nothing against your thread. I found it was bumped by atrickpay (funny name) after the thread was silent for a day and nearly at the same time as atrickpay bumped his own "flaw of the constitution" - thread, brain4u2 (funny name) started his chemtrail-thread and a yet unknown L.G. started a new 9/11-thread. All obviously topics that started some controversy here. I think your thread was simply hijacked to do some mischief here and not because of any interest in the topic. No harm intended on my side.

I understand your frustration. But then again I have no expectation that everyone commenting on Daily Paul will post comments and forum topics in line with my points of views and beliefs. And I have no expectations that there won't be some really nutty posts and posters.

With respect to the purpose of this site being "to get Dr. Paul elected President of the United States", I think the more general purpose is "restoring Constitutional government to the United States of America" which is a much more broad goal which entails a wider range of topics and tasks.

Also, I view an internet forum as a community of people. A web forum is a social construct and social constructs involve activities other than those related directly to overriding goal. The purpose being to bring people together and to keep them together.

For example, a club focused on cookie baking might get together and play cards, or go on a skiing trip, or hold a fund raiser for homeless children or get together to help the family down the road whose house burned down . None of those things are related to cookie baking but they bring and keep people together and do many good things.

Same here on Daily Paul. If a group of Daily Pauler's play tennis alot, then I don't mind a few posts on tennis playing. It's not directly related to Ron Paul but it's good exercise and being in shape helps their efforts for Ron Paul be more effective. Etc..

I have no problems with 9/11 Truth and chemtrail believers talking about their pet topics here, as long as they aren't too pushy or aggressive outside their posts. I have no problems in general with people expressing ideas about things I don't necessarily agree with or believe in. As long as their heart is in the right place and they mean no harm.

Again, political groups like ours are coalitions of a wide variety of peoples and groups that are united behind restoring Constitutional and small government and getting government out of our daily lives. If Green Party people, or anarchists or whoever supports those same goals I welcome them expressing their views here even if I don't agree with them.

Outsiders don't think it odd or strange when viewing the disparate peoples and groups expressing themselves here on Daily Paul. They merely view it as a healthy political coalition with foundational beliefs strong enough to bring together such diverse groups. More than anything they are jealous...

I don't have a personal vendetta with anyone here and as you may notice from one of my posts here, I am very open to discuss 9/11, and, well, on chemtrails I don't have a real opinion until now. What I noticed is that in a very short time four topics came up on this forum that during the last days led to a lot of dissent and disruption here, each of it brought up by people who either just registered on this forum or who haven't shown any other contribution until now (ok the last thing was of course my personal impression) I started this thread to alarm people around on this strange fact and the replies I got confirmed my opinion. So I and not only I started to act. Apparently onevoiceofreason was around here (and,sorry folks, I didn't got his IP-adress, my English became a little bit unprecise: I meant, it would be even better if we got his damned IP-adress). So it was not about supressing opinions, but about preventing further senseless disagreement on this forum, perhabs caused by disinformants.
As I understand it this forum is not moderated, so people here have to look, that some folks don't permanently violate the broad guidelines Michael gave to us. That's all I did.

The modern myth of "objective journalism" is a new thing. Especially back during the Founder's era, papers were open about what ideas they supported, what they talked about and reported, etc. As statists took over papers here in the last decades, they took pains to hide their biases because Joe Average still retained some belief in American ideals. The news outlets started to say that they are *cough* "objective" and must tell "both sides" (i.e. only their side) of a story. That's just a nice way to present one's biases while trying to look superhuman (unbiased).

It's very Newspeak, but when you (1) don't want to speak plainly and (2) re-engineer what people think, that's what one does. You don't speak plainly. You don't explain yourself clearly. You don't use reason or logic. You work on people's emotions. Fear, guilt, wanting to look good --- even love, charity, devotion to one's children, etc. can be twisted and manipulated relatively easily. You call love hate, and hate love. You say surrender is victory, slavery is freedom, freedom is terrorism. You say that "only [insert bad or scary adjective] people do [insert good, uplifting, or noble thing]."

Also, as much as people complain about a "news blackout" of Ron Paul, they're assuming that the news mongers really have an interest in journalism as they portray themselves. They're businesses run by people who are at times very open about their mission to "make a difference", i.e. change society. The business part is nothing but keeping people's eyeballs on their material so they can sell advertisements. This is not bad in and of itself, but people who think they're getting an "objective" product are deceived.

There is no news blackout. They're simply doing what they said they would. Publish stories to get eyes on their stuff (ad revenue), and to remake society in their own image ("make a difference").

When one looks at talk radio, the successful people (such as Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, or Rush Limbaugh) are very open about their biases and opinions like the newspapers of yesteryear. People tend to trust these sources more because they know what they're getting. People listen repeatedly because the content is first and foremost entertaining, which brings the ears for advertising revenue. Contrast this with the "mainstream media" which is openly biased but denies their biases. Their power has been eroding steadily, in part because of the eroding trust.

So, if you take biases into account, then the news makes more sense. (At least to me it does.)

For example, one will not hear about NAU, NAFTA, Chemtrails, 9/11 Truthers, etc. from people who support statism because it's unpopular with the average American. What possible reason would they have to talk about something unpopular that they agree with? It would stir up antagonism against that which they support. This to me is a reasonable explanation of why we don't see this stuff on statist media (AKA "mainstream media").

It also explains why it's not only talked about, it's torn apart by people like Michael Savage and Glenn Beck. They don't like it, and want to stir the hearts of Americans who don't.
