Can someone please explain what the war on terror is?
Posted May 2nd, 2008 by oruval
Because it's supposedly started over 9/11, and quite frankly it's all the DOD uses as a reason for all of their military expenditures and plans.

The war on terror
is actually a war on us - didn't you notice?
We hand what is left of our
We hand what is left of our liberties to the government for protection against the monster under the bed. Hell, the government will even sing a good night song to you before the Internal Reich Service does an audit.
It's the usual phantom enemy of an idea or tactic
Just like the War On...Poverty...Guns...Drugs...AIDS...etc.
You can't win a war against a concept, idea, tactic, or condition.
They never learn.
And today I fought my own War on Termites...much bigger problem.
Hey, you're not supposed to know that
Looks like we need another false flag to change your tune...
Bullshit.
Bullshit.
(That's all)
It's a bumper sticker...
just like "the war on drugs." I hate to admit that I agree with John Edwards when he made the statement, but just like the war on drugs, it is such a vague/blanket statement that you and I can be considered terrorists, because we are "anti-government."
it is a scam
for doing things like the patriot act and the REAL iD
It is "Shock Therapy", to implement 'reconstruction'.
Read Shock Doctrine, by Naomi Klein. In depth, accurate history of the Central Banks and IMF controlling all governments through their money and economies. The tale of a not-so "Free Market". Neocon criminals and greed at the root of it all.
Vali
'...truth is loved in such a way that those who love some other thing want it to be the truth, and precisely because they do not wish to be deceived, are unwilling to be convinced that they are deceived." --- St. Augustine, Confessions (10:23), 5th cent.
BOO
There is danger everywhere....
Can anybody think of ANY terror attack here on US soil? Any small bombs? Any railroad bombs? Subways? anything? (don't count OK or Twin Towers, cause those are suspect anyway)....
OK City. Even more
OK City.
Even more ironic...
Actually, the assassination of RFK would have to be considered the first Muslim/Arab act of terror committed on U.S. soil.
The CIA killed RFK
You're corrected.
Oh yeah...And the tooth
Oh yeah...And the tooth fairy gave me a 50-cent piece to hump her last night.
Most of us here (people who don't trust the government) are probably not going to learn of any new conspiracy theories from each other. So snide comments serve no purpose other than to piss your comrades off.
Did the CIA kill Bobby Kennedy?
Sorry....The RFK murder had nothing to do with Muslims. Neither did OKC. This is mainstream stuff at the moment. I'm glad you got laid though. How was she?

It's the "War on Terra"
As in "Terra Firma".

Think about it. Has our
Think about it. Has our government ever before had a good enough excuse to impose: National I.D., domestic WireTap program, suspend Habeas Corpus, suspend Posse Comitatus, perpetual war (which is beneficial to major corporations that provide weaponry as well). This "war on terror" is the government's new, grand excuse to do almost whatever it pleases. And it's pretty ingenious, because it survives by appealing to the people themselves; their fear of death. All government need resort back to is.... "You don't want to be killed by terrorist do you?" And unfortunately a majority of people fearfully submit.
That is an easy one...
We are going after Obama John Clinton!
Does my burka make my butt look fatwa?
what I'd like to know is...
how can you declare war on a military tactic?
Its not a war on terrorism
Its a war of terrorism!
Re: Can someone please explain what the war on terror is?
Tyranny.
Who Governs the Governless?
It's Bush and Cheney's little
Lets see just how gullible people are war.Turns out that they were actually pretty dead on about most of us.Now it's time to take the power back.
its a war on you!
and me
At the very least, it’s an
At the very least, it’s an insult to Americans’ literacy…..
What it is
Its a war on truth..
It's a government program
to create jobs paid for by taxes, by creating a problem where none would otherwise exist.

