quorum, to fix the timeof adjournment, to adjourn, or to take a recess.
4: Every meetup group i have addressed i was clear to explain that politics is an extremely dirty business and you must take all precautions and expect these types of actions from the GOP.
I have urged everyone to educate yourselves on rules of order and in some cases became anrgy when people did not listen and now you understand why. For those i have offended in some of my comments i offer my deepest apology to you however everyone needs to understand that we are not playing hopscotch here and this is not a game for it is real life that is being held in the balance of all of us especially the the people that actually got up off their couch and became delegates and showed up or atleast tried to become a delegate and for that i am extremely proud of all of these people as i would hope we all are. At the very least just for making an attempt to make a difference.
Now more than ever it is time to work, that means turn off the TV, the computer and the radio and dig deep into rules of order and your state and county bylaws as if you are preparing for a final exam and you need to score 100% or you will not pass the test.
I am asking everyone to contact your meetup groups and start study sessions on rules of order so you can eat, sleep and dream about the proper language that are utilized at your conventions so what happened in NV does not happen to anyone else.
I am not going to post what the people in NV are intending to do for that would not be an intellegent comment, however i assure you that many of them are prepared now and are working to prepare the others involved and we must do everything we can to help them at all costs.
We may need to start a fund for them although we need to figure out who is going to responsible for accepting the funds in NV for that is something i do not want the responsibility of in any way.
What is planned is going to take some money to impliment to assure that every vote for our delegates is recorded and counted and assure our people their right to go to the national convention as they were elected to do so.

Contacting Senator Beers is
Contacting Senator Beers is in my opinion a ploy to get the names and addresses of all those delegates in Nevada that will write him and complain. He has it at the top of the blog, complaining that they were not leaving there name and contact info and then everyone started doing that. I don't know, but seems suspicsious to me.
Especially since you had two days for the ballroom, a 21 year experienced, self professed I might add, person representing Paul at the convention. Another trainer, expert in Robert's Rules, not to mention the other paid Ron Paul employee that was a delegate as well. Was everyone just so shell shocked they could not move and really remember the rules?
If the meeting could have been continued and according to the Peppermill they had three more hours, Why was it not????

he may not have had the right intentions, he was heard at the convention saying we have to 'take care of these Ron Paul people"!! Please wait a little while, some leaders are saying that Mike Weber may not have had his heart in the right place, he is running to be a National and he is running for something else. So, we are not sure as of yet, if the meeting was recessed it could have be reconveyned right then, like everyone got up to go to the bathroom.
In the copy of Robert's Rules i have they may have been able to legally pull the meeting back together without a quorum. Have not seen the actual tape as of yet, but cannot wait til I do.

If Mr. Weber was in fact a trainer of Parliamentary procedure as i was told he stated to many members in NV, he should have been well aware of this rule and what he could have done.
HE SHOULD OF ADJOURNED THE MEETING the second he realized they did not have a quorum to continue. This is not rocket science this is the basics of parliamentary procedure.

several classes...He was for Fred Thompson, then Duncan Hunter, then I heard he went to Huckabee. He did in fact train some Huckabee people. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME PHONING, E-MAILING OR FAXING BOB BEERS. HE WAS JUST THE CHAIRMAN, NOT A LEADER. HQ should be calling these people and funding them.
HQ should be calling these people and funding them including, part-time campaign workers, expense money and hiring an attorney to be present.
An all volounteer group, going up against professional political operatives with unlimited funding is a huge disadvantage. You can be sure they will be there with Carl Rove's "A Team" at the next meeting and a plan as slippery as a snake!
HQ needs to wake up. Can you think of a better way to use campaign funds?

