Ludwig Von Mises was a Jew
In todays' issue of Investor's Business Daily there was an article on Ludwig Von Mises. I honestly didn't know he was a Jew. So our president Dr Ron Paul who studied at his institute, his economics must a total anti-semite...

The interesting thing
is that these "Jews" had a tremendous insight into how the economy is run. During the period that Hitler came into power the mark had been completely devalued. In the book "When Money Dies" it documents this. It says a lot of things that happened and a lot of those things resemble what is going on today. The only people who seemed almost immune to the crisis at the time were the Jews. That is the biggest reason they were hated so much. But, I wonder if the Jews were the only ones who figured out how things were going and how to avoid being affected by it. So, they looked like the bad guys. Do you think that could happen again and do you think there is anything to this theory?

In the middle ages
Fortune Favors the Bold
Jewish people were banned from most forms of business. They couldn't own land or be merchants. The one thing they weren't banned from doing was banking. So economics became an important part of Jewish culture. There were certainly some immoral jewish bankers, like the Rothschilds, as there were many immoral protestant and catholic bankers. There were also many honest jewish bankers.
The Nazis, understanding the power of collectivism, sought to blame the entire german economic situation on the Jewish people collectively. With their propaganda techniques, it worked. Ironically, their efforts were supported by the Rothschilds and the British zionists, as they sought to exterminate orthodox Jews, their ideoogical opponent.
maybe it would be more fair to say
Fortune Favors the Bold
rather then they sought to exterminate Jews, that they wanted to encourage Jewish egress from europe, and didn't have a problem with those who weren't willing to support their ideology being killed.
I don't know if it's fair to
I don't know if it's fair to generalize that all the Jewish people in Germany "had a tremendous insight into how the economy was run."?
I'm sure there were many German Christians that knew how to protect their wealth too... I don't think you can generalize like that...
heh
I grew up in Western PA.
I'm Chinese. Grew-up in a Chinese household. Jewish people looked white to me. I never understood why whites would pick on whites when there were Asians like me to pick on (which they did more often than the Jews), but it was weird nonetheless.
i understand your point
Fortune Favors the Bold
but i think it would be more clear is you said "Mises was a jewish" rather then "Mises was a jew" subtle difference in how the statement is perceived.
I agree, totally. Mises was
I agree, totally. Mises was Jewish, if you will. Not that it is any big deal. So was Einstein and a host of other educated critical thinkers.
What?
That arguement makes no sense. Why would a Jewish person have prejudice and hostility towards his own religion, racial, and ethnic group?
If anything, Ron Paul's studies about economic with a Jewish person would fly in the face of antisemitism.
No wonder people call us Ron Paul supporters quacks every now and again. Ebonics-lover you are obvioulsy here just to cause trouble. Do youself a favor and go play with the McCain children.
variety in the jewery
there are many jewish people who reject their own religion!!
Being jewish, or a jew, doesn't mean they "all" believe the exact same things.
Christians have different views on many issues. Many christians today are doing exactly what the bible warned against.....Being part of the government system. They now help the govt enforce" policy", and play the watch dog for them. Basically, they are going against their own religion.
Guess you'd never believe there is such a thing as a communist jew... They did and still do exist....go figure..
sarcasm
It was pretty clear to me that when ebonics-lover wrote "his economics must a total anti-semite..." [sic], he was being sarcastic.
That Would
Make a lot more sense. I get it now.
Damn internet, so hard to hear sarcasm and all.
Your comment was light a lightswitch going off. Now I recall how the MSM tried to connect Ron Paul as antisemitic.
Damnit. HAHA
Thanks for the insight
That's ok Tim
You helped straighten me out also. I could not "hear" the sarcasm either and I thought "whaaat?"
good point
Yeah, Ron Paul's idol is Jewish... He must totally be an Anti-Semite... ;)

Freedom lovers exist in
Freedom lovers exist in virtually every group of people. Furthermore, every group of people has both good and bad in it. Let's focus on Ludwig's goodness and lay the label aside.

It's the theory of the man, not the religion
Doesn't matter what his personal religious beliefs were. If we used that as a basis of determining what is useful and what is not, we'd still be in the stone ages.
Haha, as well there was another jew that Ron
studied: Murray Rothbard.
Take that leftists!
Who Cares?
What difference would that make?
We care
Of course the religion of von Mises (or Rothbard) does not matter to Ron Paul or to us. That's the point.
Ron Paul's open admiration of von Mises (and Rothbard) counters the claims of those who say Ron Paul is anti-Semitic.
And that's why we care.
Thank you Minarchist for clarigying that
You are exactly right. I heard some ignorant people say that Ron Paul is a "racist" and an "anti-semite"... None of that is true.
Our Freedom movement doesn't judge people by their skin color or religion. We are all individuals who want to live happy and free!

You're welcome, Sean
It should also be noted for all those who claim that Ron Paul is racist that another person whose ideas and thinking he openly admires, enough to mention him as a potential running mate, is black economist Walter E. Williams.
Yeah?
So?