Since "the War on Terror" started
I've definitely been finding less terrorists hiding in my bushes and in my closets.
So I think it's working and it's a bargain for just $600 billion+ a year!
LOL! How about a "War on
LOL!
How about a "War on Dust", and then a "War on Dirty Windows"? I could use some help with the hated housecleaning!
I will clean your house
for $500 billion a year. That is a government discount.
Sounds good! I will pay you
Sounds good! I will pay you in mortgage-backed securities worth $400 trillion, backed by the full faith and credit of the Federal Reserve.
okay - can you get
Bernanke's signature on the check so it won't bounce?
If it does, we'll just squeeze the taxpayers; they'll never know.
You're right --- They're too
You're right --- They're too busy watching "American Idol" and the latest football/baseball/basketball/hockey/Nascar event to notice anyway.
War on Terror?
It just one more excuse to deprive American citizens of their civil rights devised by our criminal class, the politicians. How can you have a war on a tactic? Terrorism is a tactic, just like high altitude bombing, or amphibious landings.
The real war is against the American people. It is a replay of the Enabling Act passed by the Reichstag, giving Hitler extraordinary powers to "deal with terrorism". What we need to be asking is why are we the target of the terrorists.
The answer was given by Dr. Paul. The terrorists are attacking us because we are involved in their wars. Our politicians have made us the target of the terrorists. And now, they are going to "protect" us from terrorism. All we have to do is surrender our civil rights.
They want to listen in on our phone conversations and read our e-mail. They want to know what books and videos we borrow. They want to x-ray us at the airports. They want to know where our money is. They want to know our medical records, and everything else there is to know about us. This is all for our own protection, we are assured.
At the same time, they don't seem concerned about who walks accross our borders, in fact, they refuse to enforce the laws already on the books. Rather, they want to force a national ID card on the American people.
I think we need to know who these people are. After all, they work for us. We pay their salaries. Just who the hell do they think they are?
Read quotes by George Orwell and the book 1984
In 1944, George Orwell predicted a 'fictional' country with "continuous war" and where the "news was all lies."
"Every war when it comes, or before it comes, is represented not as a war but as an act of self-defense against a homicidal maniac. "
- George Orwell, 1944
SOUND FAMILIAR???
You see, you can't justify military action, unless you
have a "war" on something, and since nobody was shooting at us, we had to come up with something that sounded "serious", but like the wind, you really can't identify. That also allows us to point out guns at anybody, and anything "they" lable terrorist......hence the Patriot Act. There again, there is nothing patriotic about it. Forget the "War on Terrorism", this is all about using the US Military as your "muscle" to steal the oil reserves so that Bush and Co. can let lucrative contracts to their cronies. Simple as that.
Kazakhstan supports our War
Kazakhstan supports our War Of Terror!
But the rest of the world
Not so much.
Now THAT is classic! Good
Now THAT is classic! Good one!!!
Great, the most despotic
Great, the most despotic central Asian state supports our despotic actions! Authoritarian birds of a feather flock together, I guess.
I think that was a reference to Borat...
Funny stuff.
Quite possibly the funniest
Quite possibly the funniest movie EVER!!!
"Wave goodbye to your clock radio a$$#ole!"
If it's "terrorists",
then we can go after those who commited the crime.
25 Million Iraqis do not have to suffer because of the actions of a few.
And even if we were to go after those who commited the crime and only those who commited the crime, shouldn't we consider their motivation first?
Maybe we did something to provoke them. Hmmm, well let's see:
1) 1953 interference in Iran
2) Military bases on their holy lands
3) Unilateral support of Israel for over 60 years and constant vetoes on UN resolutions that attempt to recognize Palestinian rights.
If you think about it, these guys have been pushed into a corner and that's the only way they can fight back. If nothing else, whether you like it or not, it's brought international recognition to their causes and an increased scrutiny towards our government funded by us the people whose primary responsiblity is now running covert operations all over the globe and interfering in other people's affairs.
We have sanctioned this governement and on 9/11 we paid the price. And this will drag on until we back down not they, for they are in the right and we are in the wrong. Get out Afghanistan, Iraq, pay war crime retributions and quit siding with Israel. Only then, can we have peace.
it's an excuse to trick
it's an excuse to trick people into giving up their civil liberties so that the federal government can have more power. Also, so that they can expand their empire...
OR...
it's a really dumb idea to try and capture terrorists, except it isn't working, and it's actually backfiring, making everything worse.
Somehow, I doubt the president and his advisers could be that stupid.... they must have done it for a reason... and it's not to keep us safe. It doesn't take a genius t figure that out.
Your first paragraph is the
Your first paragraph is the correct one.

Honestly have you done any research?
You watched Dr. Paul get hosed for 10 terms and you think the war on terror is real?

You can't have a war against a tactic
It's a Global War On a Psychological State (Terror) or a Nefarious Tactic, if you prefer (Terrorism).
As the Honorable Dr. Ron Paul pronounced from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives: “It's deliberately vague and non-definable to justify and permit perpetual war anywhere.”
