American Governance*** Republic vs. CORPORATION?

USA vs. US??
I’ve seen this before, and on face value alone, it’s “WHAT?????”
After some research, here are some comments in response to this article; apparently it’s one of those things to which the author was led and set out to prove an assumption.

“Wow. I think I've seen that before, but can't be sure.

Regardless, that is the most ignorant collection of rubbish that I've seen in a long time. It's not worth even starting to pick it apart, because in almost every step of the way, it puts forth either a falsehood, partial truth, self-contradiction, meaningless nitpicking, superstition, held together with blatant logical fallacy for glue.

Pure junk.

I can see what the author is driving at, but drivel like that really harms any attempt to have meaningful discussion.

Here's an example of the goofiness:

Line 1, Capitalization — false. All caps were used regularly in printing for document titles or emphasis during the time of the Founders, as well as today.

Line 2, left-hand side — false. The American Republic did not begin in 1776 but 1787. Until ratification of the Articles of Confederation in 1781, they were independent States united in their declaration of independence from England. The Second Continental Congresses was a de facto semi-governmental assembly that had no actual authority. It directed the Revolutionary War and otherwise acted as a governmental body after the Declaration of Independence.

Line 2, right-hand side — false. The author doesn't understand the basics of the Constitution, for example, what the heck is a "Presidential Legislative Act"? The executive branch doesn't create legislation! Besides, I looked at the Congressional records for the 41st Congress as cited, and it's a fabrication. I did find in one of the published records that Congress did create a municipal government and delegated much of its power to the Governor of the District of Columbia (appointed by the President, confirmed by the Senate for a term of four years), but that's it. No registration as a corporation in England. Sorry. Reference: http://tinyurl.com/6m58ep The given definition of to "incorporate" is not germane to the discussion.

(ad nauseum)

I've seen much better attempts at trying to equate corporations with Pure Evil. It's one of the old conspiracy theory angles that one bumps into from time to time.

The idea is basically that corporations were invented in England by (insert your most hated group here, preferably entrepreneurs) to wield Unholy Power from Satan and enslave all Mankind… or a theme along those lines.

Whereas corporations were created as a means to erect a legal shield between business and private assets, among sea merchants first if I remember correctly. Ships were expensive to build, and frequently required several investors to pool their money. Without corporations, if a ship was lost at sea, individual investors could be ruined by, for example, law suits from families of lost sailors. It's been a long time since I've read about the origins of corporations, so I may be way off here.

The States as well as the United States (federal government) inherited English Common Law, including the use of corporations for asset protection. I'm not sure about the history of municipalities using corporations operating under the auspices of a single legal entity (corporation) rather than a collection of individuals.

Anyhow, it's not worth the time to go through things. Assume that anything you read on the site is wrong in one way or another. “

I hear you but

it depends on what the definition of the word "is" is or per Bill Clintion, the definition of "sex".

Some things are true whether you believe them or not.

There are so many layers of facts, myths, truth, lies, propaganda, misrepresentations, deceit, etc.

So there is an element of truth in every lie and a lie somewhere in the middle of the truth.

A friend once said, there are two sides to every story, and the truth is generally somewhere in the middle. Each tells their story to present themselves in the best light and/or representation of knowledge.
