so... the Fabians took a beating in the UK

I guess that's good news. I don't know how much better the conservative party is over there... any brits? How's the Lisbon treaty going?

Unfortunately, we're suffering from the same blurring of the lines in the UK that you guys are facing in the US. A couple of years back I sat myself down and read through the entire set of major policies for each of the main three political parties - Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. I honestly could not tell the difference between the three.

Unfortunately in the UK, getting rid of Labour and bringing in the Conservatives will only mean a slight shift in policy, plenty more mismanagement, over-solicitous use of red tape and worthless, token oversight committees and ... very little besides. The main three political parties in the UK are every bit as pointless and out of touch with reality as each other, so the people will vote in one of the three parties and things will stay virtually the same. And Britain is in a mess - a serious mess. 99% of the population just don't realise it.

Sadly, the people of Britain as a whole are so used to living off government funds, subsidies and handouts that they actually welcome things like being the most spied on society on earth (one fifth of all the CCTV cameras in the world are in the UK), having the most stringent passport controls in the world (due in the next year or two) and channeling massive chunks of their income into a government that couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery, because it means they don't have to take responsibility for their own lives.

Sorry for the rant, but it enrages me. So much so that I've actually left Britain for New Zealand. I have high hopes that the Scottish National Party (currently in power in Scotland's own semi-devolved parliament) will separate Scotland from the UK, but until that happens I don't know if I can go back. I've been following Ron Paul so closely because he is everything that a leader should be - humble, wise, clear-sighted, well informed and selfless in his pursuit of the good of his people. If he gets into power it will send ripples around the world and show other nations and other people how countries are actually supposed to be run. If he gets in I'm moving to the States, if not ... I really have no idea. At least in New Zealand I'm off the proverbial map.

Keep up the good fight, my friends!