Well-wishers and harm-casters alike have been emailing and asking me to describe what happened at this weekend’s GOP convention, though the latter tend to be from outside Nevada and rarely give their name or a way to communicate with them. Just as rarely, they use civil language. I imagine Dr. Paul is as embarrassed by some of his followers’ statements as I am.
First, some have suggested there are similarities between the GOP convention and the “Democrat do-over.” I don’t see them. Our state convention, in an orderly fashion, passed rules, bylaws, credentials, a platform, elected national committee members, and voted for the first 9 national delegates, though the uncounted ballots for 3 of those remain locked in the Peppermill hotel safe, I am told, a process witnessed and physically signed by a represenative from both John McCain’s and Ron Paul’s campaigns. We got a lot of work done.
Early in the day, the state delegates voted to depart from the way the Nevada GOP has elected national delegates for the 15 or so years I have been involved. Instead of short voice votes, the delegates wanted two separate and lengthy election processes: first, dividing the state delegates by our three congressional district, then having each third separately elect three national delegates each; second, an at-large election of 22 delegates from a list of candidates that would combine those who had applied through normal channels and those who self-nominated themselves from the convention floor. Many people who had gone through the normal channels also self-nominated themselves from the floor.
By 6pm last night:
* we were overtime on our contract for our convention space
* we were paying our stagehands and audio-video technicians overtime
* our volunteers running the convention (myself included) had already put in a 12-hour day
* only two of the three congressional district elections had been counted. The third (and largest) was about half-way done
* our rough calculations on how long it would take to compile the results of the upcoming 22-person ballot were l-o-n-g based on the three-person ballot taking as long as it had
* The convention secretary and party secretary (all volunteers) had compiled the 200 or so self-nomination candidates into their computer, but had not started figuring out who was on both lists and needed to be consolidated for the final, master ballot
* Delegates, frustrated that our 5pm end time had been missed, with no end in sight, had left and were continuing to leave to execute their travel plans.
So we made the decision to temporarily stop the convention and resume it at a later date.
It is my sincere hope that:
* This delay (of probably more than a week) will give the nomination committee time to produce a comprehensive list of national delegate candidates
* The same credentialed delegates who attended the meeting in Reno, and only those credentialed delegates, will be called back to order and quickly vote for the remaining 22 national delegates.
* The re-convening will be held in Las Vegas, so that those who already paid to fly across the state once won’t have to do that again this year.
* The elections committee can come up with a system to rapidly and transparently count the ballots under the watch of all concerned parties
* We will finish up whatever few minor agenda items remain and adjourn the convention so we can move forward together to elect common sense, limited government, pro liberty Republicans up and down the ballot.
With this information, what will the strategy be?

NV Convention
Thank you Dr. Parent for your input. I was a delegate to NV convention and many of the very official-looking GOP Hq types in suits swept through the audience urging people to leave...that the time for using the ballroom was elapsing and we had to leave. That was a persuasive tactic, unfortunately. Even though most if not all of the identifiable RP people were told to not leave under any circumstances, some did. Those of us sticking to our seats, kept urging those leaving to stay..."stay conservatives, stay Americans, stay everyone." This all occurred very rapidly. Then the "Suits" came running down the aisles saying "all McCain people out." In the interim, there was a gathering at the front of podium and it looked angry. I sincerely believe some people were fearful, especially the older members of the audience. I don't claim to be an expert....far from it...but it looked to me as though Mr. Webber saved our bacon on a few calls and he, too, was trying to get people to stay, and called for a quorum count not only once, but twice...just in the hopes.
Question: Could RP and other true conservaties meet together again now...next weekend, whenever, gathering together a quorum, and proceed as Mr. Webber tried to do after the gavel hit the wood Saturday, elect a new chair and proceed? I'll find some money somehow to help such an effort or anything else feasible to get our voices heard. Does the fact that the GOP is a private club preclude this action without their "official" stamp and is 14 days notice necessary, only necessary when a "legal" adjournment or recess has been called? This is so frustrating, we had the votes and they knew it. It would almost be easier to take if the media reported things more correctly.

I'm definitely a delegate and not at all discouraged, but I have to admit, patience is not my forte. Many of us are anxious to complete our mission, of course, and curious as heck as to what was/is legal, what isn't, and what recourse we might have. That said, be assured, NV RPers are determined and up to whatever is required. We will be there and are here ready to help in any way necessary.

Remember Nevada had laptops. cell phones for texting, and printers ready. What they did not have is someone they really and truly trusted knowing the Robert's Rules.

from my understanding you also have an easy to read and understand two page which is GREAT! I thoughtthat we need to make this available to all delegates....know what I mean?
I think the two hour should be watched by all, but people are busy, maybe lazy, maybe more dedicated to the dailypaul....I had a four hour class with mike Weber if that tells you anything.

I am working on a web site now but this takes time and money and i can't even get the people that said if i got the radio station up and running they would help support it.
We have had 7 donors total for $120 and it costs over $500 a month to run it and all of our hosts are working for free.
