Campaign needs to put out a press release that Paul voted against the Genetics law
He was the only member of Congress who voted against this bill which would forbid companies, such as health insurers and employers, to discriminate on the basis of genetics.
The campaign should issue a press release to brag about this. This could get Paul some interviews since his position is so unpopular among Congress and I'm sure among most Americans since most don't want free-market capitalism but a nanny state and central economic planning. It would be good, since controversy is good for Paul, especially now that he's promoting his book.

I am clear on Ron Paul's
I am clear on Ron Paul's position here. But I can not let this go with out commenting on the insurance providers in this country. Health insurance is mandatory for the majority of Americans. But I just want to make it clear what I think of these companies. I hate them. I'm talking serious hate here. After dealing with my employer provided health insurance, I can not express enough disgust for them. I can't get started on what they have pulled. Lies, lies lies, just like our government. Hope you all have had better luck with yours.
I'm done. Just had to get that off my chest. : )
Im confused
Did it pass, or did it fail? Can these insurance providers use this information or not?
It passed
Fortune Favors the Bold
so they can not. Ron Paul voted against this, because it restricts the what insurance companies and businesses who hire can do. The confusion here, I think, is that insurance SHOULD BE voluntary. I hate in New Jersey how we have mandatory car insurance (By the way, insurance is insanely expensice here). Likewise, no one could force you to work at a company who does genetic testing.
Huh?
I haven't read the whole bill but why is it a bad thing that they are stoping employers and insurance cos from using this information for their benefit?
It is not authorized
Neither this, nor compulsory insurance laws are authorized by the Constitution. These are all matters left to the states, respectively. He voted against it, not because it is not a good idea, but because it should not be handled at the Federal level.

The govt is going to use this law
to gain access to genetic information under the guise of "Protecting people's genetic information"
wouldn't surpise me

after all, how can they prove it otherwise? Think about it.
Citizen: This company tried to collect DNA from me!
Company: No we didn't.
Citizen: Then's what are those records you have?
Company: It's something else.
Government: We'll have to check this. Can we have a hair sample please?
